Imperial bench JOTA; LUCAS1 to stand in at BLAST Showdown
The Brazilian team is making a change after a poor showing at ESL Pro League.

Imperial has announced that rifler Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian has been removed from the starting lineup. The change comes after the Brazilian side failed to make it through the IEM Cologne Play-in and the ESL Pro League group stage.
JOTA has been in Imperial's books since the beginning of the year, when he transfered from MIBR, and has averaged a 1.12 rating so far in 2023, although he dropped down to 1.06 at his last two events after the summer break.
Imperial is currently in a phase of self-discovery after losing captain Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, who moved to FURIA during the estival transfer window, and showed certain promise at the IEM Cologne Play-in. Most notably, they took Ninjas in Pyjamas to the brink in a close three-map deciding series.

In the end, however, their recent ESL Pro League group stage elimination, which included three losses to fnatic, Apeks and 5yclone and a single victory over 9z, ended in a roster change.
A substitute has been found for the Americas' BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, who will reunite with his twin brother, Henrique "HEN1" Teles, for the one-off event.
The Showdown will also be the 28-year-old's first official match in over a year. Imperial will open their run through the single-elimination bracket on October 4 against TheMongolz.
