First set of teams from EU and NA qualify for RMR

MOUZ and Complexity are among the biggest names to make it past the open qualifiers.

The first set of open qualifiers from North America and Europe have reached their final stages, which means six teams have already secured their spots at the RMR. Two teams from North America and four from Europe have all made it past the open stage, and will compete at their respective RMRs in October. For the qualified teams, their final matches will only affect seeding at the Regional Major Rankings.

After reaching the Europe Open Qualifier semi-finals, MOUZ, Sprout, Aurora, and Falcons have clinched four of the five RMR spots on offer with the fifth qualified team yet to be determined. BLUEJAYS, OG, Portuguese Family, and ECSTATIC are the four teams still in the running for the final spot, and will battle it out in the fifth place decider bracket.

Complexity dominated the NA open qualifier

MOUZ and Sprout barely broke a sweat on their side of the bracket as they breezed through their competition, meanwhile Falcons edged out the new-look rosters of Copenhagen Flames, fnatic, and OG to guarantee themselves an RMR spot in a series of tight-knit matches. Finally, Aurora's run to a place at the RMR saw them take down four-time Major champions Astralis in the round of 16, followed by a reverse-sweep over BLUEJAYS in the quarter-finals.

Over in the North America Open Qualifier, the pair of Complexity and Gaimin Gladiators are the first teams through to the Americas RMR from the open stage. Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's squad ended their ten-match losing streak with a flawless run to the open stage's grand final, while Gaimin Gladiators' dominance against Brazen ensured the Americans' RMR qualification.

The teams participating at the EU and Americas RMR are currently:

I come here twice a week I wasn't surprised about them beating faceit pub teams, but by the fact that they get to play them and qualify from such a weak region while other arguably better teams have to face a tougher competition.

if u have tougher competition you have also better practice, if we take things by your logic 98% of the teams at the RMR would be from EU & CIS regions and CS would lose a great number of viewers.

Oh wait, so there's actually 4 open qualis? Last year was 2 or 3, right? So I guess it's still a pretty decent chance to get in. Still, I don't like the idea of BO1. I mean, I know there's like 500+ teams and BO3 is just madness. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Astralis fan, but if we were to replay that match 5 more times, would you say that Aurora would beat Astralis another 4 times? Highly doubt it... Idk... Just my personal opinion. But hey, I guess that's the beauty of BO1 and high level CS right? You have to be on the ball 100% of the time. Any mistakes are punished I suppose 😅🤷

i cant exactly remember how many were there last time but i guess since the no. of spots are same , there were 4 open qualifiers last time around too. BO1 format in it itself is always the biggest fault of upsets , pair it with random EU mixes and pug teams and you have the perfect recipe for disaster. Cant accommodate BO3s with a 1024 teams bracket. Astralis should still make it in the next round, the qualifiers get easy as they go by since good teams keep qualifying for them. Very rarely it happens that a pretty big team fails to make it out, though some notable T2 teams always are one step short.

Yeah fair enough. But tbf, it would be namesake and history at this point, should Astralis not make it. They're honestly pretty subar right now... Like mediocre challengers stage at best for me.... The power shift in the upper levels of CSGO have drastically shifted and it seems alike Farlig and Xyp are not pulling their weight... Not an Astralis fan, but seriously, Zyp needs to go, and if Device somehow goes back, and say they pick another good Dane up, Astralis can be pretty scary

i dont know why people are still obsessed with Xyp like idiots and his numbers when last few tournaments have proved that his better numbers dont make much of a difference in team`s result either. More than his impact it is Konfig who is supposed to be the star and frag much instead he is as inconsistent as he has ever been, often disappearing completely in the game. Was Xyp shit in first half of this year ? absolutely but lately he has been pulling his weight and doing fine, its the others who need to step up more before he gets booted. His bitch roles of being a support are fine, your supposed entry is doing nothing but shit every other time. But before any of these 2 pieces get disturbed, Farlig should be the one to be shown the door soon but frankly the only other decent awper in Denmark is Nicodoz and they missed their chance to get him. Device really has to come back. The team is a shadow of their former selves but its more than just one player under performing, individuals and their apparently assigned roles, the awp not being set up etc are all playing a fault here.

Fair point as well.. Farlig really needs to go And yeah, Konfig is really inconsistent. I mean, I'm not an Astralis fan so it's kinda good for me ahahhaa. 😅
2022-08-18 20:17
I feel like the EU qualis always have some big upsets as the few t1 teams there can end up playing some t2/3 teams in the later rounds and all it takes is a couple crucial rounds to go in the way of the underdogs and the upset is complete. Agree that Astralis should be okay, but we've seen stranger things happen

yea nah i agree and thats what i say too, not just T2 teams but random mix pugs from EU and CIS are quite scary to go up against as well and BO1 format does no favor either
