k0nfig to stand in for Heroic at BLAST World Final

Heroic will be without Martin "stavn" Lund, who will rest during the last event of the year.

Heroic have announced that they will be giving stavn extra time off this winter break and he will not travel with the rest of the team to Abu Dhabi, UAE, for the BLAST Premier World Final.

The Danish squad, who just became the world's top side in the HLTV ranking after their first Big Event LAN victory at the BLAST Premier Fall Final on home soil, will therefore field Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke as a substitute for the 20-year-old.

k0nfig will play his first LAN match since parting with Astralis in October

k0nfig will make his LAN return for the first time since his contract was terminated by Astralis in October after a tarnishing altercation with a club promoter in Malta that resulted in physical injury was made public. The Danish squad was struggling at the time, having failed to qualify for the IEM Rio Europe RMR and flopping out of ESL Pro League in 13-16th place, which also prompted the organization to make changes.

The 25-year-old, who stated in November that he is ready to return to action after working with a therapist, will have a chance to show himself on the world stage with his countrymen and notorious rivals of his former Astralis teammates, although after a particularly bad year Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and his men will not be in attendance at the BLAST World Final. The tournament, which will close out 2022, will run on December 14-18.

Is getting kicked down a flight of stairs and chased and beaten what picking a fight looks like to you? If you didn't I would recommend reading the twitlonger post from k0nfig about the situation, because you definitely would have a different viewpoint.

Before the staircase thing he provoked him (is in his tweetlonger) and after that he confesed he could've stayed put and "lick his wound" (granted, he got injured because of that, but that is just more reason to simply stay put) but then had to chase (he wasn't chased, HE CHASED) the guy when he was on his way out and pick another fight and that is where he f*cked up. At least he recognizes that, and hopefully he thrives to do better.

When two people get into a genuine fight it’s often not just the fault of one. But I suppose we cannot be 100% certain how it actually happened and who is to blame, although I do understand the decision Astralis made

We also haven’t heard the other side of the story. Imo, konfig is a scary looking guy, if I saw him drunk and demanding to be let into a night club, I’d be worried about everyone’s safety. Even though it’s kinda bullshit, the night club owner has every reason and right to not let him

To us he is not, to the public and to owners, security guards he is. If he came up to me drunk, demanding to be let in, late at night I’d be afraid. if it’s really late, people tend to be more afraid, especially when they are tired. You’ve also got to think for the people inside the club, based off of their interaction, there is a potential to put others at risk, which is way worse then denying someone’s entry

no need to force it. I'd rather have one of my best players take a break and rest not overplay, burn out and potentially be out of lineup for longer period of time. They finished 2nd in Major and right after won Blast Fall Finals. I don't feel like they need to prove something in World Finals, they can chill as far as I care personally

He did the right thing, until he didn't. Shit happens to all of us. Cancel culture is miserable at acknowledging peoples flaws in a human way, and was abused by Astralis IMO. All he needed was a break, not a sacking. Too shortsighted a decision by Astralis management, and one which now stands as a permanent note when judging their man management.

It isn’t about money, their salary is enough. Price pool size is only publicity at this point for the teams competing at this level. It is about prestige and I believe a LAN in their home country in front of a crowd is more prestigious than some random final in the dessert just before Christmas isn’t something to care about. You never hear other about price pool in other sports, you just expect it to be adequate.

It was last year, but you can understand why he doesn't want to play during that time of year.

sure, he will want to visit his grave and light a candle during the anniversary and all of that stuff. if he played it would still be in the back of his head

i am fully aware of the situation with his brother last year. And surely his break has something to do with that. but stavn has performed at toplevel the last couple of months.
2022-12-04 17:03
Ye only takes a year to forget and get over your older brothers suicide. Fuck off.
2022-12-04 16:18
Orgs don't build their economy around prize money. Those are more flashy in your eyes than theirs. And it's being played in an area which isn't suitable for any sports, indoors or outdoors.

Does heroic not think about their PR of having k0nfig? or do they not care about their reputation at all?

Ofc they don't these clowns didn't have any issues bringing back even that scumbag HUNDEN

Are you talking about astralis or heroic ? I'm confused. Astralis is already hiring huden as a third party. Konfig is a free agent and if he does well, he makes astralis look like assholes.
2022-12-04 16:00

Heroic brought him back after he cheated once. They even had posters across denmark saying HUNDEN is back lol
2022-12-04 16:08
On the opposite, they care. Imagine if konfig does well, Astralis will look like assholes. Heroic is winning against astralis and it is a rivalry between them. Konfig is also just a standin

It doesnt even matter if k0nfig plays well. the reason why he got kicked wasnt becuz he was bad but becuz of that alcoholic/nightclub issue. it hasnt even been half year since that
2022-12-04 16:01

Hunden cheats 2 times, the astralis ceo even make a stupid tweet about it. And now, they hire him as a third party. Konfig did stupid things but it was outside of cs and nothing against heroic. He is a good stand in player and has everything to prove. It will be totally stupid to refuse him for something heroic don't care at all.

well. lets hope k0nfig learnt his lesson then. since if he does it again during being stand in for heroic, its heroic who will look rly bad

I doubt it tbf. Astralis mood was horrible and he did it after he lost against heroic (the irony).

Astralis didn't kick him due to his performance tho?How does that matter

I doubt they did it before the rmr tbh. konfig play poorly but, he was still the second best player in his team.

You realise that, since being kicked from Astralis he constantly linked stories on IG about him getting drunk and being out drinking? and to top it off he not only had the fight in malta but also with certain TO's. yeah "exaggerating" lmfao maybe look into stuff a bit before commenting.
2022-12-10 15:06
1. Extra time for stavn to catch up with family matters and rest. 2. k0nfig chance to show he's in good shape, maybe can catch the eye of other orgs. A big W for both sides.

So heroic is easy target on blast for other teams xD If he will play like last match with endpoint as stand in, its gg. He was like 34-57 after bo3 xD

Stavn stats have been worse than before, but in all honesty, how can he be tired from this amount of tournaments? Heroic have only had Blast, major and Pro league. Well pretty much same as all top teams, but still. Not that many tournaments at all considering.

K0nfig still a great player just need the right roster. Like when JKS filled in for FAZE, he played amazing. Who knows, heroic might be a good spot. He needs to act right AFK tho.
