TaZ's HONORIS among four teams to reach IEM Brazil closed qualifier

The Polish legend is on the hunt for his first significant LAN appearance since 2019.

Two Polish sides in the form of HONORIS and 9INE have rounded out the team list for the IEM Brazil Europe closed qualifier, with the pair of teams joining HEET and Monte who advanced from the first open qualifier.

This qualifier brought forth some exciting matchups, the most compelling of which saw HONORIS take on Falcons in a meeting that pit legendary Polish figure Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas against Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and kennyS. Once upon a time this trio fought against each other for trophies, however in this instance TaZ had to settle for progression to the qualification match as his reward for victory.

TaZ hasn't featured at a major LAN event since ESL Pro League Season 10

Elsewhere in the qualifier GamerLegion were one of the most notable casualties, with the European mix falling 5-16 to Falcons in the round of 16. Other top-30 squads also missed out as 500 were bested by SINNERS, Eternal Fire fell to VOYVODA, and Copenhagen Flames were ousted by 9INE.

The first open qualifier in Europe saw Monte and HEET successfully earn their spots in the closed qualifier, with both teams beating out multiple better-ranked squads to do so. Monte had the easier of the two draws to contend with, their toughest matchup coming in the round of 16 where they dispatched HAVU.

HEET by contrast had to face off against Apeks and Eternal Fire, two of the highest-ranked names in the qualifier, and they succeeded despite having just revamped their squad after the recent departures of Aurélien "afro" Drapier and Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro.

Whilst the teams are set for the Europe closed qualifier, there is still one spot up for grabs for the closed qualifiers for South America and North America. Complexity, paiN and Vendetta are the names already confirmed for NA whilst 9z, 00NATION and O PLANO are on deck in SA.

honestly both qualification for pro leauge and win of challenger will be nothing if you manage to get into iem Rio just my opinion, since at Rio.. is still an "s-series" event

But If is the key word here. If they got eliminated in closed quals then making epl is bigger achievement, even tho its nice to see Honoris doing good

Same. Figured maybe they bring him in after grashog but I guess he is preoccupied. They would get a boost IMO if they did, over grash or lunatic he is better fragger and clutcher

yea hes trash this is vs t3/t4 btw hltv.org/stats/players/events/165/neo he's a legend but since he started the org with taz maybe he works behind the scenes now my best guess

hmmm i mean he had 0.92 rating when team had only 38% winrate so no THAT bad overall for instance grashog had 0.86 rating but team had 55+% winrate
2023-02-01 14:22

they all sucked but NEO shouldn't be an excuse for being bad he's played T1 and literally a legend since 2005-2006. He is just washed.
2023-02-01 14:25
1 reply
yep i know he is washed and they all sucked, i just meant that he had his moments and if he was brought back instead of grashog he would put up way higher numbers tho adding one more young talent would make way more sense
2023-02-01 14:28
I mean how can you expect the team to be somehow good with neo and taz in your team in 2023, they are both 0.9 rating at max

Zlatan alike Legend ngl, i hope players will up their age minimum and some play till like 36y like TaZ does the guy really gave up his life for CS even though his stats might not prove well for that. He genuinely is giving second live for Polish CS because he basically formed Honoris organisation on his own
2023-02-01 21:01
Poland could make solid tier1 team with coach like Taz/neo. There is alot of talent but its like NA a while ago. Nobody cares or some1 doesnt like some1 else and wont play with him etc.

Because if the polish cs starts to atleast enter these kind of fields. That means that it is evolving and as time goes by the evolving also means that they might get the players needed to actually win t1 or t2 events that's how it all happens with all teams
