Lions have successfully claimed top spot in the ASUS Summer 2010 event, following their victory over k23 on two maps.
Starting out on de_dust2, Lions initially gained the best start by scoring five straight rounds. But as Lions had expelled some energy, k23 changed momentum and it was now their turn to cop the rounds, taking the match to a 6-6 tie. However, Lions did not want to give up their potential rounds, and the Swedes posted a 9-6 lead to half-time.
As the teams swapped sides, k23 were not able to counter Lions' Bombsite B rush and had to give up the initial rounds. Lions had all equipped the much-proclaimed Soviet gun, the AK-47, and immediately set out on a round-taking streak, boasting a 15-6 lead.
Now on the last round, Lions once again managed to make their way to Bombsite B, seeing k23 unable to counter-attack. The Swedes had no problem securing access and planting the bomb, followed by taking out each Kazakhstani member and successfully claiming the first map at 16-6.
Moving on to de_train, Lions got off to a great start just like on their previous map, but k23 were following quickly right behind as they once again tied to 6-6. Lions moved on to gain a two-round-lead, followed by k23 nailing the last one to put the first half in to 8-7.
Lions had already proven that they were in control when it came to pistol rounds and the start of the second half proved to be no exception. The Swedes managed to seal the first three, whereas k23 came back and secured two, still leaving Lions in the lead with 11-9.
The Kazakhstanis eventually caught up with Lions, once again putting the two in a tie at 11-11, followed by another three for k23, and one for Lions. The latter now managed to plant the bomb and seal a round, and the match was dangerously close to overtime. This shortly after became reality as Lions navigated the match into 15-15.
As overtime commenced, Lions overpowered the Kazakh team to secure the first round, followed by yet another. Things were not looking good for k23, as Lions claimed the third round as well. The following round was ultimately concluded as k23 were not able to counter Lions' bomb plant, leaving Lions the winners of ASUS Summer 2010 with a score of 19-15.
