Official: Evil Geniuses promote four EG Black players

Evil Geniuses have officially added Jadan "⁠HexT⁠" Postma, Colby "⁠Walco⁠" Walsh, Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson, and Jeorge "⁠Jeorge⁠" Endicott to their starting lineup, with Tommy "⁠Axed⁠" Ryan acting as the team's coach and William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba coming in as a substitute.

The five former EG Black members now join autimatic on the organization's new main roster, while Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte, Jerric "⁠wiz⁠" Jiang, Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali, and Sanzhar "⁠neaLaN⁠" Iskhakov have all been allowed to explore other opportunities.

EG promoted four EG Black players to finalize their off-season overhaul

Evil Geniuses initially targeted a number of international players during their rebuild phase, engaging in discussions with the likes of Aleksandr "⁠zorte⁠" Zagodyrenko, Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug, and Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov.

These talks died out at the eleventh hour, however, with Evil Geniuses instead promoting their academy roster — a move consistent with a June 22 report by Dust2.us — as they look ahead to the fall season and the release of Counter-Strike 2 later in the summer.

This new-look Evil Geniuses roster notably lack experience at the tier-one level. The quintet have only played at two LAN events during their time with the organization, with ESL Challenger Melbourne in April, where they finished in joint-last place, being their only international LAN.

Given Evil Geniuses' status as a partner team with BLAST and ESL, the newly-promoted side will now be the ones receiving invites to the tournament organizers' competitions. These include the BLAST Premier Spring Groups in July and ESL Pro League Season 18 in August-October, events which will inevitably be a big step up compared to their usual appearances in mostly domestic outings within North America.

The American-Canadian outfit have just under three weeks to prepare for their debut as Evil Geniuses' main roster, with autimatic and company set to participate at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups in Denmark on July 13-23.

Different goals for the projects man, cant really compare. Colossus was a "super" team shitshow while Blueprint was more of a attempt to help the NA scene grow. The execution was a bit iffy, but in the end it worked out. So technically speaking, the Colossus is the objectively worse project. -🤓

The Colossus was mildly entertaining because I'd say most people did not expect it to succeed at all, but it was action packed. The Blueprint project didn't really help the NA scene grow, and I say that because EG had 3 rosters at one point, and kept cycling players instead of committing to 1 team of 5 players and actually making an effort to set the team on the right track. Then, to top it all off, they hired bad coaches, analysts, and imported "pros" that were no better than Tier 2 NA players.

colossus was supposed to be a superteam and failed horribly, losing c9 millions, tarnishing henryg's reputation and stinting the career of everyone involved blueprint helped filter out who in na had potential and who was washed/not ready. ultimately blueprint was better for the scene than colossus, and with eg's current roster, they could very well be more than just the 0-3 team

I mean they would have to come to NA like NA has to goto EU for all that stuff. I just don’t think wiz and refrezh were given a fair shot. Refrezh only been on the team a little over 2 months. And brehze is still a better player and rifler than anyone on that team besides Autimatic. Even if he plays to half of how he played in 2018-2020. He’s still a beast. It’s just a shame because I think motivation especially with the year they had can be a factor but he does play a lot from what I can tell.
