The Danish rifler is set to rejoin the German organization less than a year after departing for Copenhagen Flames.

Rasmus "⁠raalz⁠" Steensborg is very close to signing with Sprout, according to a report from Dust2.dk. The Dane would reunite with former teammates Rasmus "⁠Zyphon⁠" Nordfoss and Danny "⁠BERRY⁠" Krüger should the move occur, with whom he played whilst on Sprout in 2022.

Sprout are in need of reinforcements ahead of the new season, with their active lineup currently sporting only Zyphon and Daniil "⁠alpha⁠" Demin following the departure of several of their players in the current off-season.

raalz seems set for a second stint in Sprout

It has been an underwhelming 2023 for Sprout thus far, with the German organization forced into changes early in the year after Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali stepped down from the active roster.

Sprout opted for a relatively high-profile replacement for refrezh, bringing in Australian Aaron "⁠AZR⁠" Ward after a period of time out of the top-tier scene for the in-game leader, but it was a move that flopped badly. The squad lost the vast majority of matches they played with AZR at the helm and slid outside the top 50 of the world rankings.

After AZR parted ways with the team 18-year-old Russian alpha was brought onboard and results took an immediate turn for the better, with Sprout’s second-place finish in CCT North Europe Series 5 a highlight of his short stint thus far.

raalz is already familiar with the team he is reportedly close to joining, having played for Sprout for a year from 2021 to 2022. The team dominated the German regional scene during that time, competed in the PGL Major Antwerp Europe RMR, and cemented themselves as one of the best tier two sides in Europe, peaking at No. 19 in the world rankings.

After his time in Sprout raalz linked up with the ill-fated Copenhagen Flames roster, with the team disbanding not long after their organization dropped them amidst filing for bankruptcy.

Agree - hope he finds a team where he doesn't have to be support, just look at when he was standing in for Faze, when rain was out. He's such a good player, just got stuck in a "support role". Hope 00nation picks him up as "starplayer"

Already 3/3 guys that don't perform over 1.0 K/D. While K/D is far from everything, someone needs to perform above 1. This Sprout iteration will already be Tier 2 at best, regardless of their 4th and 5th.
