Liquid demolish Complexity to stay alive in Paris

The North American derby was an incredibly one-sided affair.

Liquid have outclassed Complexity in the North American derby of the 1-2 pool, keeping themselves alive after a slow start to their Paris Major campaign. The North Americans lost to Apeks and FORZE in the opening best-of-ones before coming back with victories against Fluxo and Complexity to reach the 2-2 pool, where they require one more win to make it to the Legends Stage.

The following teams are now in the 2-2 pool and will be joined by three more by the end of the day:

"Winning yesterday gave us a confidence boost, and now that we're in best-of-threes we feel like a new team," said Nick "nitr0" Cannella in the post-match interview, touching on their improvements with every game at the tournament.

For Complexity, this is a disappointing end to their Paris Major campaign. They started the Major well with a win against GamerLegion but were then outclassed by G2, paiN, and Liquid to exit the tournament with a 1-3 record.

Liquid now need just one more win to progress to the Legends Stage

The series was one-sided all throughout, despite a relatively close scoreline on the first map of the series, Anubis. Liquid dominated the T side of the newest addition to the map pool and racked up 12 rounds, and while they did struggle to close out the game somewhat, their victory was never in doubt. They eventually secured a 16-11 win, and the series moved on to Complexity's pick of Overpass.

The second map was an even bigger blowout, as Liquid went flawless on the CT side to put their victory beyond any reasonable doubt. While Johnny "JT" Theodosiou was able to put his team on the board with a triple in the pistol round, all Complexity were able to accomplish was a slightly less embarrassing result, as they lost 3-16 to conclude their Major campaign.
