Venue for IEM Rio Challengers and Legends Stages unveiled

ESL has posted a photo of the setup for the first two stages of the Major in Brazil, which will be held in front of an audience in Riocentro Hall 6.

Less than 24 hours before the IEM Rio Major is set to start, the tournament organizer behind the event unveiled the setup in the multipurpose arena where the first two stages will take place.

The photo shows four team setups, of which two will be used for an active match, and two will be used for the setup of the following match in order to minimize the delay between games. Alongside that, a part of the seating area is visible, with the expected capacity being about 4000 visitors.

As there will be two games played simultaneously for the initial parts of both the Challengers and Legends Stages, some of the games will not be played in front of a crowd, instead taking place backstage. The backstage matches will still be vieweable to the crowd in the venue on the secondary monitors on the sides of the stage.

To identify which games will be played on the stage, you can refer to the stream link on our match pages. On-stage games will be broadcast on the ESL_CSGO Twitch channel, while backstage games will be broadcast on ESL_CSGO_B. Below is a split of the initial games.

* The article originally displayed MOUZ - Outsiders as an on-stage match, which has since been replaced with 9z - GamerLegion.

that's bullshit LMAO according to google that arena has a capacity of 18K people, considering that the stage occupies a decent part of the stadium, they're going to be 15k spectators at max.

Considering the amount of BR teams playing in the challengers I don't see any prob for it to easily be fully booked which it is. I know for sure I would go watch challengers if I lived there as these games can often be even more exciting with first timers like 9z GL on a stage/event like this.

I know it's good for the atmosphere, but it's not good for the integrity of the competition as a whole. G2 and astralis missing, combined with slowest and most boring meta ever. This major desperately needs something to add to the plus side. Soi guess thats why they do what they do.

TBH I doubt it happens, typically elimination games have priority (Usually taking A streams over much better games in years past) so those would probably be in front of a crowd but we'll see. Just how it has to be, you can't really play 2 games at the same time in front of crowds

there will be 18 matches in front of the crowd, that's 36 teams, we only have 16 teams, they can easily make it happen so every team plays in front of the crowd in an ideal scenario, 12 teams would play twice and 4 teams would play three times in front of the crowd, but I'm pretty sure all imperial matches will be in front of the crowd
