zE- assaulted by Ukrainian police

January 23rd, 2011 17:49

HLTV.org understands that TCM-Gaming member Baljit "zE-" Lal was yesterday assaulted by Ukrainian police outside a club.

The Danish player was asked to show his passport after leaving a club in Kiev and then taken to a police station, located right next to the club, as he did not have the document with him.

The police then asked for money to let Lal go, but upon learning he did not have any with him, they punched the player twice, releasing him about 30 minutes later.

zE- assaulted by Ukrainian policemen

mousesports star Roman "roman" Ausserdorfer was also questioned by the police after leaving the same club, but avoided further trouble as he paid the men.

"Because my passport was at the hotel, I had to pay the police ("money under the table") if I did not want to be placed in a small "prison room" overnight," he said on his Facebook wall.

"They did not accept driver's licence or any other personal documents."

I was only asking because I don't know how it really is in other countries, but thanks for explaining for me! =)
2011-01-23 18:04
hah that made lol
2011-01-23 18:08
in the states they would just beat him then get found not guilty of any charges basically he was a foreigner and they knew they could take advantage of him sucks tho
2011-01-23 18:09
actually something like that wouldn't happen in the states...
2011-01-23 18:25
+1,agree.Most cops iv seen in US are really kind, didnt know ukraine cops are that evil, lol.
2011-01-23 20:42
there are corrupt cops everywhere as for the states. ive had problems with cops in texas (el paso) and boston a friend of mine actually had to call the cops for some reason and they stole from him (cash off of the coffee table)
2011-01-23 21:29
lol,I live in TX,i agree there are corrupt cops everywhere, but it's not a common thing in US.We dont have these problems like zE in east europe. Not that iv known of.I live in dallas.

2011-01-23 21:00
really?i was thinking to travelling to argentin.LOL Chinese cops are really nice to foreigners, but they dont do their job very well, also bad,but at least they dont ask money from tourist.
2011-01-23 20:44
if you have all in order nothing is going to happen to you. cops here for example stop cars and ask for papers, or bikes, if you don't have something like driver licence, well, you will have to give them $50 at least :)
2011-01-23 21:01
That's bullshit, Chinese cops are as corrupt as they are in the rest of developing Asia.
2011-01-24 02:24
at least they dont ask money to foreign tourist. and yes they are,but not only them,it's became socialable like everyone do that (not only cop,but doctor, teacher ,ect). So i dont think that's their fault.Another thing,at least they wont beat tourist like ukrainian police.
2011-01-24 03:19
I was in Beijing in August and some of my friends had some pretty nasty run-ins with the police, cost them about 3000 yuan. However of course there's that Chinese saying: "Come to Shanghai and see how hard-working the Chinese are, come to Beijing and see how corrupt the Chinese are".
2011-01-24 03:23
you are clueless, firegun is right. I'm a foreigner in China for quite a while and I'm not saying that there aren't any corrupt cops here but not even close as many as in southern american and eastern european countries. firegun is somewhat right. the policemen in china are quite lazy which can be frustrating at times but generally they are very kind and have no intention to abuse their rights. btw this applies to pretty much every city in china.
2011-01-24 06:45
Oh I'm sorry - I wasn't aware that south america and eastern europe were in developing Asia. In other words - it's you who's clueless.
2011-01-24 06:54

