Imperial target chelo to replace fnx - Report

Reports link the 'Last Dance' roster with changes just six months after its inception.

Two reports have come out on Thursday suggesting changes are coming in the Imperial camp around Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo. According to Draft5.gg, Lincoln "⁠fnx⁠" Lau is on the way out of the team, while Dust2.com.br says MIBR's Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes is the favorite to replace him.

Both reports claim replacing the 32-year-old veteran is proving difficult, however, as Imperial have yet to complete a buyout, with names such as Rodrigo "⁠biguzera⁠" Bittencourt, Lucas "⁠Lucaozy⁠" Neves, and Jhonatan "⁠JOTA⁠" Willian also being on the organization's radar but all looking unlikely to make a move.

Should fnx's departure be confirmed, it would mark the veteran's exit from the team only six months after the Last Dance roster was first officially brought to light and saw the reunion of the two-time Major-winning core of fnx, FalleN, and Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga.

In that time, the 32-year-old was the team's lowest-rated player by some distance as the only player averaging below a 1.00 rating (0.90) while the team showed some promise at first, qualifying for PGL Major Antwerp and managing a top-11 finish there.

More recently the team struggled to replicate that success, winning just two in their last 13 matches as they went out in last place at IEM Dallas, REPUBLEAGUE Season 3, and the Roobet Cup, and exited the Pinnacle Cup Championship and IEM Cologne Play-in in the early stages.

he loves cs, events, the fans, thestage, traveling , parties but when they get home and have to practise 8hours a day, this part I dont see him doing at all lol, not at this stage in his life, maybe for a short period of time. And would call it mission acomplsihed, he did his job and kinda made this group of players relevant again.

Stats dont tell the whole story but theres no excuse for being that bad. 0.79 across the tournament. only players lower were hooxi (igl) gxx- (igl) shox (more washed than fnx even though shox is my favourite player)

Shox nowhere near as washed, if he played the major with vita i couldve seen him on 1.0+ Imo shox is much better than what it seemed like on liquid. That liquid team didnt work with him, he didnt work in the roles they put him in, it was overseas away from his family (he is a big familyman). I hope he gets another chance in a lineup where he can teach some young players how to be a professional player

Chelo is a good replacement tbh but it really isnt something of a massive change that would propel Imperial further. They need major shakeups to be relevant in terms of the matches they play.

Absolutely, he and brnz4n are the only ones capable of play at decent rating against tier1 on MIBR, just look at the stats. Chelo even had an 1.75 rating against Heroic on Inferno @ Pinnacle Cup! And... he already show interest in started to call, which is good for him, Fallen and the organization, considering Fallen should be retired until the end of 2023.

I am not saying Chelo is bad , though calling him the 3rd best BR rifler is an overstatement , i would at least put Fer ahead of him but i still dont belive him alone would be enough to catapult Imperial even further. But still its a good change , any change which takes out a deadweight legend like FNX is a good change.

Fer has moments where he may be more impactful than kcerato. But these are typically individual maps on lan. He isn't as consistent as chelo is right now. I would agree fer has huge upswings but he isn't consistent always game to game at this point in his career. He tends to keep high rating wise because those big games are really big. Fer still a monster just not at the consistency right now as some of the younger gen.

FNX is an excellent player, but for the present it is not being more useful, because it has been without working as a team for a long time, I think it's worth the replacement. You will always be a spectacular player and can do very well being a streamer and content creator.
