FlyQuest venture into Counter-Strike with ex-CLG Red roster
The North American core will tackle ESL Impact Season 3 Finals under a new banner.
FlyQuest RED have acquired ex-CLG Red's roster ahead of the team's ESL Impact Dallas campaign. The news comes two months after the quintet was released by CLG Red, a consequence of the organization's dissolution following its acquisition by NRG.
FlyQuest have been an important player in the North American esports scene since its formation in 2017, and this acquisition marks its first venture into Counter-Strike. The organization is mainly known for its League of Legends squad, but has a presence in other titles such as Rocket League and Apex Legends.
"FlyQuest RED's journey is particularly significant as the organization has stepped up to “rescue” the two professional teams in CS:GO," read a statement by the organization. "FlyQuest will ensure that the important legacy of the program and its talented players can continue to thrive...this act of support reflects FlyQuest's dedication to the esports community."
"FlyQuest's unwavering commitment to ensuring our goals, legacy, and support persist has been nothing short of incredible," added Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey, FlyQuest's new Chief Culture Officer. "I couldn't imagine a better fit."
The FlyQuest RED roster was released by CLG Red during the team's ESL Impact League S3 campaign in April, but the squad stuck together until the end of the online component. ex-CLG Red eventually qualified for the event's LAN portion after a fantastic run through the regular season, in which they only lost one map to Shimmer.
The ESL Impact League S3 Finals is set to take place in Dallas, Texas between June 2-4, where FlyQuest RED will compete in their first tournament under the new banner, with a debut match against 9 Pandas Fearless as the two teams kick off the action from Group B.
