Heroic take down Liquid, CPH Flames outlast BNE to start off Legends Stage
The first two matches of the PGL Major Antwerp top 16 stage have been played out.
Heroic have made the first step towards qualifying for the playoffs with a solid 16-11 victory over Liquid, whose French import Richard "shox" Papillon has a terrible start to the match, going 1-14 K-D on the offensive side of Vertigo.
On the B stream, Copenhagen Flames and Bad News Eagles has a barn burner of a game — the underdog side had the lead for the majority of the match, but CT side fumbles allowed the Danish side to pick up the victory by the smallest of margins.
Heroic started their first game at the Major on fire, sprinting to a 6-0 lead on Vertigo which was inspired by René "TeSeS" Madsen. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Keith "NAF" Markovic combined to get Liquid's first and the momentum switched quickly, a 2v5 won by Josh "oSee" Ohm and NAF led to a tied scoreline at 6-6.
Bringing out more early aggression worked for Heroic to get back into the lead before the swap, with Martin "stavn" Lund's pistol clutch pushing them closer to victory (12-6). Liquid chained four near-flawless rounds to get to double digits, but TeSeS came alive again with opening kills and multikill rounds to secure the win for his team, 16-11.

Flexing their form from the Challengers Stage, Bad News Eagles were hot to trot on the T side of Ancient, bagging a 4-0 early lead. Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgensen went big to get his team back on track, but the two rounds the Danes won were followed up by a loss to a low buy and a fumbled 3v5, letting the Kosovar team get back into it (7-2).
Copenhagen Flames got up to six rounds before the swap and made it a 6-round streak on the offense thanks to Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard's 1v3 in the pistol, seizeing control of the game for the first time. Another low-buy win from Bad News Eagles stopped their momentum, making the game neck-in-neck for the final few rounds. At 14-14, Copenhagen Flames pulled off an amazing late-round fake to get B for free, leaving Bad News Eagles with a low-buy to fight for overtime. Despite getting two openings, the Kosovar team failed to close out the 5v3 as jabbi's double sealed the deal, 16-14.
