GODSENT bench draken, part ways with RuStY

The Swedish team are down to just two players.

GODSENT have announced two further changes to their roster, moving William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin to the bench while parting ways with Alfred "⁠RuStY⁠" Karlsson. The move comes just two weeks after the organization benched Joel "⁠joel⁠" Holmlund, leaving them with just two active players and coach/stand-in Maikil "⁠Golden⁠" Selim remaining on the roster.

draken was the team's joint-highest rated player alongside joel, averaging a 1.11 rating over four months, while RuStY averaged a 1.01 rating in the same time span.

draken has been benched on GODSENT

The lineup had a lackluster run together since joining the organization in January, their most notable placements being a third-place finish in Thunderpick Bitcoin Series 2 and a top-four finish in BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic 2023, where the team beat BIG, Sprout, and HEET before falling to Cloud9.

They failed to qualify for any LAN events, however, most recently missing out on ESL Challenger Katowice and previously not making it through the open qualifiers for the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR.

"Due to a few circumstances I feel like this project never really had a chance to succeed," RuStY said after the move was announced. "With that said I'm looking for new opportunities, if you need a player or a stand-in, don't hesitate to contact me."

draken echoed the sentiment in his own Twitter post. "Different views/vision on this Counter-Strike project, but this is best for all parts [sic]. I wish the team and staff good luck! Contact me or [my agency] if interested, still want to play and prove myself."

Why is it over? This is literally a good move for them. Such a shame what happened to Joel but if they play their cards right now this can end up working out really well for GODSENT and the swedish scene.

Alot better is impossible to state as we've seen neither perform at the same level draken has at tier one, with phzy, and one hasn't ever played tier one with hype. "Hype and phzy have alot more potential and are the future of the scene" i think is probably more accurate :) Normally I would agree but let's face the facts. Plopski will be the only veteran on this new team of rookies with a rookie igl. And plopski is less of a veteran than draken is. He hasn't reached the same heights with winning tournaments. So staying calm in finals for example. So if you're about to bring two rookies who don't even have tier two experience (not talking hype or phzy I mean the two riflers) and your only veteran is plopski. I feel like personally draken getting benched isn't good or bad , when you consider all the circumstances I've laid out. I feel like it's a coin flip. Just one likely worth taking. However I put more value in veteran calmness in high intensity playoff Lan scenarios maybe more than others. But just look at heroic (and cloud9 but especially heroic) Literal undeniable number two team at bare minimum , that will almost NEVER lose to a tier 2 team, a rarity in tier 1 teams nowadays, however this doesn't apply to heroic once in playoffs , then they can lose to ANYONE. Why?? Clearly they're not only skilled but have a structure worth praising and copying. Because their only veteran is cadian who's years before this stint included teams like fucking rogue , both the European and na versions.

Just speculation but I think it's somehing off-server. You remember that ESIC whistleblower last year that claimed to have "proof" of Joel matchfixing back when he was playing for Monte, and the team dismissed the evidence as insufficient, yet still benched him that same day "to protect itself and preserve its integrity". dexerto.com/csgo/scrutinizing-the-esic-w.. Yes but the article mention this whistleblower didn't have any evidence. He was asking for money to provide evidence, so all this seems more like scam to me. This is the same whistleblower who accused Woro2k of matchfixning. Aleksey ‘Yarabeu’ Kurlov, the man behind this scheme is just a clown trying to get som money. But people are lazy sheep who believes the first story they hear.

We have Hype as well (Nawwk also but yeah he ain't leaving Apeks). +Hype +Hampus/LNZ if Hampus isn't available, +Nilo / Susp. It's actually quite a good roster with a lot of potential. This is a good move for GODSENT rather than a bad one.

Not too familiar with Hype honestly, I know the prospect guys are solid but don't catch many games. Kinda forgot Susp lol I been watching him in Portugal and he's been very good. They should 100% pick this guy up. Also Nilo is super talented, I'd be surprised if Young Ninjas let him go, they should be planning to bring him into the main roster eventually. From the few games I've seen of his I feel like his mechanics could already be close to tier 1 level if he gets the chance and LAN experience

Felt like this team was lowkey getting better and showed some potential but was just dealing with some growing pains, wish they would have just let it play out for another three months at least. Can't say I really care about the Swedish scene specifically but lowkey liked the players on this roster and players I formerly thought were bad or average T2 players like Rusty and Ztr actually showed they have more to give than what they've shown prior to this roster. Think there are some younger players in the Swedish scene that may be better to build around for the future but I think this team could've been quite good.
