BLAST release World Final opening matchups

The action starts on Wednesday, December 14 with the first two matches of the group phase.

BLAST have announced the initial matchups for BLAST Premier World Final 2022, the tournament which will bring their 2022 circuit to a close. The event will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and will host eight teams competing for the lion's share of $1,000,000 between December 14-18.

The opening matchups were based on teams' seeding, which was determined by teams ranking each other ahead of the tournament.

BLAST Premier World Final will be the last big event of 2022

The eight teams will be evenly divided into two double-elimination groups from which three teams will advance to the playoffs. The unbeaten squads from each group will earn a ticket directly to the semi-finals, while the second and third-placed participants will battle it out in the first round of the knockout stage.

BLAST confirmed that the World Final will be played on CS:GO's latest patch, meaning that spectators will see the effects of the changes to the M4A1-S and AWP in tier-one Counter-Strike, as well as the new active duty map, Anubis.

The first match will see Liquid take on current Major champions Outsiders, setting up the first-ever matchup between Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis and his old teammates. FaZe vs G2 will be the second fixture from Group A, with Finn "karrigan" Andersen's men looking to continue their resurgence after a grand final appearance at BLAST Premier Fall Finals.

Heroic will take on OG in Group B's first match. The Danish squad will play the event without their star player Martin "stavn" Lund as the 20-year-old takes some extra time off and will be substituted by Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke.

The day will end with Natus Vincere's matchup against Vitality, and everyone's eyes will be focused on the Ukrainian core's use of substitute player Andrii "npl" Kukharskyi as an active sixth member of the squad.

The opening matchups for BLAST Premier World Final 2022 are:

i mean Europe kinda carries the scene, i think its justified even tho idk why people care so much about a outsiders liquid game, acting like Americans wouldn't complain if the nba playoffs were held in Europe and the matches started at 7am or 11 on a working day lol

No amount of money should incite TO's to host tournaments in nations where it starts at 07:00 CET, and the second bo3 starting at 10:00 CET. Especially on a random Wednesday in the middle of the week. The viewership for those games are gonna be absolutely dogshit.
