Meh hostile is a good player but he brings a lot of drama to the table with his constant trash talking. But they really should not have picked up quas. Why not get someone who is better instead of just getting his boy to play.

exactly my thoughts but at lan that drama helps his team sometimes, and provokes/throws off guard the opponents :) I dont like hostile but I cant deny hes very good at cs

imo, its a good chance. Even if they are not going to damage any top teams, still its a great experience to attending WCG dont you think? Besides, this is their own turf. They are spending much less money to send a team comparing if the tourney is on another continent. So, nothing to lose...

is lurpiss allowed to coach the team/stand behind them? that would be a +, 5 guys who can focus on fragging (tubby is a good fragger) while some1 behind them calls the shots beginning of the round and worries about countering the opponents manouvres
2010-09-10 11:36
7 replies
stratcalling is not the same if you are not actually playing, e.g. lurppis may not even have ingamesound etc.
2010-09-10 13:58
4 replies
yeah ofcourse but at least calling the strats at the beginning of every round for them can help take some pressure of the person acting as igl, they'll have to do midround decisions ofcourse but still, it might give them an edge. I remember last year EG had no problems at all winning the wcg quali with bechtol as stand in for lurpiss and lurpiss coaching them, they trashed everyone with big margins

I believe they have use mehler or patyojon in the past as stand ins as well but usually for esea/cevo matches. I am pretty sure internationally they usually go with tubby.
2010-09-10 18:27
yeah that's what I said, but bechtol = tubbys last name, sorry for making it confusing ;)
2010-09-10 22:49
He can sit there and act like the coach/manager. Basically he could call the strat a the beginning but all in game stuff he is screwed on.
2010-09-10 18:26
1 reply
yeah but on the other hand he could really focus on what the opponent is doing and call the EG strats accordingly, so a big advantage and a big disadvantage, but still I think if the standin is a great fragger with some chemistry with the other 4 it wouldn´t make the team any less good, so I think they will take this qualifier with little problems
