SAW secure Master League Portugal title

The Portuguese side capped a strong end to the season with another tournament win.

SAW took down Make Your Destiny 3-0 to win the Master League Portugal XI Finals, emphasizing their status as the best team in Portugal.

The Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes-led side opened the series with a comfortable 16-4 win on Vertigo, before securing the title with back-to-back 16-11 wins on Overpass and Ancient.

story was the fifth-highest rated player in CCT West Europe Series 4

The result caps off what has been a strong end to the season for the current No. 31 team in the world, with victories in ESL Masters Spain and CCT West Europe Series 4 preceding their Master League triumph. The CCT West Europe event was the most impressive victory of the three, with the Portuguese side outplacing the likes of Apeks, 9INE and BIG in the event.

João "story" Vieira and Michel "ewjerkz" Pinto have provided much of the firepower for SAW during their end-of-season run, with both players ending amongst the 10 best-rated for the CCT West Europe Series 4, a 1.24 and 1.22 rating respectively over eight maps.

SAW will have a chance to battle for an ESL Pro League spot when the player break ends, with the NC Europe Qualifier for the tournament taking place July 13-16. The Portuguese squad will compete against the likes of Into the Breach and Bad News Eagles in the online qualifier, which pits the winners of regional competitions against each other for the right to head to the tier one event in Malta.

i get the point you are trying to make, but being realistic, why would they bother fighting for epl through an online event when they were able to qualify through a lan event (esl challenger valencia and melbourne)? and when they didnt won the masters or a challenger they had world rank to go to epl

althought Movistar Riders may be able to perform better at such events its still not realistic to consider them a Bayern type of team, i used ESL Master Spain Lan Finals as an example since its offline(atleast the final itself) and we are able to see a "battleground" where Iberian teams go against eachother to win the local esl championship so its kinda of our league and MR are underperforming there, MR are probally above other teams in Iberia in more notable events but to consider them Bayern of this region is unfair as they constantly fail short domestically to teams that can't make the same waves on the international scene
2023-06-18 23:59
MR have more appearances in tier 1 events, majors, etc than saw, but atm saw is by far the best team in the Iberia. Let's see what happens in the player break, riders will definetely change something, and K xan see them getting pretty competitive with +just

To attract domestic sponsors. If it was just about prizepool and level of competition, SAW wouldn't be playing the Portuguese league either. But if you're a Spanish/Portuguese org, it helps to be able to say that you're the Spanish/Portuguese champion when it comes to attracting local sponsors.
