EG announce neaLaN addition, promote HexT to main roster
The North American organization partially confirmed the rumors but decided to promote one of their in-house players instead of signing Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier, after all.
Evil Geniuses have announced the signing of Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov and the promotion of Jadan "HexT" Postma from EG Black to the main roster. Former Copenhagen Flames manager and coach Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg has been announced as the team's new head coach, as well.
The announcement comes in part as a surprise after reports linked EG with the signing of misutaaa, who is reportedly on the chopping block in Vitality, with the French-Danish squad aiming to buy Lotan "Spinx" Giladi out of ENCE.
Sources close to the situation tell HLTV.org that the reason why the Frenchman's move fell through at the last minute is that the organization wished to retain a North American core for the upcoming Regional Major Ranking event leading up to the IEM Rio Major in order to avoid utilizing a loophole in the rulebook.

With the official Major rules saying a team can choose which region to play in if their lineup is split evenly between two regions, EG would have been able to use the European core and still play in the North American RMR by submitting a North American substitute, which would create a 3-3 split between EU and NA. However, this was a solution that Evil Geniuses were not comfortable utilizing, our sources say.
neaLaN and HexT replace William "RUSH" Wierzba and Jake "Stewie2K" Yip in the roster. The latter player recently announced that he would be stepping away from competitive Counter-Strike and focus on streaming instead, a move that came in the aftermath of the team's series of atrocious results under his leadership.
Meanwhile, Vorborg effectively replaces Damien "maLeK" Marcel in the head coach position. The Frenchman was moved to a non-active role in Evil Geniuses in May, a few weeks after the previous roster played its last match in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown.
The new lineup is set to debut in a little over two weeks' time, in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, taking place from August 19-28.
Evil Geniuses now have:
Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte
Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov
Timothy "autimatic" Ta
Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov
Jadan "HexT" Postma
Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg (coach)
