Eternal Fire overcome Liquid to claim last EPL playoff berth

Liquid struggled to show their best self in their second series of the day.

Wicadia’s 30-bomb on Vertigo turned the match in the Turks’ favour

Eternal Fire have eliminated Liquid from ESL Pro League after a 16-12 win on Vertigo and 16-6 on Mirage to secure the series 2-0. It caps an impressive group for Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli’s men with three victories over top 20 sides.

Liquid defeated Lynn Vision earlier today, and were hoping to evade the exhaustion that can plague teams that have to play two matches in one day. "It's a hard day, waking up at 10am and playing the late match," said Damian "daps" Steele pre-game. "We managed it as best we could, but it’s not ideal. Eternal Fire can sleep later, and balance their day. We’re not gonna use it as an excuse but we wish it wasn’t the case."

It started well for Liquid on Vertigo, where they won the first pistol and reached a 5-1 lead after a smart 1v4 in the post-plant from Josh "oSee" Ohm. Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş' multi-kills on the A ramp threatened to turn the tide, and turn it did. Eternal Fire’s talisman even reached 500 utility damage by round 10, and the half ended 8-7.

The game truly came alive in the first gun round of the second half at 7-11, where Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın began a spree of multi-kill rounds flying up the A ramp. Five multi-kills in eight rounds for the 18-year-old helped him to a 30-bomb and Eternal Fire to a 16-12 victory, Liquid managing only one gun round win on their CT side.

Mirage was next, and Liquid had a solid start again. The score was 4-4, with Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis already poking holes in the Eternal Fire defense to flank the B bomb-site. Then, exhaustion kicked in. Liquid's energy sapped, and they could not win another T round to end the half 4-11 down.

Defaults failed time and time again as Eternal Fire made their extra preparation time count, even brandishing a double AWP setup to lock down Liquid’s B pops. Hopes of any comeback were snuffed out rather quickly in the second half despite Liquid winning the pistol as they failed to make any dents in the gun rounds afterward.

Five rounds in a row for Eternal Fire confirmed a 16-6 victory and the last playoff berth at ESL Pro League. It seals another disappointing outing for Liquid's new international side, who could not qualify for BLAST Fall Final or the main event of IEM Cologne and will now miss EPL playoffs as well.

On the other side of the server, MAJ3R reflected on the "chance to be a top team in Europe as a Turkish team, as the only Turkish team left," and Eternal Fire will have a chance to cement that status in the playoffs next week.

i never really niked osee, but it is sad to see naf losing so much. however, they are only 2/5ths of the team so its still fun to watch this dumpster fire burn overall

I feel bad for NAF and oSee, I do, but I want Liquid to lose just to prove how much of a mistake kneeling to their new god Snekindar and stroking his ego really was. This is another ENCE Dictator Allu situation, and they need to lose to kick him down a notch or ten just like what happened to Allu. All I hope for now is for someone to save oSee and NAF from this miserable fate, but tbh, I'm a bit surprised Snekindar hasn't convinced his loyal servants in the Liquid camp that they need to go for a couple EU players already.

NAF and oSee to stanislaw's Forsaken and the NA scene is saved
2023-09-25 00:17
Daps said in one of interviews that they were testing some NA players but that wasnt it. Also daps was the one who brought rainwaker, you can blame yekindar for bringing patsi only. Unlike allu, yekindar didnt kick anyone. Yekindar can igl, but what he can do when his anchor rainwaker shits his pants on vertigo and patsi who is supposed to be one of stars cant kill anyone on t side. The fact that osee keeps missing easy shots doesnt help either, it's out of yeki's control.

Yeah I think that people overhate this roster move because they dont see the vision people like daps and yeki have. i mean daps literally brought up 2 NA teams from the ground up and made them each win T1 trophies (OG, EG) (ofc he was benched before that but he still made 80% of the team)

Kinda nice for ef but the question is can they keep this up in playoffs
2023-09-24 22:33
expected, these five decoys were never going to make it anyways. Also, I take back everything I said about Eternal Fire going 0-3 a few days back, I'm truly sorry for ever saying that And Wicadia's cracked as shit btw
2023-09-24 22:39
Pain :( Liquid will comeback stronger no doubts. Big W for Turkish cs. In 16th season they couldnt advance because c9 lost against liquid afaik, in season 17 they lost a lot of easy rounds against fnatic on nuke decider, 1v2 versus krimz was painful. Third time is a charm. Good luck further

congratz to Eternal Fire ; Wicadia is piece they were missing EF showed to us how much partnership invite system destroyed CS last 5-6 years. We were forced to watch garbage instead of good & promising. CS 1,6 ; CS:S were succesfull project in terms of everything CS:GO was untill 2016-17, but nowadays its nothing but bussiness among 10-15 teams. I hope Valve will fix their mistakes with CS2, time will show.

What an oxymoron "We managed it as best we could, but it’s not ideal. Eternal Fire can sleep later, and balance their day. We’re not gonna use it as an excuse but we wish it wasn’t the case." Putting up an excuse and then claiming not to have done it

Well Earned by Eternal Fire They beat 9nine 2-0 on their merchant map vertigo They beat Cloud9 2-0 on their two best maps as a rematch They beat Liquid quite convincingly 2-0 to make it out of the hardest group into playoffs. All while facing Elimination Good job MAJ3R , great preparation and Wikadia is in another level like Xantares. gl in playoffs

gg EF! it was a big pleasure to watch c9 and liquid matches. i'm very satisfied with these results and qualify to playoffs is decent result for us. there is a historical coincidence about today's match against team liquid. ef beat liquid with the same score in the same tournament on this date in 2022. (same teams, same score, same date, same tournament)

well deserved for EF after stomp at the beginning of the tournament.
2023-09-25 16:49
this was a win-win-win for everybody 1-ef really needed this. they were start to question this project and need a victory to still believe in this project. 2-turkish cs:go fans needed some hype from their local team to watch not only ef matches but also other tier1 cs:go events. lets be honest, these days tier1 scene is not that fun to watch if you are not supporting one of them. 3- toxic kebap haters are happy. ef will be around for at least 1-2 years more. so they can taunt and bash ef(and turks) when they are in a bad mood to relax themselves.
