Cloud9 have begun talks over making their first lineup change in over two years, setting their sights on multiple candidates.

Timofey "⁠interz⁠" Yakushin is on the way out of Cloud9, known CIS insider Alexey "⁠OverDrive⁠" Birukov says and sources have confirmed to HLTV.org.

The Russian squad have yet to land a replacement for the support player but are currently considering several options. OverDrive has said on his Telegram channel that Igor "⁠Forester⁠" Bezotecheskiy and Sanjar "⁠SANJI⁠" Kuliev are two of "many candidates," and HLTV.org can add that sources have indicated Timur "⁠buster⁠" Tulepov as another.

Cloud9 are looking at buster as one of the possible replacements for interz

Forester is currently contracted to Entropiq, where he has been listed for transfer since October and remained the only player tied to the Czech organization, as the rest of the team has since been released. The 22-year-old was among the best-performing players on the lineup, averaging a 1.10 rating in 2022.

SANJI and buster have been sitting on the sidelines ever since they were benched in Virtus.pro last October and this May, respectively. The former was removed to make space for Evgenii "⁠FL1T⁠" Lebedev and the latter in favor of David "⁠n0rb3r7⁠" Danielyan and Petr "⁠fame⁠" Bolyshev, moves that have since yielded the team now competing under the neutral name Outsiders a Major title at IEM Rio.

Should changes in Cloud9 be confirmed, it would mark an end to the longest-standing roster currently competing at the top of CS:GO. The lineup around Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov has remained the same for nearly two and a half years, having made their latest adjustment in July 2020, when Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov replaced Anton "⁠supra⁠" Tšernobai in the team then known as Gambit Youngsters.

Cloud9 have plenty of time to ponder their options, as they currently have nothing on the calendar until at least IEM Katowice, which kicks off on January 31. The Russian-majority side would be one of the teams guaranteed a place at the main event based on their current standing in the ESL World Ranking, but it's unclear whether they would be able to attend after Poland decided to deny Russian citizens entry into the country from outside of the European Union in September amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Obviusly a support players stats are gonna be dogshit when all his teamates are gone in the important matches. stats dont mean shit, that tells u what positions people are playing as mutch as anything. u can tell they are not themselfs. interz however have this same vibe xyp had in 2016, hes doing his role, and more, hes ready to win 4 majors and be the greatest of all time. but others like especially device are not. and then at some point the rest of his team gets ready for it. in part due to that T side comeback on train in the major. device gets over his issues and its GG for other teams. if u said oh device has 1.4 rating in group stages and xyp dosent so lets kick him and get some scrub. there is a 0 precent chance they do what they did.

hes not playing the "clutch position" there is no sutch thing. and the fact that u think there is,says a lot about your understanding of the game. if hes in a clutch esecially a 1v2 or worse the round allready went wrong. his position is support player. his main contributions are playing in realy shit spots and supporting his team with utility and giving them space. a good support player not only dose that but allso is confortable in the 40-60 duels hes gonna be in a lot of the time.

twist is not playing the same brand of support. and yes perfecto is the 1 person in the world who is an upgrade for interz, in a russian team. even xyp in his record tournament for clutches had 17 clutch wins out of 409. even this, the best case scenario its overall impact is kinda small. more important is his ability to play in disadvantaged duels constantly and still win them more than expected. and his utility usage. Allso i guess he had this ability to eigther get multi kills or get 1 kill and fall back. combined with astralis's cordinated retakes this meant he allways gave his team a good shot in rounds when they came to him. now intersz allso has some of theese qualities, and i think they would have blossomed if hes team would have stopped being chockers

Look I admire their rise. Even dupreeh said that they developed new style of play. But teams adjusted and C9 struggle to adapt. Their t-side is hard to watch mostly because they can't find opening frags with nafany.

Interz isn't bad at what he does, and apart from Forester the replacements are awful. Forester isn't a support player though, so bringing him would shake up the whole system they run

Although a roster change seemed inevitable I really don’t think Interz was the problem. Just seems like the odd man out because Sh1ro, Ax1le, and Hobbit have the stats and Nafany is IGL. Hope he finds an opportunity with another squad. Kicking Interz has to be for more firepower so I’d imagine Forester maybe Buster. The fact that they even consider SANJI who hasn’t played for over a year and was a terrible player before that says a lot. bUt hEs a sUpPoRt pLaYeR. When I think of support player, I think of someone who’s playing the bitch roles, like anchoring B apps on Mirage, or Nuke ramp anchor, or B anchor on Vertigo, and then on T side he’s just filling the gap. Fun fact: SANJI didn’t do any of this, because firepower wise he wouldn’t be able to hold down the sites, so he was there just to drop AWP to Jame. If you want to replace interz and you consider SANJI as a possible replacement, it says a lot
