The Brazilian team is making a change after a poor showing at ESL Pro League.

JOTA distraught after losing the deciding game at the IEM Cologne Play-in

Imperial has announced that rifler Jhonatan "⁠JOTA⁠" Willian has been removed from the starting lineup. The change comes after the Brazilian side failed to make it through the IEM Cologne Play-in and the ESL Pro League group stage.

JOTA has been in Imperial's books since the beginning of the year, when he transfered from MIBR, and has averaged a 1.12 rating so far in 2023, although he dropped down to 1.06 at his last two events after the summer break.

Imperial is currently in a phase of self-discovery after losing captain Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo, who moved to FURIA during the estival transfer window, and showed certain promise at the IEM Cologne Play-in. Most notably, they took Ninjas in Pyjamas to the brink in a close three-map deciding series.

In the end, however, their recent ESL Pro League group stage elimination, which included three losses to fnatic, Apeks and 5yclone and a single victory over 9z, ended in a roster change.

A substitute has been found for the Americas' BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, Lucas "⁠LUCAS1⁠" Teles, who will reunite with his twin brother, Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles, for the one-off event.

The Showdown will also be the 28-year-old's first official match in over a year. Imperial will open their run through the single-elimination bracket on October 4 against TheMongolz.

bruh fallen has been out since 1.6 when he was absolute nuts. Then until 2018 he was top 3 awper every fucking year all while bein IGL. #2 in 2018... I mean, I'm not the biggest Fallen fanboy tbh, I even think him moving to FURIA was a bad decision by them, but to disrespect the guy who made the whole scene like that. Man, im talking atm. You talked against c9 1 year ago. Fallen is washed in terms of mechanical skills. You cannot deny it. Spoiler alert : Kenny's and shox are bad too. I do like them, but I'm talking about modern cs. It is not a viable plan for furia to have a washed player with the awp.

I agree that Fallen has downgraded a LOT from his prime at LG/SK days, but saying he is "washed in terms of mechanical skills" is completely lunatic. The thing is he's not being setup and going for full carries nowadays, instead check stats on enemies blind and support plays at ESL Pro League and Fallen will be among the top, and that is why he does not have insane ratings anymore, he leaned towards a ultra support role, fading away from his shotgun awping back in the days. But EVERY Furia game you will see Fallen making at least ONE insane awping play that blowns your mind.

he is not support awp role, man. He is playing awp in advanced position in overpass for ex. The narrative about supportive awper is getting ridiculous. He is throwing flash and stuff like that. Sure, he is not degster, but any good awper throw flashes for his teammates. He is still not impactful as an awper. 1 for 1 is not good thing for an awper. The lore is that Hen1 and Lucas1 are twins who used to play together on every team in the beginning of their careers. They then landed in Immortals where they went and almost won the major (got second only losing out to Gambit). They then dissolved because of KNG being the most toxic human to ever play lol. After that Lucas played but never did well except for his time in MIBR where he had an average of 1.04 rating. He legit averaged a .96 on every other team after. He was an entry fragger so he did die alot and got refragged, but his stats were so bad. After a while he stopped playing with his brother because his brother got offered to play with Furia and was playing like the best awper in the online era of cs. But then Hen1 wanted to play with his brother Lucas1 again so he went and dropped out of Furia and started for Oplano (They honestly looked pretty good and interesting at the time, reached 24 on ranking list) but then they fell off a cliff and KNG still is running oplano into the ground and making them garbage and trying to farm tier 4 brazil. So that leaves Hen1 and Lucas who then went to 00Nation with the original Oplano and played like garbage there. Then they made a team called ELES which only played like 4 games in a qualifier and they didnt do shit. Heni then went to MIBR and played great then to Imperial where he is probably their best player at the moment in Imperial. Lucas1 did not play at all at this time and has probably just been scrimming. So there is no real chance he averages over a 1.0 rating in the tournament. That was alot, but I hope it helps

I don't know if it's...lore but let's see. When Furia was formed it looked like one of the most promising Brazilian teams, with Heni on the sniper. But, after some promising results, he chose to switch teams (I don't remember and I am too lazy to check, I think it was mibr) in order to play with his brother on the same team. The result was that Furia took junior which...didn't work well and Heni and his brother's team was also rather terrible. This happened again with these two brothers wanting to play together even though it is perceived that while Heni is a pretty good, one might say top tier game changing AWP player, his brother is...how to put it nicely...not bringing a lot of value into a team. But they do like / want to play together and, after another announcement like this one, they do play, the results drop and this happens again and again. Too long? edit: #62 is way more accurate.

Unfortunately, JOTA couldn't perform well at Imperial, even when the entire team was playing at their best. The pressure is different when competing at the tier 1 level. Previously, the issue was playing alongside Chelo. Now, there was that unnecessary rush, but perhaps he already knew about his future, which is why the play seemed so random. I wish him the best. Also Imperial will have some BIG BIG challenges

Just like, why? JOTA was good, he wasn't in the best of form but still added a lot of firepower to the team, I agree, they should be looking for a good support player, maybe a new IGL to free up VINI also because I don't feel like he is great at this role, and LUCAS1 might be fine to do that, but honestly, this roster now, it doesn't really feel like the firepower is there. I'm really dissapointed that Imperial made this move, I think they should've stuck onto this roster, I don't think there was a right player to remove, I think everyone in this team really kinda made their job, and I don't like it to be completely honest.