Denmark xLo
yeah that justifies them hitting him... idiot :)
2011-01-23 18:11
I didn't say that it justifies them hitting him, don't be an idiot (and retard, etc.) and put your thoughts in others posts... Only that i think that he could get even more in trouble and even spending a night in prison for not having a passport.
2011-01-23 20:06
Denmark xLo
i know you didn't say that, however you kinda say that it's somehow his own fault for not bringing his passport and the police can be douches sometimes anyways so he should have thought about that, that's how i read your comment. This incident can NEVER be his fault as it's the Ukranian police fucked up ways that get him beaten up. He doesn't have the money to pay them of, so they beat him instead, and becides are you telling me that he should be grateful that he didn't end up worse than he did? are you fucking kidding me?
2011-01-23 21:02
Then you read well: 1)It was mistake not to have passport in foreign country, because it is not legal to be in other country without it, and police can't know if he is there to play cs tournament or to kill someone. 2)I don't approve police AT ALL!!! If they done what he claims they did they should be legally reported and punished for they'r behaver. 3)AND I can't quite understand all this people flaming on Ukrainian nation. The story allays has 2 sides (not accusing anyone) and how da fu*k we all know what happened exactly?
2011-01-23 22:04
Denmark xLo
im not flaming ukraine, i don't have anything against the country at all, as far as i've been told it's a beutiful country :) but maybe he should have had the passport on him, i still think it's fucked up that corruption is so common that u see this as "just a cop being a douche" that's fucked up :P
2011-01-23 22:54
1)Again: Don't put your thoughts in others posts..., didn't said that YOU are flaming... 2)Yes it's fucked up but i don't see anyone here saying "just a cop being a douche" thats good. 3)Don't accuse police of doing something that you are not sure they did!!! You weren't there you don't know what really happened.
2011-01-23 23:14
"[...] or to kill someone" He probably was going to! He might would've killed You! I surely hope all cops will start out hitting people randomly. That way there would never be any killings. Right? That ofcourse after collecting their pocket money, ensuring they won't go buy any nuclear pocket weapon. I think You should punch yourself twice - I mean you have to start somewhere?
2011-01-24 01:30
OMG FUC*ING HATER READ WHAT I WROTE: 2)I don't approve police AT ALL!!! IF they done what he claims they did they should be legally reported and punished for they'r behaver. Only came to troll here, read for a change retard!
2011-01-24 10:14
I didn't come to troll. I clicked to read the news, scrolled further down to read some comments and suddenly stumbled upon your prior ingestions about zE leaving out some truth, thus that, You assuming people's dismay over corrupt police equals flaming a nation. Stop the troll-alarm. It's a cheap comeback. If You understood the irony you would be able to see that it actually responds directly to your point no. 1 on this case. Ironicly ofcourse.
2011-01-24 17:04
Stop assuming what i said, everything is clear in my posts and i didn't said zE left out some truth i just said that we here cant judge for something that we don't know what happed based on victims story. And you are the one flaming by accusing police of being corrupted without evidence(and many others on this topic). And yes, you are trolling by letting your rage out in posts that don't have truth to back them up, like in #564 where you clearly are mad and just want to write as much rubbish as you can...
2011-01-24 19:14
I'm quite sorry if i seemed raging or mad. As it didn't go to court, you're right in the fact that zE's statements have no legal backup. This said I still find it fair to assume it's true, since zE has no interests in lying on this matter - furthermore compared to the probability of a Ukranian policeman blackmailing some tourist. I know this is a sensible subject, so I'll clear it right now: I have nothing at all against Ukranians nor eastern europeans. This summer I went to Albania, Montenegro and Serbia. In Belgrade we actually met a policeman trying to write us a parking ticket without any fair reason. We kept discussing and he agreed letting us drive on - actually ending up giving directions for the quite chaotic city - the hell, we even shoke hands. And I'm definately going to Serbia and Albania again - Guča was really awesome! It's just a fact that less stable and in some cases poor countries have a higher rate of police corruption. Sad but true. I'll be more careful in future, writing ironic replies. HF
2011-01-24 22:17
Glad we could sort this out, best regards...
2011-01-24 22:19

2011-01-24 22:29
isn't Ukraine part of the European Union ? you do not have to have a passport when travelling from an EU country to another, been there done that.
2011-01-24 03:55
You don't have to have visa but passport is a must! It is your personal ID in foreign countries. Thats not only for EU but for all countries (like Serbia) that are not in the EU but have some kind of agreement whit it.

