valde on why he hasn't joined Astralis: "I'm not the one you should ask that question"

The Dane confirmed interest from a number of notable teams and explained why he chose to go with ENCE on the latest episode of HLTV Confirmed.

Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså joined HLTV Confirmed on Monday to discuss his recent addition to ENCE, touching on how practice with the new team has been going thus far and explaining what prompted him to pick that team out of the options he had during the off-season.

"I did talk to a lot of teams, probably seven or eight different teams, but at the end of the day I had to choose carefully," valde said. "For me, I prioritized the team that I felt was the best competitively, and ENCE at the end of the day felt the best for me."

valde will take up more star positions for ENCE

Milan "Striker" Švejda questioned what it was specifically that made ENCE's offer stand out given their recent changes, and valde explained that they were one of the best teams on LAN in the first half of the year, with the changes doing little to dissuade him as it was the structure of the team itself that appealed to him.

"Role-wise for me it also made a lot of sense, to a point where I could get more into some of the action spots compared to being a more supportive player," valde added. "The main thing was the roles, and then obviously the players on the team." He also clarified that he would not be much of a secondary in-game leader, but would have an active voice on the team given his roles and positions, offering Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer insight from other points on the map and suggesting different options to end rounds.

Snappi on Snax: "It was close that we picked him"

valde also touched on rumors and reports of offers from Astralis and Evil Geniuses, stating that he did have talks with Astralis but it "didn't work out" and that he wasn't "the one you should ask the question" as to why he didn't join. A move to the North American team was also on the table but fell through because the organization had to meet certain obligations regarding the number of European players they could have, as they would need to play in the European RMR upon valde's addition as they would no longer have a North American core.

In the latter half of the show, the Danish rifler discussed recent news with the panel and delved into the Group A results from ESL Pro League Season 16, as well as gave his thoughts on G2's roster changes ahead of the start of Group B.

"I think it's an interesting change," valde said of the loss of Audric "JACKZ" Jug and Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, and addition of Justin "jks" Savage and Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen. "I do agree with you that I think it's really a problem for a top team if they have such a weak spot individually. I'm not saying he [HooXi] should be a 1.00 rating or above, but I think you should be able to hold your own and not have that weak spot in other people's minds, which they feel like they can exploit.

"That's a real problem that I can see for them because when you go up against a team like NAVI or FaZe, it is just going to be rough firepower-wise, but I do think they looked a little bit better as a team overall. In a group like this, I don't feel like they can afford not to qualify for playoffs."

when the support player has a .96 rating this year (he had a 1.12 rating in 2018) playing against tier 2/3 opponents (and hardly qualifying for the major) and the awper is having an off year and still has a 1.28 rating against tier 1 opponents maybe there is a bigger problem than just xyp's roll

astralis as a org management and leadership is worse than a tier7 management, winning 3 majors and everything you can image in cs in 2 years+team sponsors and after some months with pandemic situation run out of cash so bad to extent xyp contract with 4 years and can't buy nicoodoz from cphf

The problem for Astralis is not the money, they just put published their best financial report in the orgs history (they're up 5 mio. Dkk from their cs team alone so far this year) and expect for the first time to cut even / make a profit at the end of the year which is very good for an eSport org. The problem is Astralis is run by a group of investors who are involved in a many businesses at once and they treat Astralis the same way as any of their other businesses. They essentially look to always take the best financial decision which for the most part means spending nothing on buy outs unfortunately

yeah but you think that s the reason? i mean he got better but still valde is a upgrade from every point of view. The only thing i can think of is that he is pretty old so i guess if xyp got better there is no reason no spend money on him

all the point of views we see , OG prob wanted a shit ton of money , knowing astralis need a change , they tried to overprice him , failed to do so , xyp prob brings more then just firepower , in somee of astralis comms , you can see him make calls based to help team8 (blameF eco ace on nuke T side ) and prob has so much more outside the team and is more of a mark/face to the team esp in denmark tldr ; vlad was too old and expensive to invest in , xyp is old , no money wasted besides his salarey and is doing his supports well enough to stay on the team
2022-09-07 15:05

None of the CPH players got buyouts, they were moved to the transfer market right after the Major and Fnatic being smart got Nicodoz and Roej as fast as possible. And about Valde, he was moved to the OG bench by decision of both parties, surely if Astralis showed interest in him OG would prefer to sell him than pay 50% of salary for a player of Valde's level to stay in the bench...

The case of Headtr1ck he has an active contract with NAVI, they would not let him leave for free because he is a young talent, CPH even before the last Major would have announced the complete lineup for 500k, showing an interest of sale. And yes, Sprout managed to take Zyphon out of a team that was Top 8 in the last Major with an active buyout, people on this forum are very innocent...

Very innocent?? Lmfao wtf are u saying hahaha. Both roej and Nico had made an agreement with fnatic before the major. In an interview with jabbi on dust2.dk he revealed that they were told about them joining fnatic during the major. All these players were bought out, perhaps for a smaller amount but they were bought out while still being in contract with CPHF. Same goes for Valde, there were even reports on jaxon.gg stating that Astralis had dropped signing Valde because of the price oG wanted for him.
2022-09-07 12:01
both still under contracts org dont like losing players for free , just look at CoL and JKS
2022-09-07 14:38
for Hooxi.... guy spent years playing as IGL with people who needed lots of micromanaging and his teams frequently over performed. Guy didn't have any practice with his own aim and people overstate just how easy it is to learn to aim as compared to learning the rest of the game. Aim is the easiest part, even on last match you saw hooxi hitting spray transfers after few hours of dm. So I actually have faith in that project as he seems to have a good mind for the game, he knows how to react, he's fired up which G2 needs, has pocket strats, knows how to get the best out of situation. Aiming is the easy part, he never had 4 stars around him so he can spend few hours to get his aim up to serviceable. Yes, his rating sucked but XTQZZZ would not grab him to keep him at that rating. And at the risk of getting mass reported I will repeat it - aiming is the easiest part of CSGO to learn to make it good. That's why we have 10 000's of players ready for Tier 1 but there's like 5 IGL's who are tier 1.

Btw Snappi said in hltv.org interview that THERE WILL BE CHANGES role wise. Soooo some of the positions might be same but not all. Dycha/maden also take some spots. We will see next week. /closed.

All these roster talks will affect which team made the right move by winning the major and staying at the top rest of the year. ENCE team was a top 3 contender like 1st half of the year, need to see where they will place in the 2nd half of the year.
