The Danes are reportedly welcoming back a familiar face after a series of dismal performances.

Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz has completed a move back to his former team Astralis, according to a report from Jaxon. device's return is the latest in a series of roster moves from Astralis, who recently parted ways with Kristian "⁠k0nfig⁠" Wienecke and coach Martin "⁠trace⁠" Heldt.

While it's still unclear who the 27-year-old will be replacing, Asger "⁠Farlig⁠" Jensen seems to be one foot out the door after another report by Jaxon reveals that he was offered to Sprout in a trade deal for Victor "⁠Staehr⁠" Staehr.

device returns to the organization that he won four Majors with

Astralis have had a woeful 2022 campaign with their best result being 3-4th place at IEM Cologne ahead of the summer break. The Danes couldn't keep their momentum going, however, and concerns started to pile up after Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander's crew just barely managed to qualify for the Europe Regional Major Ranking tournament at the final open qualifier.

From there, things quickly went from bad to worse as Astralis suffered an early exit as ESL Pro League Season 16 after failing to make it out of the group stage. The Danes' RMR campaign would be their worst-ever performance at the Major-qualifying event, as they finished with a 1-3 record and missed out on the top-24 stage of a Major for the first time in the organization's history.

device was part of the original Astralis roster when the organization was first founded in January 2016 by the former TSM members. He would go on to win a record four Major championships with the organization, three of which were achieved consecutively. He also holds the second-most MVP medals with 19, only behind Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev's tally of 21. device joined Ninjas in Pyjamas in April 2021, but the Danish sniper hasn't played in an official match in 2022 after being sidelined due to health issues.

device's first appearance with the team could be at the upcoming Elisa Masters Espoo, which is currently the final event on Astralis' calendar for the remainder of the year.

It's still up in the air who will be on the five-man roster, but Astralis' troops following the move would be as follows:

To me the only potential obstacle was the Astralis org not wanting to pay his NiP buyout. Everyone knew Nicolai wanted to return to Astralis, and everyone knew the players wanted him back too. As I said before, to me as an observer, it seemed like the only roadblock was the money- which clearly has been resolved now. But you as a Dane need to tell me: what are they going to do with MistR? He has been decent in his games so far, but not to a konfig level. I think if they want to keep MistR they need to drop xyp for some more firepower (if only bubzkji didn't move to TV...). But what do you think? Will they keep this roster? Will they drop MistR? Or will they drop xyp?

No way they are dropping xyp simply because he has 3 years left on his contract and the brand value he brings, and he has also been playing his role alright recently so I think he will stay on the roster for a while. They will 100% try to replace MistR with Staehr, but there has also been rumors that konfig is working with Astralis behind the scenes and might return in a couple of months which they might do if Staehr isn't an option.. Device has also been playing alot with konfig in faceit recently

Interesting rumors about konfig. I hope their next moves are a bit more long term. The farlig and lucky moves seemed like a gamble for a quick fix to replace device. I think +device could make them strong, they haven’t had a good awper since he left. However depends a lot on if mistR(or his replacement) and xyp can perform well in tier 1

You're expecting too much of Xyp9x. He was never 1st 2nd option. Xyp9x does best as 3rd, 4th and Ideally 5th option. As clutch is and was his speciality. With Dev1ce in, I think he can get a chance to be more himself rather than a position filler.

He will get there. Personally I think He should be set for a clutch every now and then. Everytime he gets a clutch he plays better. Look at blast, Got 2 clutches against EF. Played really well against Vitality and Heroic.

It's hard for outsiders to tell how much patience is needed for each new player. Some players adapt in no time, learn smokes after one try etc.... If Mistr is that guy, less patience needed. I also think HUNDEN is working with Astralis behind the scenes. It's a widespread rumor in Denmark that he is the best at teaching "pro basics". TLDR; Mistr might be a fast learner, and probably has the best danish CSGO teacher available, so they might keep him.

Cliffhangers sell :p Mistr surely deserves a proper trial. But just a trial, for everyone's sake. It seems like Astralis has a knack of ruining/not building up their players confidence, they should work on that as a top priority within the org. I don't want Mistr to suffer the same fate as many others.

My point there. Astralis don't have plan b for players. Everything seems rushed, not planned. Where is the talents in this team? Mistr and .. No cph players when they were free. And Device returns. I hope it is not just a flash in a pan.
