fnatic down to two players after benching ALEX and poizon
Only Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson and William "mezii" Merriman now remain on the active roster, around whom the organization will build a new team.
fnatic have announced that they have moved Alex "ALEX" McMeekin and Valentin "poizon" Vasilev to inactive status and that Peppe "Peppzor" Borak has returned to the fnatic Rising academy squad.
The move leaves the active lineup with just two players, KRIMZ and mezii, who have been the highest performers for the team in 2022 with a 1.03 and 1.07 rating, and fnatic are now heading for another overhaul after having made several changes over the past three months.
Owen "smooya" Butterfield was the first to leave the roster in late February and the team went on to trial Iulian "regali" Harjău and poizon for his replacement. Just before qualifiers for the PGL Major began fnatic were dealt another heavy blow when their star player, Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin, was bought out by Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Peppzor came in from the academy team at the last minute.

Despite having little time with the new players fnatic managed to qualify for the Regional Major Ranking event and surprised many with a playoffs finish at ESL Pro League Season 15, but since then their results have taken a turn for the worse. They were eliminated from the RMR itself in 12th-14th place and missed out on a spot at the Major before also failing to qualify for IEM Dallas.
It's unclear where the organization will turn for replacements, but, as always, the Major is certain to shake things up and put players on the market. Some have already made early moves and announced plans of changes, with the most notable being OG benching Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså while reports suggest that Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen is also out of the roster.
fnatic are in a race against time to put together a new team, as they have been invited to compete in the Pinnacle Cup Championship taking place in Lund, Sweden, in a little over two weeks (June 8-11).
fnatic's roster looks as follows:
Alex "ALEX" McMeekin (inactive)
Valentin "poizon" Vasilev (inactive)
