Copenhagen Flames secure CCT South Europe Series 1 title over Monte

Thomas "birdfromsky" Due-Frederiksen's side reverse-swept the grand final to complete a run through the single-elimination playoff bracket.

Copenhagen Flames have claimed their first title win with their new roster, emerging victorious from CCT South Europe Series 1 following a 2-1 win over Monte in the grand final.

It took the Danish team three attempts to secure a win in a CCT event, their first effort in the Central Europe event being cut short by ECLOT in the round of 16, and Entropiq shutting them down in the Europe Series in the quarter-finals.

Entropiq's win over Copenhagen Flames came only after birdfromsky's side had already dispatched of the Russian team in the South Europe playoff bracket though, and as such the loss came as only a small blow, especially now that the Danes have claimed the tournament title for themselves.

regali stepped up for Copenhagen Flames on Ancient and Nuke

Copenhagen Flames and Monte both began their run in the South Europe Series in the Swiss group stage, the former initially going up 2-0 in wins before eventually scraping by with a 3-2 record, and the latter taking an opening win before needing to recover from the brink of elimination to also only narrowly qualify for the playoffs.

Copenhagen Flames fought their way past the aforementioned Entropiq in the round of 16 before taking down Websterz and FORZE en route to the grand final, while Monte took wins over Sangal, ALTERNATE aTTaX, and Tricked to earn their own spot in the title decider.

Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas and Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk kicked off the grand final series in style, helping Monte recover from an early 2-4 deficit on the T side of Dust2. The pair led the charge in a dominant performance from their side as they gave up just one additional round from that point forward, winning the map 16-5 with BOROS topping the scoreboard with a 26-11 K-D and 2.04 rating.

The momentum of the series completed shifted into the hands of Copenhagen Flames for the next two maps though, starting with them posting a strong seven T rounds on their pick of Ancient. Once they swapped to the CT side, they wasted little time in closing out the map, conceding just two rounds en route to a 16-10 finish.

Monte looked completely out of steam by the time the Nuke decider rolled around, and Iulian "regali" Harjău took firm charge of the proceedings as he helped Copenhagen Flames put up an incredibly one-sided 13-2 scoreline in the first half. Their was a short effort from Monte to come back following the side swap, but regali was again the man to step up and shut down any of those hopes to clinch victory for his team, 16-9.

They lack firepower, I doubt they will ever reach top 20 with this line-up

Simply adding firepower has never really worked in the history of professional CS. Especially if you replace a supportive element, mess up squad dynamics and add conflicting roles. But yeah obviously I do see a weak link.
