Five Brazilian teams to play in ESL Pro League Season 17 as MIBR and 00NATION qualify

Only the final European spot is left to be determined to finalize the 32-team list.

MIBR and 00NATION have claimed the second and final ESL Pro League spots on offer in the North American and South American Conference tournaments, respectively.

The two Brazilian teams join three other compatriots at the tournament, including the partnered team FURIA, as well as paiN, who qualified by winning ESL Challenger Melbourne in September, and Imperial, who came through the South American Conference.

MIBR join ATK from the NA side after falling short to Gareth "MisteM" Ries and company in their first attempt to qualify. In their second attempt, the Brazilians repeated their victory over Nouns from the opening round, scraping past the American squad after a hard-fought series.

Brazil will have the biggest representation at ESL Pro League Season 17

Meanwhile, 00NATION made short work of Flamengo in their qualification series after falling to the lower bracket at the hands of Imperial in their first shot at a spot at ESL Pro League.

Just one last spot is left to be decided before the 32-team list is complete. Endpoint and forZe will fight for their ticket to Malta in the European Conference's lower bracket final, taking place at 19:00 .

ESL Pro League Season 17, which now features a new format after it has been expanded from 24 to 32 teams, will run from February 22-March 26. Each week one group of eight teams will play in a triple-elimination format before the top 16 teams converge in the playoffs in the final week of competition.

Below is an updated list of teams who will take part in the tournament:

Australia 2 spots, brasil 5?? i think and Europe 3 xD 9ine, Sprout, Falcons, and today's loser Forze or Endpoint deserve play here more than Pain, ATK, Rooster or Rare Atom....

First thing: it's south America qualify. Second: that's only 2 spots. Furia and Pain were already qualified and MIBR qualified in NA.
2023-01-21 11:00
brazil only has 2 spots furia is a partner team, pain qualified by winning esl challenger and mibr was in the NA conference I agree that europe have better teams and so should get more slots but brazil (south america) deserves more spots than australia and asia

That's not true. Furia is better than this teams. Pain and imperial are on the same lvl of forze/endpoint/sprout and 9ine. Fluxo and 00nation are pure trash way worse than any of this teams.

yeah i expect this for this 2 players, more for nqz because i think dumau is stagnated, he looks almost the same player he was on "yeah".. but the problem of 00nation are the other 3 players.. i dont think taco and coldzera right now are on level we would expect from them and latto is a average player, u have other options that could be better in your scene.
2023-01-21 14:06

latto is indeed terrible and you can't expect anything from him, i agree with you. coldzera and taco are ok there, they're teaching the kids. coldzera even was top 1 for 2 years, he can teach the mentality of a winner (who knows). but i partially disagree with you about dumau, he has changing his playstyle a lot, he's becoming a lot more aggressive. however, i agree with you, he has been kinda stagnated, i've not seen a great improvement from him.

what do you expect from picking up an star player and puttin him on anchor roles? coldzera is washed up and taco does the same tatics every fucking round, this team have no agro or space creator player, and taco is playing support so he don't get 0.70 status

There was nothing to understand. I just wrote the fact that they have many teams since they have their own qualifier. Give DK their own where low tier teams not qualifying in EU can compete and they would also have a lot of teams. If anything just having NA is already a free pass for a lot of team that would have no chance in EU.

no one hates mibr for playing in NA I for one like when br teams play in NA even if they feel it's easier(not saying they do) if lower teams play good teams they get better which is needed since all t1 org is in eu 300 days of the year. I personally want American tournament like the rmr to be more common to have regional battles since it looks like the Americas pro league won't be back or anytime soon at least

+1 raising the competition bar and having more teams to practice/play against is always good for both sides, although Visa issues are probably the biggest reason to why there isn't many tournaments with teams from SA and NA, yeah the top 7 SA teams probably all have American Visas by now but that's about it and I doubt many NA teams have any SA Visa, plus it's not easy to convince Furia and Liquid to participate in a tournament with basically only tier 2-3 teams in it
2023-01-21 14:27
1 reply
furia and liquid wouldn't be needed if there is diverse teams like a 9z, 00, atk eg white/black, pain, team one, nouns and fluxo having different play style also benefits teams like EU got different counties with different play styles cis slow and methodical vs a danish style that re-agro spots for info and sometimes just gamble stack for basically no reason but a feeling like I never saw a shark outside a tournament they qualified for if there A lot of teams unknown to everyone outside SA scene like the team that br tried to play in NA major quali but got rejected I never heard of them b4 that even some tournaments in Mexico would be nice
2023-01-21 15:11
I'd really prefer 2 top br teams like in 2017 than 5 that won't have chance of winning

Considering that we have 32 instead of 16 teams now, wouldn't it be normal to double the number of Br teams as well? I don't understand why so many people are mad because of this, it's not like any good EU team was left out, none that would do much better than these Br teams anyway

Everyone complaining about the number of brazilian teams but the truth is that the problem is not the amount of qualify spots for brazilians as we only have 2 qualify spots, same as Asia, Oceania and NA while only having 1 partner team, the real problem is NA that has even less good enough teams than SA but also having 3 partners teams and 2 qualify spots, so yeah Mibr as only the 7th best SA team was not supposed to be there in my opinion, but Nouns would be as bad, if not worst as a replacement and even ATK is also worst than any of the other 4 brazilian teams. Tldr: You can't just give NA 3 partner + 2 qualify spots and complain about having too many brazilians

NA has 3 partners and two qualifier spots = 3 NA teams at the Pro League. SA has 1 partner and two qualifier spots = 5 SA teams at the Pro League. Unfortunately, only FURIA will qualifier or even win one match
