Four teams left at Arbalet Cup Dallas

Four teams left at Arbalet Cup Dallas as the quarter-finals have reached the end.

The quarter-finals at Arbalet Cup Dallas have now found their way to the very end. Evil Geniuses and mousesports both won 2-0 in two very easy matches for them, defeating BURNING! and Underestimated respectively.

The all Swedish matchup saw H2k Gaming down SK Gaming. SK Gaming won first map de_inferno very easily 16-2, but next two matches turned out to be very intense. H2k Gaming first equalized the overall score by winning 16-14 on de_train and then in another just as close match, won 16-14 on de_nuke and booked their ticket for semi-final.

The most exciting quarter-final consisted of Natus Vincere and mTw. The matchup itself even beforehand seemed like one that would fit well in the Grand Final, and it surely proved to be so. Starting on de_dust2, both teams played a 9-6 Terrorists side with many close rounds, which meant overtime was needed. Natus Vincere locked it down with 2-1 on both sides to win 19-17.

Moving on to second map de_tuscan, mTw started by taking 11-4 as Terrorists and for a long time looked as they would win the map. But then Sergey "starix" Ischuk decided this was it and stopped the Danes over and over in the second half as the ESWC champions took the lead. At the score 15-13 in favor of the Ukrainians, Martin "trace" Heldt saved his team after winning a very close round when he was left in a 1vs2 situation. After that in the 30th round of the match, mTw were only armed with what they could afford, but again thanks to Martin "trace" Heldt's steady hands, managed to force overtime after another 1vs1 situation.

First overtime saw both teams winning 3-0 as Terrorists, which led to another overtime. In the second overtime Na´Vi took the lead 2-1 as CT, and then followed up with 2 crucial rounds as Terrorists as they found a hole in mTw's risky defenses to win 22-19 and 2-0 overall in what was surely one of the most interesting matches this year.

starix voted man of the match

The matchups for the semi-finals, which are scheduled to start at 18:00CET are as follows:

BURNING, mTw, SK Gaming and Underestimated are also not quite done in the tournament as the four teams will be drawn into two matchups, which will also take place at 18:00CET. The matchups will be best-of-one map and will determine 5-6 and 7-8 place and the winners will take home $3,500 while the 7-8th finishers will have to settle for $2,000.

Partially expected.

SK has a new roster and with tough teams going in you knew and upset was coming to somebody. h2k is a strong team and EG and mouse can beat anyone if they play strong

2010-07-18 11:48
Well, before the tournament nobody would say it will go like that. But when you look at quarter-finals pairs, there was no surprise in the scores imo.
2010-07-18 13:10
mtw expected against na'vi? I don't think so... About sk, yeah, you're right.

No chance for mouz. It's the same situation like FX had at eswc :) They've met some resistance in semi-finals and drop out :( I think that EG can suprise us :) EG 2-1 NaVi IMHO

i'm not kidding, EG is one of my favorite teams, i think they can beat Na'Vi in semi finals.
2010-07-18 09:38
If roman plays his a-game, I see mouz going to the final but I don't think that would be against EG. Na`vi is like fnatic in those BO3, they always manage to step up their game and get the victory.
2010-07-18 09:49

Because BO3 is not random, it really checks which team is better.
2010-07-18 13:20

Starix is dominating since eswc. Really enjoyed his great play lately!
2010-07-18 11:02
Starix was always one of the best players in Ukraine! He's nuts when on fire! And he's the most stable player in Na'Vi team! Yeah, sometimes he is shadowed by amazing Edward or sick Markeloff, but he regulary does his work on the top level! Especially when amazing and sick guys having rest or just a bad day! THat's why Na'Vi is so strong!
2010-07-18 17:45
mtw downs for navi;x
2010-07-18 10:56
Hope for Na'Vi. Na'Vi vs. EG will be nice match

mouz did not face a real enemy, except for the match with EG which they lost, so I think H2K will be one of the finalists

delpan + moddii is a GREAT combo :) delpan, moddii, allen, face, robban - rock it !
2010-07-18 16:49
u speak about sk players like ur better than them.u vs them not going win a single round even if they play with usp's and u with full equipment
2010-07-18 12:12
Both Delpan and moddi r very good players. But its not all in the aim and overall weapon skill, u also have to consider flow amongst the players and flow of every each of them :)
2010-07-18 12:20
Go EG and H2k! EG vs. H2k in the final, c'mon! :P
2010-07-18 12:37

just like in 07 with PGS mTw need to figure out how to beat Na'Vi and they will be no. 1 yet again, unless Fnatic is back to the old form now with Gux, think it will be such an exciting year, 3 teams at least who can always win the tournament...
2010-07-18 15:34
cmon EG <3
2010-07-18 15:36

can anyone say DEJA'VU?? what the hell??? they lost to a french team ...JUST LIKE ESWC 2010 .. and now they go into overtime with mTw JUST LIKE ESWC 2010 ... only this time they won the overtime :D what the hell ? the only thing that was missing was a 16 1 against some swedish team :D
