Media: NEO returns to FaZe as coach for IEM Cologne

Filip "NEO" Kubski will stand behind the team at the $1,000,000 event.

NEO is on FaZe's roster for IEM Cologne

FaZe have registered NEO as their coach for IEM Cologne, according to a report by Dust2.us. The news comes after Robert "RobbaN" Dahlström surprisingly announced his decision to quit coaching on Thursday, ending his seven-year tenure in the organization and leaving FaZe without a coach just before they began their season.

karrigan: "He's a different kind of guy, nobody can replace RobbaN"

NEO is no stranger to the organization, having stood in for the team during 2019 as IGL after Finn "karrigan" Andersen was removed. FaZe came close to winning a trophy at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles 2019 under the Pole's leadership but ultimately came short, ending NEO's stint in the team just five months after he joined. Marcelo "coldzera" David was signed to take over calling for a short while before karrigan returned to the roster in early 2021.

NEO became deeply involved in the Polish esports scene after parting ways with FaZe, notably creating his own organization HONORIS alongside his long-standing teammate Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas. The team ceased operations in March due to a lack of sufficient financial resources, and NEO is now free to stand behind FaZe at IEM Cologne.

The legendary Pole, who amassed a plethora of titles during his tenure with Virtus.pro, notably conquering the EMS One Katowice 2014 Major, is scheduled to join the team in time for IEM Cologne. It is currently unknown whether this is a temporary spot for NEO or if his involvement will turn into a full-time role.

FaZe have been assigned to Group B for the German event, where they will be competing against Natus Vincere, G2, and Vitality. Additionally, four Play-In teams are scheduled to join them in the group stage.

They had only 1 tournament win in last 2 seasons? it has been over a year since they won the major and couple tournament wins. They literally lost to fucking shit ENCE,Vitality,Heroic 3 times in a row this season ,how can you be happy with this??? Dont you want them to win more????

You call Heroic, Vitality and Ence (top1, 2 & 5 teams) "shit"? If your definition of consistency is losing to top world teams a few times, sure.

I only called ENCE shit, because they are shit and overrated. Anyway it seems like you are pretty fine with them only being top 3.I am not gonna judge you about that. But I want them to win more and you cant win trophies while losing to top teams consistently.

I also want them to win more but it's about internal issues they have been fixing during player break, not about Neo.

Thats true, they also sacrificed their entire season to win grand slam(they worked really hard to win EPL which is understandable) and then they had a shaky major event where they played even more matches, which probably made them really tired for the last 2 tournaments of the season. But now they have no excuses, they should challenge for trophies and thats what I expect from them.

2023-07-15 17:58
You have to understand that none of the Teams that you've named are shit. Never underestimate any Tear 1 team. What FaZe need is to regain their hunger to win. In the past seasons they looked "bored" in some sense. Some change in Staff could be that igniting spark.
2023-07-17 09:54
from major champion to 0-3 ?

I mean everyone knows Rio was flop, but they were decent in Paris all things considered they had the hardest seeding and being just 2 rounds away from beating Heroic 2-0 in quarters for upcoming semis vs GL? Faze could have been easily in final vs Vitality. Sure Faze are not in ideal shape as they used to be year ago, but question is, is it even realistic to be that dominant for so long in current stacked scene?

The guy has huge knowledge about the game, so it'll be interesting to spectate his new challenge. Time will tell how he will do as a coach. Good luck anyways!
