Nouns complete BLAST Spring Showdown Americas team list

The North American lineup continues to build upon its successful start to the year.

Nouns emerged victorious from Ace North America Masters Spring following a 2-0 victory over Strife in the grand final, defeating Bobby "stamina" Eitrem and company with resounding map wins on Nuke (16-10) and Mirage (16-8) to qualify for BLAST Premier Spring Showdown Americas.

The North American roster received a direct invite to partake in the Spring Showdown-qualifying tournament, and were the highest-ranked team in attendance when play began in the GSL group stage. There, an early best-of-one victory over Tsunami gave way to a loss to timbermen, and Nouns had to fight past Mythic in the Group A decider match to make it to the playoffs.

cynic averaged a 1.24 rating over 7 maps as he led his side to success

From that point onward, however, it was smooth sailing for David "cynic" Polster's side — they eased their way past yur in the semi-finals (16-7 Inferno, 16-5 Overpass) before dispatching of Strife in similar fashion, claiming a 16-10 win on their opponent's pick of Nuke and then sealing away the victory with a 16-8 scoreline on Mirage.

A steep ramp-up in competition awaits Nouns in the BLAST Premier Spring Americas Showdown, where the likes of Liquid, Complexity, and FURIA will also be vying for the single spot at the Spring Finals that will be on offer.

Even with a difficult road ahead, the relative ease with which the team made it through the qualifier helps to add credence to their capability as a North American team hoping to break into top competition consistently, and builds upon an already successful start to a year in which they have already qualified for IEM Dallas and the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR.

I mean there is complexity and evil genuises in the balst spring showdon so you can expect to see some NA moment every round, plus if liquid some how starts choking like always which is like. 0.1 chance that will be again an epic NA moment on blast stream

Timberman needs a recovery era like eminem from all the scandals they do, to understand how big of gem they can be to NA they were about to go 3-0 in rmr

They missed a chance for IEM Rio (only competed in one open qualifier - 2nd) and missed out on EPL17 by losing to MIBR. Sad times :( They already secured IEM Dallas and BLAST RMR, which is AWESOME experience. They're invited to the ESL Melbourne closed qualifier already, and they have a *slight chance* at BLAST Spring through the showdown. They could easily win ECL44 and qualify to EPL18, so the future is bright.

Do those players on Nouns have salaries ? And what about in teams like Strife, ATK, Tsunami, timbermen? If so, NA scene could be growing again… it would be nice to see Extra Salt coming back with a roster

According to Strife's IGL, stamina, only ATK and Nouns are paid well enough to play CS:GO full-time. Strife and a few other top ECL teams are paid a small salary as well, but not enough to live off of. ATK also have a team house, so their players generally pay less for housing/rent than most other players. He also said that Nouns doesn't sign contracts with its players, so if an org like CoL wanted to sign Bwills or Marke they could just do it, no questions asked. I'm not big into crypto but it seems like Nouns is basically just a crowd funded venture capital firm, pretty cool tbh. This was all on Stamina's stream a couple of weeks ago, so it might not be 100% correct, but I trust him

Interesting. I guess that players in those orgs receiving small salaries have to complement their salaries with prize money
2023-03-13 09:34
I've heard pretty similar stuff. Ik b0den and MisteM are based in Mexico, so I'd assume the ATK team house is there. Do swisher, djay, and sprayxd also live there?
2023-03-13 15:46
not as well as you might think...at best $1,500 a month per player...i could tell you Grims monthly salary when he was on triumph and it was way more than ATK or nouns are paid...way more

Another commenter says that Nouns are paid ~$2,500 a month, which sounds about right to me. ATK are probably paid a bit less given the housing situation. What did Grim make on Triumph?

On a good day they can beat all but Liquid, Furia and CoL. We've already seen them beat PaiN who just qualified for EPL playoffs.
