Former Spirit AWPer Ihor "⁠w0nderful⁠" Zhdanov headlines three new additions to the Sprout lineup.

Sprout's new roster mostly boasts young talent

Sprout has completed its new CS:GO roster with the unveiling of three new signings: w0nderful, Rasmus "⁠raalz⁠" Steensborg, and Olle "⁠spooke⁠" Grundström. The organization also announced that it will field an academy lineup.

The incoming trio replaces Victor "⁠Staehr⁠" Staehr, Laurențiu "⁠lauNX⁠" Țârlea, and Adrian "⁠XELLOW⁠" Guță on the team. The former two found new homes in Astralis and Falcons while the AWPer was let go during the summer tournament break.

w0nderful comes as the biggest signing of the trio following a transfer from Spirit. The Ukrainian AWPer was benched in a rebuild of the Russian squad despite being their best performer, averaging a 1.13 rating over his year-long stint there.

The most senior and experienced player of the new roster, raalz, rejoins Sprout for a second stint with the organization. While in his previous in 2021-2022 he acted as the in-game leader, this time he will leave captaincy to 18-year-old Daniil "⁠alpha⁠" Demin, who had signed with the team in May and looks to prove himself in his first time leading a top side.

"Against the expectations, raalz will not return as IGL," a press release said. "Instead we have young gun alpha, who was brought on board in May of this year after Sprout parted ways with Aaron "AZR" Ward. Despite his tender age, [alpha] has shown to be a versatile player with a keen eye for strategy, making the right calls and approaching his role with great confidence."

The final piece of the new lineup, spooke, is a former member of PROSPECTS, the now-defunct academy squad of 00NATION. The 21-year-old Swede mainly competed on the lower-tier scene with the junior side and has averaged a 1.09 rating over a whopping 376 maps played in just a year and a half.

27 years is young but it’s old in the competitive cs scene. Not saying there aren’t exceptions but there is little to no good professional player above the age of 30. Check average player age of our current top 10. it’s 23/24 with the exception of faze and ENCE (26) and this number gets boosted by their 33yo IGLs. Not bashing on raalz as I think he’s a smart player, he’s just no prospect anymore and his firepower is already lacking. He‘s been around, I think using him as igl would’ve been the better choice The whole roster looks alright though

Hype (the player) is more or less confirmed, after that me myself is hoping for Susp since he is a highly rated prodigy right now, then i'm lost. From an insider one player in the lineup is gonna "shock" us so might either be a veteran like f0rest or a big prodigy signing like Nilo but I really got no clue. The questions are: -Alpha: how developed is he and can sprout function under him -Wonderful: can he maintain his level in an international team -raalz: Is he solid enough and why not IGL -spooke: what´s his ceiling potential-wise and can he reach it I think this squad will do fine. They´re quite young and have one the best talent coaches, BERRY, so it´s for sure a long-term project but I think the top 20/30 will be a realistic goal for them by the start of 2024 (conservative prediction they will most likely establish themselves sooner)

when the only concrete proof is discord chat logs and the source is Overdrive it´s far from guaranteed.
