Endpoint win 10th ESL Premiership title, qualify for EPL Conference

Endpoint's domination of the UK scene continued, but they were made to work for it by Viperio.

Endpoint secured their 10th ESL Premiership title and 8th in a row by dispatching Viperio in a tight 3-2 game, also earning themselves a spot in the ESL Pro League Conference 17.

Even though Endpoint were playing with a stand-in in the form of Thomas "Thomas" Utting, the series was closer than many may have expected, with the first three maps all going to 29 rounds and the series itself going all five maps. Over 100 places separated the two sides in the world rankings before the game began.

Surreal posted a 1.24 rating over five maps to help take the victory

Endpoint have spent much of 2022 hovering just outside the top 20, hitting their peak ranking of No. 24 with the current core in March. Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas departed the roster not long after said peak and since then the squad has undergone multiple changes, first bringing in Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye, then swapping Joey "CRUC1AL" Steusel for Miłosz "mhL" Knasiak, and finally releasing Kjaerbye and picking up Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko.

The team largely still managed to maintain a ranking in and around the top 30, only recently dropping out into the top 50 due to Kjaerbye's departure.

They secure themselves a spot in the ESL Pro League Season 17 Conference, where the likes of Outsiders, Imperial and Movistar Riders await. Endpoint qualified for ESL Pro League Season 16 via the Conference and beat Natus Vincere 2-0 in a notable upset win during that season, and will be hoping to repeat the feat once more.

Viperio sport a core of players that have been together since 2021 when they represented Coalesce, briefly peaking at No. 62 in the world in the month following their exit from that organisation at the beginning of 2022.

Since that time the squad has cemented itself as one of the best in the UK scene, recently defeating Into the Breach twice to claim regional trophies, first at the SteelSeries Nova Cup and later at the UKIC Beyond Summer Invitational.

I miss the original Anexis Gaming roster, or at least I think they played under Anexis Gaming. RattleSnK and 4 other former CS: Source pros.

Nice that ESL gives free passes to EPL Conference for teams like Endpoint, Eternal Fire and Movistar, but teams from Nordics, CIS or CZ/SK have to fight for single spot in ECL.

Yeah even cz/sk have more competitive teams than Switzerland or Benelux that have their national leagues, thus spots in Conference.

what's the point Endpoint being in this if the only reason they're a majority-UK lineup is because they used a player that isn't theirs? UKCS not disappointing as usual

It's the same in German National Championship, Sprout uses german standins.
2022-12-04 23:52
That's usual in ESL nationals. Just look up German league, Sprout play with 2 different players, same as PENTA or MOUZ back in the days.

ESL Regional Championships should be for national rosters only, three players shouldn't be enough. Endpoint and Sprout exploit this by using standins to get easy spots at EPL Conference. Regional Championships should serve to grow national scene by supporting rosters with 5 players from specific country.

Ha at 2-1 I thought it was a BO3 and Endpoint had not won Prem for once Getting to see uni boys playing at Chillblast this week has really driven home how good players at the top of CS are Endpoint beat Viperio, and destroyed players like those on Arctic Raptors Meanwhile 2 of the Arctic Raptors guys outclassed my cousin who's the best player I know CS only really matters down to T3, but beyond that there has to be another 5 or 6 tiers of distinctly different skill level, where players are good, but would still get wrecked by those above them
2022-12-05 00:28
Why is this news? You didn't post an article for Master League Portugal, nor for other National Championships that also give spots to ESL Pro League Conference, but it's the UK, so they deserve more, right? Lol

UK CS has been like this forever. In the past it was dominated by 4Kings (who were not good internationally) and nobody in the UK could get close to them to reach international LANs to gain experience so the skill was never passed down.
