OG confirm valde benching

After an underwhelming start to the year OG have moved early to revamp their roster.

OG have confirmed the benching of Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså, it was announced today, after the two sides agreed to part ways. The move comes after reports recently surfaced suggesting both valde and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen would be leaving the squad.

The move brings to an end a two-and-a-half year association between the player and the organisation, with valde having joined OG in December 2019. His departure leaves Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski as the only founding member of the original OG squad.

After a very promising start to life under their new IGL Nemanja "nexa" Isaković at the BLAST Premier Spring Groups things had taken a turn for the worse for OG, as they posted a last place finish at the IEM Katowice main event and failed to qualify for the PGL Major Antwerp.

valde is likely to be seen as a hot property

"I have been very happy here at OG and appreciate the people and the culture here. But sometimes you grow apart," valde said in a statement on OG's website.

"In this case we’re seeing the road to achieve greatness differently and after a very disappointing RMR we have had long talks and have agreed to go our separate ways. Therefore we have agreed that I will step aside, while I spend my focus and energy on finding a new home where I can pursue my immediate ambitions."

OG to bench valde and niko - Report

The fact that it is valde who makes way is somewhat surprising considering he has been the team's top performer behind mantuu in 2022, posting a 1.12 rating and 1.15 K/D so far this year.

The Dane did, however, provide a little more context in an interview with Dexerto, saying the team wishes to move forward by starting from scratch with "a few pieces" from the previous roster and younger players, a direction valde didn't want to go.

valde has been no stranger to rumours linking him to moves away from his current team, having been the subject of just such a rumour at the start of the year suggesting he was to transfer to Evil Geniuses.

Oh I don't think it's totally impossible, long contract definitely doesn't mean it can't happen. I suppose I could expand-- Valde doesn't fix Astralis. Xyp's roles were essentially given to BlameF and Valde is a much more passive player while Xyp has been (terribly) entry fragging, which is presumably what Valde would be put in to since BlameF is the only one consistently performing.

that wound is greater than astralis itself though, the danish scene is in a pretty bad spot rn. outside of the players that are already in a top 20 team there aren't a whole lot of options

someone with same thoughts as me. Putting valde instead of xyp9x will only put valde in a dump. It will take him no less than 3 months to get comfortable in those roles. xyp9x is far better than valde given the circumstances. BUT getting another aggresive rifler like bubjzki (D:) or someone from academy team will definitely improve current astralis roster

>xyp9x is far better than valde no lmao ? how you even see xyp.. bro cant aim anymore , win duels cant clutcha a face it player has better mechanics then xyp there T side will still strugle but their CT side will be insane , just look at all the games astralis had and look at their CT side most of the time xyp costed them a ct round mainly because he could not win fights (duels)
2022-05-11 20:07
2 replies
CT will be improved because mechanically he is far better than xyp9x but T side side will get even worse and you know getting valde is not a long time solution. On world ranking astralis will go from number 9 to number 7 at best and that's it.

i don’t think they go for valde imo xyps buyout is probably really expensive
2022-05-11 21:15
so if im reading this right. Astralis basically f*cked Xyp9x by having him Entry Frag and gave all his Major winning roles to a guy who hasn't even won anything yet. And because of this Xyp9x is now getting the blame?

that's not even related? the idea is that orgs don't care about contract length if they have the opportunity to upgrade a weak link
2022-05-11 19:49
Astralis just need to accept the situation. They can't do anything about the contract but they can do something about letting him play. He's getting paid no matter what. Might as well upgrade the team. They need to treat that money as already gone.

Kind way of saying you’ve never run a business. If someone is replaced, they’re gone. No feelings they were an EMPLOYEE of yours. You forgot the part of $$$. Pay someone to do exactly what the coach does? Companies are not family. Learn that now.

im saying why would astralis just kick a veteran player with alot of experience. if astralis don't want to replace their coach in the main roster he could coach the talent roster since he is a member of csgo's greatest team of all time with his experience he could give his teachings to the young talents

There’s literally a button on your keyboard that says “device” I’ll pay to watch the comedy movie of you failing a business to pay a worthless employee to “give his teachings to the young talents”… for the same cost. But for real: sell 100 cars and management fired you, you will not be paid to be an analyst. Grow up. That has never happened.

valde has higher ambitions why he doesn't wanna stay in OG. Question is, which team has now expressed interest in Valde so that OG would bench him? Astralis (-Xip9ex)? Heroic lineup been so tight that it's hard to take out one player. Liquid -shox is I suppose a possibility too but feels like Valde wanna stay in EU.
2022-05-11 19:26
