Opening matches of PGL Major Antwerp Legends Stage set

Several high-octane matchups await us in the first round of the Legends Stage already.

With Liquid, Bad News Eagles, and Imperial securing wins in the final round and rounding out the Legends Stage team list, the opening matchups of the second stage of the PGL Major in Antwerp have been set.

The 16 teams in attendance were assigned seeding based on their placings in the RMR (for the teams who qualified as Legends) and the Challengers Stage, and it has turned out several highly-anticipated matchups already in round one, which is set to take place after a day off, on Saturday.

FaZe will meet their EPL S15 grand final opponents ENCE in the opener

The highlight bout of the bunch is undoubtedly the repeat of the ESL Pro League Season 15 grand final affair between FaZe and ENCE, but it is far from the only encounter between current top-10 teams we will see on the opening day of the Legends Stage.

Cloud9 (#4) vs. Outsiders (#10) and Natus Vincere (#2) up against G2 (#6) are two more examples of a very high-octane set of first-round matchups, all of which you can find below:

I know it's because of the rmr placements but the buchholz matchup system is horrible. Look at who Navi had to play at the rmr and then look at who flames played. For some teams the EU rmrs were harder than the challengers stage. They should've kept the CIS qualifier. there was no need making the EU qualifer that much bigger when the EU region is already so stacked.

The seeding is perfect, Flames was placed first from EU, facing BNE, the last from the Challengers stage. What is wrong about it? Also NAVI placed last in the EU RMR, which means they would face the best team from challenger stage. If you dont understand this then I really doubt you ever watched CS before

Still, these placement depend on the rmr seeding, I'm happy for teams like bne but they didn't play against t1 and got to the legend stage. The Better team they played was Ence and obviously lose that match.

I know that the seeding sounds very reasonable at papers The higher seeded team get to face the lower one But I'm complaining here because of how easy or random to get a high seed or a lower one. Take for exemple team like cph who had to face sprout sinners in a best of ones and then shaky ninjas in a best of three. They got lucky and thats why they are high seeds and now they are playing against the easiest team in the legends. Take navi now a team that had to face og heroic forze and vitality to reach that stage. I m not saying they should do the seeding manually they just need to make it more balanced.

I think it just turned out bad because the score performance at RMR and the challenger stage didn't quite match up to team rankings, and the discrepancy between RMR A and B.

put the teams with the best chances into the 7 progressing slots and put a team that can surprise into 3-0. If the team you put into 3-0 loses one game you don't get the point for that team, even if they go through 3-1, so you basically waste one point if there is an upset against NaVi or FaZe.

Seedings are done based on results from the last major and the RMR's. The top 5/6 teams *from the matches that counted* have avoided each other.
