Complexity upset NAVI to secure opening victory in Copenhagen
Complexity started off their Group B campaign at BLAST Premier Fall Groups 2022 with a 16-9 victory over Natus Vincere. The North American squad played a fantastic defensive half to secure their spot in the upper bracket final, where they will face the winner of Liquid vs. G2 later on Saturday.
The Ukrainian squad felt Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev's absence, but substitute Daniil "headtr1ck" Valitov held his own, especially on the CT side. Natus Vincere still have options to claim the No.1 seed from the group despite the opening loss, but will have to ride the lower bracket all the way to the group stage final.
headtr1ck downed three in the opening pistol round for Natus Vincere while attempting to retake the A site on Overpass. The youngster had a solid defensive half and played a crucial role in his team's early 6-2 advantage while wielding the AWP. Complexity eased into the attacking side when Michael "Grim" Wince and Justin "FaNg" Coakley started to perform, taking the upper hand to close the half with a slight 8-7 advantage.
hallzerk immediately got the ball rolling after switching sides, making back for a quiet first half as Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's squad extended their advantage. Ricky "floppy" Kemery also began to play with more confidence on the defense and Complexity fired on all cylinders, only dropping two rounds in the second half to complete the upset with a 16-9 scoreline.
