ex-CLG Red, Shimmer claim ESL Impact League S3 Finals spots
The two teams topped the North American league to book tickets to Dallas.
ex-CLG Red and Shimmer have become the fourth and fifth teams to secure spots at the ESL Impact League Season 3 Finals that will take place in Dallas, Texas, USA from June 2-4. The pair of teams join NAVI Javelins, 9 Pandas Fearless, and Nigma Galaxy, who all advanced through the European online stage to qualify for the LAN finals.
ex-CLG Red were part of Group A in the North American league, where they dropped just one map to Shimmer while going undefeated in series play to top the group and head into the Play-In bracket as the higher seed. There, they made quick work of EG Gold, securing Ancient 16-11 before cruising to a 16-4 finish on their own pick of Overpass to qualify for the finals.
Shimmer, meanwhile, secured a pair of 2-0 victories over Saints and byte in Group A, and were pitted against Detonate SparX in the Play-In bracket. The Julie "Bouchard" Bouchard's side had topped Group B with a completely unblemished record with 2-0 wins across the board, but faltered in the qualifying match as Shimmer reverse-swept the series (9-16 Anubis, 16-1 Nuke, 16-12 Ancient) to qualify.
Only three spots at the Impact League LAN finals are left up for grabs — two will go to the winners of the Play-In matches in the South American league, while the team occupying the last spot will be revealed at a later date. You can find the deciding matchups for the South American league below:
