Playoff bracket for EPL S16 set; Heroic-NAVI to face in first round

FaZe and Natus Vincere will start on opposite sides of the bracket.

The playoff bracket has been determined for ESL Pro League Season 16 following the end of group play on Sunday, which saw Liquid and FURIA clinch the final two spots out of Group D to join the group winner, Cloud9, in the bracket stage.

Vitality and G2 went undefeated en route to topping the first two groups, while MOUZ were the surprise out of Group C, finishing above Heroic to earn a direct berth to the quarter-finals. The majority of the remaining favorites also advanced to the playoffs with the exception of Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis, and ENCE, who missed out following lacklustre performances in key matches.

NAVI and Heroic will face off in the first round of the EPL bracket

Notably, both FaZe and Natus Vincere failed to top their groups, and as such will start their playoff campaigns in the round of 12. An early meeting will not arise though as the teams have been seeded onto opposite sides of the bracket, meaning the earliest they can meet would be in a thrilling best-of-five grand final showdown.

To make it to that matchup though, Natus Vincere will first need to take on Heroic in what is undoubtedly the highlight match of the opening round. FaZe have an easier opponent in front of them in the form of Complexity, but will have Cloud9 waiting in the wings to challenge in the quarter-finals.

The initial round of matches can be found below, or you can head on over to our event page to see the schedule and complete bracket for yourself.

Round of 12 (Tuesday-Wednesday)
North America Complexity vs. Europe FaZe

Mouz got the easiest bracket possible. Still i am pretty sure that the quarters will be the end of the line for them. After losing to EF, there is no hope for them.

Well, so you see I wasn't so wrong after all. I really did wanted to see a Mouz v Faze meet. But cmmon so far Mouz has not shown any system at all, all they have done is beaten squads far beneath them, the Heroic win was based on a bad veto by Heroic. All the power to xertion, torszi and jdc but with a very generic igl like Dexter they either need far better players or need a far better igl to make them bring the best out of themselves. Mouz's current ranking is highly inflated and frankly there is not really any team in top 10-15 that you can convincingly bet they can beat on any given day. It all boils down to frozen hardcarrying them and 2 more players showing up, there is no long term gameplan on this squad. Mithr did no job on this squad and here comes Sycrone who I think have an inflated vision of his tier2 academy squad and nothing additional to offer to this team apart from brining in his academy buddies. This team needs atleast one strong seasoned igl and another seasoned awper to get back into tier 1. You can have atmost 2 youngsters in a team and still have a chance of being succesful.

Mouz has a system now, I know but apart from Heroic where Xertion played an incredible game they have not really beaten a team above them in rankings. Cologne streak was a lot of teams above them severely underperforming or undergoing changes. With the kind of competition they're likely to face it doesn't matter if it was LAN or Online, EF should have been beaten fair and square no questions about that.

memes aside, there's literally no shot G2 beat Navi or Faze in a final when the teams are actually trying and playing their best, hooxi is a tier 5 player (hence the meme) doesn't matter what strats you call, EVERY player needs to be able to frag
