PGL reveal schedule for CS2 Major RMR qualifiers

The first set of open qualifiers will start in early January.

PGL has announced the schedule for the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen RMR qualifiers, which will take place in January 2024 with open qualifiers giving way to closed qualifiers in eight different regions. The closed qualifiers will then feed into the three RMRs in Europe, America and Asia.

PGL last hosted a Major in 2022 at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp

The upcoming Major in Copenhagen will be the first Major in the latest iteration of Counter-Strike, CS2. The game is scheduled for a summer of 2023 release, although there is no specific information regarding a concrete release date so far. The scheduling of these qualifiers would, however, suggest the game will be released well before 2024 so that teams have time to practice in the new version ahead of the qualifying process.

The qualifiers being scheduled so early in January means it is also likely that teams will have to practice through the traditional winter player break in order to be fully prepared for the grueling gauntlets.

The schedule for the qualifiers is as follows:

Europe

Open qualifier 1 - January 8-9
Open qualifier 2 - January 10-11
Open qualifier 3 - January 12-13
Open qualifier 4 - January 14-15

No need for a qualifier or a major, just give the trophy to FURIA already.

Exactly! It is best for FURIA to add the major trophy to the others.

Imo that's too early to announce that kind of event. If only we had a schedule for CS2 developpement and a real competitive period to make the game as perfect as it can, then the first major would be interessting but rn I don't think that will work as expected

according to the United Nations Statistics Division, east asia is comprised of china(has its own qualifier) macau, taiwan, hong kong, japan, korea, mongolia so rest of asia should be outside of that region

VP won Rio and then failed to qualify for Paris so presumably yes. Being a new game as well I'd be even more surprised if they gave free invites.
