Liquid sign Patsi; transition to European majority

The move marks the end of Liquid's North American majority.

Liquid announced the signing of Robert "⁠Patsi⁠" Isyanov from Spirit, with the Russian rifler replacing Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski on the active roster.

The news comes shortly after the North American organization signed Aleks "⁠Rainwaker⁠" Petrov, meaning their roster now sports a European majority. This means they will need to qualify for the Major through the European RMR while also taking away a Legends Stage spot from North America.

Patsi completes the Liquid roster

Additionally, EliGE's departure from Liquid signifies the conclusion of an eight-year collaboration that granted him the remarkable distinction of holding the lengthiest tenure within a single organization. EliGE hasn't yet announced his next move, but a recent report by Dust2.us states that Complexity are the front-runners for his signature.

Patsi joins from Spirit, ending a partnership with the Russian organization that spanned over two years. He spent eight months in the academy setup but earned a place on the main team in November 2021, putting up a 1.12 rating in his first full year to garner plenty of attention. His form dropped massively during 2023, however, and he only averaged a 0.99 rating during the first six months of the year.

The Russian rifler will no doubt hope a change of scenery will allow him to return to the highs he showed during 2022, with his transition to Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis' calling a crucial piece of the puzzle.

"I'm really excited to play with this team and be part of an org that has so much history and achievements," began Patsi in his statement. "I know I'm new to the team and taking the place of such a strong player, but I'll do my best to prove to you that I deserve to be here."

Switch to EU meaning moving from Miami to EU, I could only hope for. Furia got themselves a mansion in Malta, so they have the structure to stay in EU for longer periods of the season. They are planning on having a base in Europe (as many other SA/NA teams are too according to the roumors), but I thought it was more of a training facility that you spend a couple weeks working, but then return to Brazil to your actual house. If Furia (and other BR teams too) do a full relocation to EU, we'll see ATK or Party Astronauts or smaller NA T2 teams in the next major and a lot of bigger/better names outside of it.

I remember EG at one point was considering going EU majority and a loophole was discovered. “ With the official Major rules saying a team can choose which region to play in if their lineup is split evenly between two regions, EG would have been able to use the European core and still play in the North American RMR by submitting a North American substitute, which would create a 3-3 split between EU and NA. Yeki/daps LIKELY realized that this team hasn't won a major in the past 7 years (their star player is a rifler, who has struggled to find relevance post-krieg era, and the team's success is dependent on his ability to click heads) for a reason. They've funneled through and handicapped NA's talent pool to try and save their elige-central roster for around 5 years at this point. You're in denial trying to say otherwise.
