Jame offered insight into shock swap in pre-elimination VLOG

Dzhami "Jame" Ali's comments in a VLOG made ahead of the Aleksandr "KaiR0N-" Anashkin-David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan swap offer some possible insight into why the shock move was made.

Just hours before entering the elimination match against MOUZ at the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR, Virtus.pro announced that KaiR0N- would be replaced by n0rb3r7 as they hoped to turn their fortunes at the event.

Explained only in part by the management hinting at KaiR0N- struggling with the pressure of the Major qualifier, the abrupt decision was met with widespread criticism and has since backfired terribly. Virtus.pro went on to get eliminated from the tournament by MOUZ after a lopsided 0-2 series, causing the team to be unable to defend their IEM Rio Major crown in Paris.

Apparently speaking before the decision to swap the two players was made in Virtus.pro's VLOG, Jame shared his view that bringing in KaiR0N- at the beginning of 2023 had so far proven to be "a mistake" due to differences in roles between him and n0rb3r7.

Jame said Kair0N- needs to get used to new roles for VP to improve

"At this specific moment, I can say that this change was a mistake," Jame said following the team's second loss at the tournament to Into the Breach. "We didn't become stronger because we lost a good anchor in David [n0rb3r7]. For us to play good again in the current roster, we need Kair0N- to get used to the new roles. We've lost both an anchor and a rotator."

When questioned whether this could change, Jame said: "Yes, it is possible. I meant this specific moment."

Jame also shared his thoughts on the loss to Into the Breach and the previous to B8, both of which Virtus.pro let slip through their fingers in 13-16 and 14-16 affairs, saying he has "never lost in such a way in my career at Majors."

"Maybe it happened, but never twice in a row. We've lost some experience, I guess. In such matches, usually you get it over the line by experience. But as we could see today, it's us who were beaten by experience," he said.

"In the previous game [against B8], we had a 13-11 lead, then make two mistakes — we make these mistakes because of inexperience."

It's not clear whether the last comment related to KaiR0N- specifically or any mistakes that he might have made, but it's impossible to ignore the link to the reasoning Virtus.pro gave for swapping n0rb3r7 back into the roster. The organization's CEO, Nikolai Petrossian, hinted at the pressure of the RMR getting to KaiR0N- in a statement: "Young players do not immediately adapt to the pressure of LAN events, especially important ones like RMR."

2023-04-09 21:03
Bruh, when they did the change they knew the type of player kairon is and he did pretty well as raw entry. If he can't fit on anchor and rotator is not kairon fault, being anchor and rotator is the hardest thing to do to have impact because you need experience to know how to play to win time. They blame the kid but the blame should be on them who don't know how to adapt or select the correct player.

He's delusional, but it's true his ratings and impact it's ok for unexperience player like him. Maybe the real delusional it's jame, thinking the major wasn't a fluke or that a new player who came from nowhere would improve the team
2023-04-08 18:48
They were just in EPL playoffs, in Katowice playoffs, both with KaiR0N. Is this not big enough events? Did they brought ove Dota management to CS team when they were allowed to play as VP again or what? Because that's sounds just like the move those idiots do there. Third in LCQ? Change the players even before International plays out! Oh, both qualified teams that you lost to in LCQ ended up second and third, so maybe you were good after all? But nah, we already disbanded. Now with that happening I feel like org is desperate for in-game stickers and whatever Dota has for orgs (because prizepool usually goes to players). And while understandable, new CEO, if he's not just a man for show called "We have no more connections with Usmanov" has probably spend a lot of money and wants them back as soon as possible, but that's definitely not the way. They prepared for this event with KaiR0N, ffs. You can't just swap players in and out until it suddenly works here.
2023-04-08 17:34
6 replies
Although tbf, that's suspiciously common for Dota to happen. Even top-2 team of previous International changed 3 players, with only one changing team and not going into some mix. Just imagine Heroic going "Yep, that's it. We say goodbye to Jabbi, sjush and TeSeS" because they placed second in Rio.

You act like vp players didn't have to adjust to the guy. They bump out of the majors. Winning 1 map on the whole rmr. They beated m0uz at the last major. You dont know how kairon handle the pressure. So, even if the remplacement was shit in middle of the event, kairon shit in his pants. Ppl shit on noobert , but I guess it is okay, but poor kairon

I don't shit on Norbert. But considering that whole thing about inexpirience was said by their CEO is telling that it was not a players' decision, I could be wrong here, of course. And again, they already were in playoffs of big events against better teams. If I shit on anyone here - it is whoever decided an emergency change like that, throwing away months of work. Sure, it didn't work out, but it's not like everyone can magically go back to how they played with Norbert if he comes back overnight, you know? Do it after you go out if you think that's the reason for your current results.

I dont see this move as harsh as others i mean they gambled and it didnt work, maybe panic decision when you are down 1-2 but I guess they had no confidence in them winning, that is why they did it.

jame throwing kairon under the bus
2023-04-08 19:20
Such a dumb streak of decisions by the VP. Kicking n0rbert after winning a major is dumb on its own, but then at the last elimination match just swapping them back is absolutely a new level of dumb. They haven't played official matches for 3-4 months with n0rbert, did they really think that all of a sudden they gonna get better and match their old form? Dunno how much it's Jame's saying and how much the org decides the moves, but someone over there is delusional af. Imagine the pov of kair0n now, kid basically gets thrown under the bus.
2023-04-08 19:30
Everything about this is stupid and Outsiders/VP/Jame are making themselves look like idiots. 1. They bench Norbert because they got last place at BLAST World Final. But they only got last place at that event because they played Liquid and then G2, the two best teams in the tournament who ended up getting 2nd and 1st place. Horrible knee jerk reaction after losing to two top teams in prime form. 2. They bring Kairon on and he actually performs well for a rookie and they make playoffs at most of the events they attend. Then the whole team chokes at the RMR (Jame included, he threw the game against ITB) and they make another knee jerk reaction and pin the blame on the rookie. I’m really glad VP got eliminated. Their decision making outside the game has fucking abhorrent.
2023-04-08 19:29
Pathetic "leadership" from Jame.
2023-04-08 20:15
Checking out stats. Kairon failed one match and wasn't even bottom fraging. Norbert was hmmh idk how to say shit in Mouz series and whole team was playing badly. They benched Kairon for what having one bad game? ITB match was slump by Quikert and Fame. Other than B8 match Kairon did well atleast by looking stats compared to Norbert. It's fine for me i've hated Jame playstyle and his calls. Playing so slow. Actually im clad that VP didn't make trough qualifiers and this stupid serves them right.

Removing norbert right after winning a major was probably the dumbest mistake they made. And now that kairon swap mid tournament made 0 sense. Kairon was doing quite well imo. I don’t want to take away their achievement what very few teams in the world can do but, that major win was a total fluke. All the top teams were struggling hard at that time.
