— Group D final standings:
1. G2, 2. Complexity, 3. Virtus.pro, 4. Eternal Fire advance to playoffs
5. Liquid, 6-7. Cloud9 & Lynn Vision, 8. 9INE are eliminated
Eternal Fire's journey in ESL Pro League will continue, the Turks beating 9INE, Cloud9 and now Liquid in 2-0 fashion."
For Liquid it was a tale familiar to the likes of MIBR a few weeks ago, running out of energy in their second best of three of the day. Vertigo started well for the international side, but even both pistols could not help them to a map win given the electric form of Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın and Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş.
Mirage exposed Liquid further, Eternal Fire racing to a 11-4 lead as Liquid struggled to get going. But take nothing away from Eternal Fire, who have qualified for their first Big Event playoffs as an organization with aplomb.

Liquid were up 11-7, winning both pistols, but once we were into the gun rounds they could not withstand Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın on the A ramp. The young Turk hit 30 kills in round 25, and had five multi-kills in seven rounds — all in gun rounds — to wrench momentum out of Liquid's hands before the 16-12 win was confirmed.
Liquid's energy was a talking point before the match as they embark on their second series of the day, and now they will have to dig even deeper into their already depleted reserves: They need to win both Mirage and Anubis to qualify for playoffs.
It's time for the 64th best of three of ESL Pro League XVIII, the last game before the playoffs begin on Tuesday.
Map one is Vertigo, a map Eternal Fire have beaten 9INE and Cloud9 on this event and one Liquid used to ban quite oftenearly on in the lineup's history. Are we heading for a 1-0 lead for the Turks?

There is one more playoff spot on offer at ESL Pro League, and it will go to the victor of Liquid versus Eternal Fire.
It's Liquid's second game today after beating Lynn Vision this morning and their preparation is naturally affected. "We managed it as best we could, but it's not ideal," Damian "daps" Steele told the broadcast. "EF can sleep later, and balance their day better."
The other teams to play two BO3s in one day this event have been FURIA and 9z, who won both, and MIBR — who looked like shelves of themselves against Monte. Liquid will hope they can match the result of the first two against a dangerous opponent in Eternal Fire.

Complexity 4-16
G2
A completely different G2 turned up on Ancient, the quiet performances of the first two maps were completely forgotten as the European squad blew Complexity off the server.
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov produced some impressive highlights in the first half, but Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač were also fragging hard when called upon.
Complexity just seemed to have completely lost their heads after giving up Inferno, they seemed incredibly frustrated on the player cams throughout the end of that map, and it spilled over into Ancient.
Complexity 16-19
G2
It was not pretty, and they had to fend off a number of series points, but G2 have managed to win Inferno and force a decider.
G2 started both halves poorly and still suffered from quiet performances from their individuals for much of the map, but Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov produced enough output towards the end of the map to get their team over the line.
Ancient is up next, can Complexity reset after being so close to a 2-0 victory, or will G2 seal the deal?
Nikola "NiKo" Kovač was self-deprecating about his form in G2's first outings at EPL, but he looked back on top of his game on Anubis with a 25-16 K-D.
There was just one problem: G2 lost 16-8.
The Group D Cinderella, Complexity, not only made it to the playoffs through the upper bracket, but is now one map away from winning the group after a one-sided affair on Anubis against G2 which ended 16-8.
The North Americans won their pick convincingly despite starting with a 3-7 deficit on the defense by turning the first half around and then steamrolling their opponents on the easier attacking side to wrap up a 15-2 partial score in the last 17 rounds of the map.
G2 will have a chance to tie things up on their Inferno map pick, which is up next. If needed, Ancient will be the decider.
It's almost time for the penultimate group stage game of ESL Pro League Season 18, with just 30 minutes to go before G2 and Complexity take to the server.
It's important to remember, however, that this fixture is purely for seeding purposes. Both teams have already secured a playoff spot, though the winner will earn a bye straight to the quarter-finals.

Complexity have impressed during their time in Malta with wins over 9INE (2-0) and Cloud9 (2-0), reinforcing Michael "Grim" Wince's belief that they're playing their best Counter-Strike since the team's inception, but they're now set for their biggest test yet in the form of G2.

The IEM Cologne champions are Group D's highest-rated side, and also the third-best team in the world, and as such will not be pushovers, even if Nikola "NiKo" Kovač may be having a quiet tournament by his standards (1.04 rating over five maps).
How do you think this best-of-three will pan out? Can Complexity pull off another upset, or are G2 simply too strong?
Liquid 16-13
Lynn Vision
It feels like yet another case of déjà vu. Lynn Vision had Ancient in the palm of their hand, sitting on a 10-5 lead by the end of their CT-side, but they still couldn't convert their advantage and force the Inferno decider.
It's similar to Anubis, where the Chinese had a 9-6 and 15-13 lead at points, only to drop the map in overtime.

Liquid, who were powered to victory on Ancient by Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis's 26 frags, now move to the fourth-place decider in Group D. They'll play Eternal Fire at 19:30 for a chance to clinch the sole playoff spot left up for the taking.