what a shame hahah, our police sucks :C
2011-01-23 17:58
pathetic by the Ukrainian police.
2011-01-23 17:58
wanted for planting c4
2011-01-23 17:58
Sad but true ...
2011-01-23 17:58
that's sad :(
2011-01-23 18:01
He should come to Serbia to see our law :D hahahha
2011-01-23 17:59
2011-01-23 17:59
Who nowadays (18+) goes outside without passport or any identification card? Especially when you are abroad...
2011-01-23 17:59
Sweden taM
Well, pretty much everyone in a resonably free and open country I would suspect. I never bring my passport with me at all times when abroad. But then again, I haven´t visited as corrupt countrys as for example Ukraine. The suggestion that this is somehow ze´s fault is ridiculous and utterly disrespectul.
2011-01-23 18:09
+1. These things happen when you are living in a free world and happen to be abroad in not so free world.
2011-01-23 18:12
ukraine isnt in the euro union so he was abroad and had to follow different laws he should of had his passport on him when he went out
2011-01-23 18:13
Sweden taM
ze was physically abused by the very people who´s function it is to make people feel and be safe, and you talk about him not following the laws? Are you for real?
2011-01-23 18:27
im not saying that wat the police did was right, im just saying that he should of brought his passport with him to identify himself just because you dont need one when youre moving around the EU doesnt mean that ukrainian laws are the same
2011-01-23 21:27
erm, i don't know ukrainian laws but you do NOT have to have your passport with you in russia, and im pretty sure it's the same in ukraine.
2011-01-24 02:09
police in ukraine can ask you for your passport as id, you dont have to carry the actual passport but a photocopy is required its the same in russia
2011-01-24 04:52
who da fuck brings your passport when you are going out on a club? retard... stop living like animals
2011-01-23 18:54
its a common thing to bring ur passport, bcuz this kind of shit happens.
2011-01-23 19:14
"who da fuck brings your passport when you are going out on a club? retard..." anyone whos traveling abroad
2011-01-23 21:30
Ohh come on dude, when you are abroad, and especially when you're outside of European Union, you have to have your passport with you all the time. Example - it was the same with my turkish friends ind Lithuania. They had to carry on their passport all the time, even when they were on university or clubs. You cannot imagine how big problems it can bring you in countries like Ukraine, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia...
2011-01-24 01:06
Well. Is he first time abroad? He is a kind of tourist in that country and it's not about corruption in countries. When you're abroad in an foreign country you should be ready for different cases and carrying your passport with you in your wallet or pocket isn't such a big deal.
2011-01-23 18:30
Yes he definetely expected 2 punches in the face. Stop writing bullshit and admit that the guys who made the act should be at least fired.
2011-01-23 19:05
Where did I say that I support police in this case? My point is that you should always have your documents with you. If he had his passport, nothing would have happened. So please, before calling my comments bullshit, try to get my point first and then make conclusions.
2011-01-23 19:17
agree man, ur right
2011-01-23 19:46
Why would they ask for his passport in the first place? Did he commit a crime? Pure rasism imo.
2011-01-23 22:08
If I think correct (what is not so sure) Police can check your passport, when they suspect that you are from another country (in this case it was easy - zE was for sure not speaking Ukrainian). I think it's all because of illegal imigrants ;-)
2011-01-24 01:10
First thing they can check is VISA! And VISA is only in your passport!
2011-01-24 11:14
I don't understand why other countries don't kick Ukrainians/Romanians/etc. out and beat them up. I know a lot of Ukrainian immigrants living/studying/working in Portugal, and their problems with the law enforcement is 0, ok ? and they are living here for more than 10 years. and where never physically abused by the police whatsoever. -- PLUS he was on vacations, having fun on a nightclub, ffs. IN EUROPE.
2011-01-24 04:05
he had drivers license.
2011-01-23 18:10
As you see, it's not enough there..
2011-01-23 18:25
nah but that's more than enough in DK, i meen there's almost no difference between passport and drivers license
2011-01-23 18:29
Welcome to Ukraine. Laws and requirements are different everywhere. But I feel sorry for the guy tho :(
2011-01-23 18:33
also in Serbia, still when im abroad I carry my passport even in the club
2011-01-23 19:51
crazy that you have to do that, in DK you barely have to carry anything, at least not in the city i live. And if you have to it's mainly to prove that your 18 and old enough to go on a pub or club.
2011-01-23 21:01
by the law it's actually enough, I guess. but it's not nuff for 3rd world cunts like ukr cops
2011-01-23 23:35
Well, I'm leaving my passport at the hotel too. I'd rather lose 200 worthless money and get slapped on my wrist for not having it with me than lose it and not be able to go back home :)
2011-01-23 19:28
