Video: Pros comment on Anubis replacing Dust2

While at the BLAST Premier Fall Final, HLTV asked players and talent about the latest map change.

Earlier this month, Valve updated the official Active Duty map pool by replacing the long-standing Dust2 with Anubis, a new community-made map that had never been played competitively before.

As always when it comes to important changes such as those made to the competitive map pool, this sparked a discussion in the community and among pros, so we used the opportunity to go around the BLAST Premier Fall Final and ask the teams and talent in attendance for their thoughts on the update.

Was Dust2 the map that needed to go? Was Anubis the best map to be added, as opposed to old staples such as Train, Cobblestone, and Cache? Have they had the chance to run around the new map? Personally I was always more a fan of Breach, but Ruby was fun too. Guess I still have hope tho, since they added breach back recently :) Hopefully it replaces dog Mirage

D2 means a lot to cs, but only hard fanboys can say that it is a good map, because its actually shit. Only semi good for pugs but still just use awp and thats it 0 fun. And on pro scene, worst map.

D2 has been stale since 2015. Want to fix d2? Open the skybox and don't allow cats to get under for almost free. Create more angles mid ct side That said idk who tf thought the timings at B were a good idea on Anubis. Mf already flashing in by the time you get there. There is too much useless territory on the map especially for Ts. The map is a cluster fuck of angles. Here's an idea Valve. Have 9 maps on rotation or do seasons. Or just add chache and season the best maps.

For someone who actually played the game back then, dust2 was never a favorite. Most the gathers/mixes, and clan practices I played in my early CS days was not dust2, perhaps more played was Inferno, it was without a doubt the best map of the old CS era. Now if I where to play on "public servers" as we called them, dust2 was great for a bit of stupid brainless fun.

Even more boring. With the Major patch on train (silencer OP af) you‘d have every ct site like 13-15 rounds. Even 4 rounds as T site was a lot when it was still on active mappool which is waaaay too onesided.

Been playing the map since its release and i don't think it was ready for pro play. A site is straight up terrible with no cover and due to how the map is layered half of the games are gonna be shift walking through water because of foot steps, similar to ramp on vertigo. As a result were probably either going to see A rushes the whole game or super boring defaults into last 20 seconds execs.

Dust2 is not by far the most played map anymore in casual and in pro matches it fell off hard. The competitive scenes needed that map to get changed

It's better to go what people want, not only by few competitive tournaments. Vertigo or ancient comes up during tournament, people tune out of streams pretty much those maps are that bad

This is a pretty common reaction to new maps, they can keep on updating Anubis until it’s better for the game. I can’t remember how many times they changed all the other maps till they were better That being said though, how come Tuscan isn’t a map that gets played. They should also bring some other maps from 1.6 that never made it to this game. Maybe russka? There’s a lot of good options out there for maps

I think It's enough of "hate" against the poor community map makers who try their best and FINALLY had a map make it to competitive, as the map was originally made by the community until bought by Valve. to G2 hunter, NiP hampus call it a valorant map, call it shit, while they haven't even played it.. to just say "bring old maps back this is CS:GO", is a poor attitude. That goes nowhere to help the game evolve, and not stagnate. At least try it before u shite on it. And no a "flyaround" through the map is not enough, because the map plays fairly well and its fun to play.
