Astralis oust NIP to BLAST Showdown

Astralis are now heading into a do-or-die match against OG on Sunday.

With a 2-1 victory in the Knockout Stage, Astralis have ousted Ninjas in Pyjamas from the BLAST Premier Spring Groups (Overpass 11-16, Mirage 16-7, Ancient 16-10).

Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen's team is now relegated to the BLAST Showdown, where they will have another chance to qualify for the Spring Final. The team was forced to use a stand-in, Max "maxster" Jansson, halfway through the event after Hampus "hampus" Poser withdrew due to "unforeseen personal circumstances," and went on to lose two consecutive series en route to their elimination.

Astralis are now set on a collision course with OG in a do-or-die match for a spot at the BLAST Premier Spring Final, taking place on Sunday at 18:30 .

blameF stood out as usual as by far the best fragger on the server

Playing in their debut with Christian "Buzz" Andersen and for the first time on LAN with Nicolai "device" Reedtz, Astralis continued to look out of sorts when they entered the series against Ninjas in Pyjamas but recovered well from their opening loss on their own pick of Overpass.

The ever-present Benjamin "blameF" Bremer played a key role in that recovery, topping the scoreboard in their following two map wins with a 1.82-rated performance in a comfortable victory on Mirage and 1.31 in a closer affair on Ancient.

Having played a rough debut up to this point, Buzz played his best series so far at the Groups with a 49-50 score (0.94 rating), stepping up in a couple of key moments early on Ancient in particular to help his team clinch the series.

Yeah as I wrote below igl'ing is more than calling, it's being a pillar of strength for your team.

Exactly why hooxi does fine in G2. They needed a rock more than ever, especially after jackz stopped playing for them. Hooxi is different type of rock, always carrying an slightly silly giggling attitude. He is serious about not being too serious 😜

AleksiB's body language throughout the last 2 maps, was an utter disaster. The frustrations he kept showing, was not good for the team morale

It's frustrating being an igl, but acting that way all the time doesn't show strength to your team. Being an igl is more than calling, it's being a pillar of strength.

+1 They need to fix him ASAP or throw the white towel and get another IGL. He has zero leadership qualities.

He certainly proved that the mental aspect is very important for an IGL.
2023-01-29 10:25
At least they didn't go down 2-0 against them or Navi. And notice that they had to use academy player to fill in Hampus' spot, inexperienced in T1, but wasn't that bad at the end. Now they can start to train with k0nfig, cant wait to see that lineup in action

NiP just looks like a dead team walking. After the major there hasn't been a single positive thing going their way. Or even at the major.

Cause me aleksib brings the morale down and he knows his old 2019 strat can't work... hell even when I try to igl in lvl10 I loose max 3-4rounds in T side=_= but whenever i see him igl even against shit opponents he doesn't seem to learn how they play on the go and the strat... sure i tilt at my teammates but after the game and they know it's to make them better and to make sure we don't make the same mistake... (yes random lvl10 igl but I've tried learning from aleksi and trust me there's nothing new since halfway in og..)

No nip as team sucks. And their coach does nothing. You need real leaders as coach for the most teams In that regard, blade or gobb are role models that have direct impact on the player itself and the team.

3 players and a coach didn't win. He was IGL for gla1ve, back when gla1ve was 14, already seeing the IGL talent back then. He is basically the most important person in Danish CS.

PR wise yes, but hunden has had his hands onto a lot of players over the years. Seen from viewer perspective, karrigan, seen from players perspective, HUNDEN.

Danish CS is back lads lol NIP they only got one player who is a beast anyway it's R EZ the rest is useless starting from sexiB.

Hampus is warming bench for Aleksib. After hampus have recovered he comes back to IGL

I don't think it's the current plan. But I think your scenario is quite probable anyway. Aleksib's tilting doesn't belong in the pro scene, especially not from an IGL, who should be the last to tilt, not the first. Being new to a team, and already tilting the way he did vs Astralis is a gigantic red flag for NIP.

+1, Aleksib shouldnt show frustration. He needs to be more strong mentally.

Nip going to be much stronger with k0nfig. But buzz needs to step up. Shouldnt be bottom fragging below gla1ve

I hate simple, always have. Even without knowing how he cheated, never heard the stories. Don't really feel like looking them up. Also the word sycophants is probably more appropriate.
2023-01-29 15:07
Strong CT sides from astralis as always. Their T side lets them down but ancient they seem to have some actual structure and planned methods to take map control. Watching their T side on overpass is totally different.
