ZywOo claims ESL Pro League S16 MVP award

The Frenchman earned the thirteenth individual award of his career.

Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was named the Most Valuable Player of ESL Pro League Season 16 by HLTV x 1xBet, breaking a 10-month streak without an MVP medal. The 21-year-old superstar was by far the standout performer for Vitality during the European team's journey to the trophy in Malta.

This is the Frenchman's only MVP award of the year and the first since IEM Winter 2021, bringing his total career tally to 13. ZywOo's lights-out performances throughout the tournament allowed him to comfortably beat the likes of Nikola "NiKo" Kovač, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, and Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis to the award.

ZywOo leaves ESL Pro League S16 with his thirteenth MVP medal

ZywOo was on fire from start to finish at EPL, topping the scoreboard in every group stage match to secure Vitality's unbeaten status in Group A. Some of his notable performances include the matches against Spirit and Endpoint, worthy of 1.69 and 1.61 ratings respectively.

The Frenchman did not lift the foot off the gas pedal after advancing to playoffs as he propelled Vitality to victories over Outsiders in the quarter-final and G2 in the semi-final. In the last match, ZywOo posted a record-breaking 143 frags and a 1.39 rating across the five-map series to power his team to victory over Liquid.

Top 5 all-time tournament MVPs in CS:GO:

1. Ukraine Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev: 21
2. Denmark Nicolai "device" Reedtz: 19
3. France Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut: 13
4-5. Sweden Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund: 10
4-5. France Kenny "kennyS" Schrub: 10

Vitality's star player averaged a 1.42 rating overall, and only displayed one map below 1.00 rating across the 21 played by the European squad. ZywOo also topped the charts for K-D difference (+207), impact rating (1.52), and rounds with more than 1 kill (56.3%). The AWPer also performed admirably in terms of KPR (0.91), clutches won (15), and total kills (536).

do you think all NAVI fans are all delusional? NAVI haven't had an amazing year and s1mple has been dominant but not quite so much as last year. Zywoo is the only one who could contest, and if vitality start winning everything and NAVI don't get back into major winning form then s1mple could be passed. I give it 20% chance rn, still think NAVI should be able to recover tho.

I don't know what to think about Faze, sure it was Pro League and Grand Slam but at the other hand they still have plenty of attempts left to close it out plus winning back to back Majors and Grand Slam at the same time doesn't sound bad either. Only god knows what karrigan and robban have in their notes for major
2022-10-03 04:20
Teams are so inconsistent rn so any team in top10 could win major.

This is just stupid. Giving mvp to losing player in general is dumb in the first place, but giving it during major would be ultra stupid. If you didn’t win major you were not “valuable” enough to be “most valuable player”. During Faceit London Major 2018 Electronic would get mvp even tho he lost in final, because he had average 1.36 rating vs device who had 1.26 rating.
2022-10-03 20:55
He would get it hundred% if that happens exactly as u said

exactly! SPINX isnt even in his prime form yet, Vitality can start focusing on improving their strats, we're in for a really sweet time! And its kinda deserved, ZywOo has been so close to becoming the real number 1 for so long, this project was very risky, and hopefully now it will start to pay off.
2022-10-03 01:41

+1, working on strats and the role of Spinx in some maps or atleast decide his playstyle on couple of maps as example overpass can make their veto stronger and chances of punching their name on next major even more. idk is it me or anyone else noticed that spinx was completely looked clueless in some of overpass rounds where they fumbled because of that but thank god they recovered in OT and grabbed the grand finals.

yeah they are still trying things out i guess. the past few days ive seen SPINX and magisk swapping roles on f.e. connector on Mirage, and hopefully they will find some sort of hybrid form to prevent counter strats. i guess SPINX looked human after all today, since he almost never displayed any weaknesses when he played for ENCE. most likely comms is still their worst enemy, but even that seemed to have disappeared in comparison to the beginning of the year.
2022-10-03 02:22

i doubt on comp yet, i mean you seen apex many times after round ends ( mostly won as clutch by vitality ) was directly looking to the spinX ( most of the time ) to make a clear some things happened in recent round played. so i do think comm is still not up to the mark yet but as you said hope they will find the solution and have clear eyes for everyones role in each map in major, afterall i do trust Zonic that's where he is the best and it's the best things you can get from the coach, also wanna mention that it's good for vita atleast that this finals went to 5 maps, so zonic the master mind can prepare them for atleast this 5 maps better for upcoming major and can keep one map from the 2 maps which got banned as ace when it will be needed if vita manages to go into semi or final in major ( remember astralis vertigo pick vs liquid in major which imo was their biigest ace vs them to break their half of the confidence before match even started )

yeah i totally agree, people might not like the long session, but for these guys it was a great learning process. I really want to know what zonic's influence is. All i can say is that the three Danes showed once more why they deserved all the awards they did with Asstralis. i am confident that SPINX will grow, and that should make him a solid top 5 rifler. How they started out on Vertigo by playing very dominant is exactly how i want to see these guys.

His output is crazy! Top fragged in all 5 maps and went positive by a huge margin Vitality and NaVi are very very lucky to have players like Zywoo and simple playing for them

Im gonna say smth unpopular but ZywOo Has possibility of higher peak because he came to tier 1 CS later than s1 he could have learned his opponents by analyzing before he became that good. You can see it pays off but he developed really natural instinct that creates idea of how others play. Which quite simply is insane also ZywOo s younger and this could be just glimpse of zywoo peeking. But nonetheless i agree s1 and zywoo for their teams are very lucky, its also nice that Astralis Duo have found their own superstar not needing to counter s1mple all the time. I wish them both GL in rmrs

Even if Vitality lose the champion, ZywOo will still claim the MVP for sure. His ability is incredible.

He may drop off sometimes but we as a community can be nothing but grateful to see when he pops off and sears through to his high ceilings. When Zywoo is tapped in and feeling it, he is like Neo from the matrix, he understands the game at a whole other level than his competitors. Beautiful to see. Poetry at work.
