Evil Geniuses under early pressure in NA RMR closed qualifier
An overtime loss to mix-team yur means Evil Geniuses are under early pressure in their campaign to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major.
The first day of play in the North American Regional Major Ranking closed qualifier has already seen its first upset just four matches into the start of the competition, as yur brought down Evil Geniuses in an overtime affair on Nuke the opening round of the Swiss group.
The squad, which features a former EG Black member Anthony "CLASIA" Kearney, previously lost to Evil Geniuses in overtime on Nuke in the open stage when playing with the same core under the tag Demon Time.

Now, the underdogs took their revenge on the back of 30-bombs from Matthew "d4rty" Paplawskas and Ethan "reck" Serrano, as Evil Geniuses dropped an 11-4 lead due to a lackluster start on the offensive half despite a strong individual performance from Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov.
Evil Geniuses are now under threat and look to score three consecutive victories to avoid danger in the second phase of qualifiers for the BLAST.tv Paris Major. Only seven teams advance to the Americas RMR, which means teams with 3-0 and 3-1 records and the highest-seeded 3-2 team will advance directly, while the bottom-seeded 3-2 teams will play a tiebreaker match for seventh place.
In other matches of the first round, MIBR survived a close call on Anubis against Take Flyte and paiN fended off Noah "Nifty" Francis's 4ORMULA, while Detonate dealt Nouns an early loss.
