Recap: Day 3 of Paris Major qualifiers
The penultimate day of the first three RMRs saw five more teams through to the BLAST.tv Paris Major, while some big names have missed out already. Here's a refresher on day three of the qualifiers.
More carnage at the Asia RMR
Four series, almost 17 hours of play, and half of the teams bowing out of the competition marked the third day in Mongolia.
The day began with VERTEX having to sub in their coach, David "Kingfisher" Kingsford, due to Liam "malta" Schembri falling ill in an unfortunate turn of events that ended with the Australian side getting eliminated first. Twisted Minds were too much to handle and, as it turned out, more competitive than first expected off the back of superb form from Shuaib "D0cC" Ahmad and Ahmad "SpAwNnS" Kanaan — Nikola "Lobanjica" Mijomanović's mix-team also eliminated Eruption later in the day.

Rare Atom survived day three, as well, after they were sent to the lower bracket by TheMongolz. Facing off against the other Chinese representatives from TYLOO in a series that lasted over six hours due to more server issues and finished at nearly 3 AM, the favorites prevailed. Though resilient, Invictus International bowed out in the round before after two close maps against TYLOO, in which Tal "meztal" Hahiashvili scored the performance of the day as well as the play of the tournament so far.

Virtus.pro's unprecedented player swap backfires, FaZe in danger
If there are three things to take away from day three in the European A tournament, it's that one, you shouldn't change lineups just as you're a match from elimination, two, you don't fuck with Bad News Eagles at Majors, and three, it really was coming home (that's the last time you will have to read this line here, I promise).
In an unprecedented situation at a Major qualifier, Virtus.pro made a shock move by bringing back David "n0rb3r7" Danielyan to replace Aleksandr "KaiR0N-" Anashkin ahead of their elimination series against MOUZ. It was a decision that backfired horribly as MOUZ dominated Virtus.pro to oust the reigning Major champions from the event. In two other elimination series, OG ousted Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov's 1WIN with ease and Sprout's struggles with the current lineup continued and were no match for Apeks.
It was in the qualification matches that things got much closer. Bad News Eagles screamed and cried as they made it to their third consecutive Major, doing so with an impressive 2-0 win over FaZe and adding another key victory over Finn "karrigan" Andersen and company after eliminating them from the Rio Major just six months ago. FaZe have now missed their first two chances to qualify and their confidence will have taken a hit after four consecutive map losses, heading into their third opportunity with a tough matchup ahead in MOUZ.
GamerLegion have qualified for their second Major in a row while Falcons did not make their first chance count. To end the day, Into the Breach made history for Britain, becoming the first UK-majority core to qualify for a Major with their hard-fought win over B8.
It's worth noting that the losers of the final round will stay alive, if only just — the six 2-3 teams from the two European RMRs will play for one spot in the last chance qualifier.

FURIA and paiN through, FalleN's streak ends
The Americas RMR in Monterrey, Mexico, moved into the first qualification matches. As one of the most improved teams in recent times, paiN were the first to lock in their spot at the BLAST.tv Paris Major with a quick and simple victory over Fluxo, returning to the Major stage for the first time since Stockholm.
A tough draw pitted the two best teams of the event in FURIA and Liquid against one another, and it was the Brazilians who prevailed to secure the spot and ensure their fourth consecutive Major appearance.

Meanwhile in the elimination matches, Imperial fell to Complexity in a matchup that is turning out to be one of the region's biggest rivalries, putting an end to Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's massive Major-attending streak dating back all the way to the first Major of 2015, ESL One Katowice.
Coming in as a last-minute replacement, Evil Geniuses also bowed out of the event after yet another disappointment, losing to one of the lowest-ranked teams in attendance in Paquetá in the 1-1 match. MIBR followed with a victory over the Argentinians from BESTIA, and Nouns ousted Flamengo from contention.

Performance of the day

Although his efforts were in vain, we can't help but highlight meztal's other-worldly Ancient performance against TYLOO on Ancient.
Even his 39 kills and a ridiculous 1v4 clutch were not enough to prevent Invictus International's elimination.