actually its all about their skincolor xD its quit easy to migrate from the Middle East, and ukraine is more like trinsite to europe, and here nobody cares where you will go xD If you dont have European skincolor you might have some problems. Dunno why the hell did they pay them, maybe was afraid ._.
2011-01-23 18:00
and why he was alone? seriously? alone in country where you dont speak their language? btw. Last IEM at Germany some local guys beat and robber one of Ukrainian player. And Nixon was robbed in US. so...
2011-01-23 18:12
There are many stories to tell xD I remember one, I think it was in China, but I am not sure, and fx [mym then] were drinking with fntaic [I think] and Luq came out of the pub and some guys beaten hiss ass, and later the fnatic [or SK, dont remeber] guys helped him.
2011-01-23 18:23
Yeah and i remember that warden got robbed in germany too!
2011-01-23 18:26
maybe but being attacked by the police is much worse than by common bastards
2011-01-23 18:30
absolutely. This situation is just pathetic, but you can get yourself in a trouble EVERYWHERE. and what the difference about daily vidoes about U.S. stupid cops with they assault and random kills innocent people? Ofc its mostly coz they are retards but not corrupted. And as i noticed this situation was surpise only for Skandinavians...
2011-01-23 18:42
well actually I'm french and I must say I'm quite shocked to see that in some countries ppl may have to blackmail the police just to be in peace
2011-01-23 20:06
"and why he was alone? seriously? alone in country where you dont speak their language?" dude, he is just like "a tourist", for example when I'm going to European country or "wanna be European country" (like Ukraine)I just want to walk, see something, take some photos and I think there is no reason why I should speak local language if I know English, it's 21st century.
2011-01-23 23:42
oh cmn! don't be ridiculous. You could get in trouble everywhere. And you are trying picture it like Ukraine is evil place.
2011-01-24 00:15
why didn't you use Estonia as an example of a "wannabe european country"?
2011-01-24 02:16
because we're better than Ukraine anyway :)
2011-01-24 11:14
nixon was not robbed. his camera was stolen from him. very different. an american player was mugged in germany, but he was trying to buy drugs. he put himself in that position. :p
2011-01-24 01:03
rly sad... it is the shame for all ukrainians
2011-01-23 18:01
wtf? :D
2011-01-23 18:01
lol, fucking coruption policemen! dont touch CS 'pro' players ...!
2011-01-23 18:03
Hahha xD They had better attack fnatic xDD
2011-01-23 18:04
pita may be in trouble :P
2011-01-23 18:13
2011-01-23 18:04
OMG ! :S :S #47 +1
2011-01-23 18:05
2011-01-23 18:06
They met some random cops from local corrupted police station and now whole hltv community will treat ukrainian police like motherfuckers. It is some kind of stereotype.
2011-01-23 18:06
Do you think that policestation still have any windows after these news?
2011-01-23 18:33
poor dude, roman smart enough to pay and leave
2011-01-23 18:06
sure :D
2011-01-23 22:15
ACAB !!!
2011-01-23 18:06
Fuckin bastards!
2011-01-23 18:06
2011-01-23 18:07
meanwhile in ukraine
2011-01-23 18:07
Where's the world police USA? They should be there investigating.
2011-01-23 18:07
INTERPOL is already investigating the case, zE- also contected CIA. :D
2011-01-23 18:09
Team America is on its way!
2011-01-23 18:50
jason bourne will handle it. no worries.
2011-01-24 01:05
2011-01-23 18:07
2011-01-23 18:07
wow... If it happen in Spain, you will laugh in the policeman face and he would be fucked up after all if he try to take your moeny -_-
2011-01-23 18:08
He should be thankful that didn't happen in Romania , it would've been worse .
2011-01-23 18:08
are you one of those guys that like to talk bullshit about their country just to make them look "cool"? I`m not saying our police is always well intentioned but i assure you it`s not like in Ukraine.
2011-01-23 18:18
He doesn't want to be cool nor anything, it's true, and everyone knows that. It's not your fault mate... and I don't want you to feel bad. You didn't chose were to live, so it's not your fault and I won't never say someone is lower than me because he lives in "worse" country. It is just crazy, and many people still think that... I feel sorry for them, because the "lower ones" are they.
2011-01-23 18:26
2011-01-23 18:09
police? that's police? :|
2011-01-23 18:09
so standard. In russia, st petersburg I also had to pay police money "under the table" mostly for nothing( I was drunk and I was just carrying a bottle of vodka, not drinking it at that moment). They just like to abuse tourist and take their money. Ukraine is pretty much same as russia so I imagine ukraine having same shitty laws and law enforcement as It is in russia, one of the most corrupted countries.
2011-01-23 18:10
Russia police is worse a little
2011-01-23 21:18
Corrupts messed up with the wrong union. ACAB!
2011-01-23 18:10
Actually the whole problem is about the salary. People with brain don't want to work in police (especially in patrol) due to low salary an high risks, that's why they employ some retards who hardly graduated from school and have no moral etc. Everyone in Russia or Ukraine hates our police for sure, of course if he is not a policeman himself xD
2011-01-23 18:11
i'm just happy for the policemen it wasn't Pasha they grabbed :O
2011-01-23 18:11
hahahha agree!
2011-01-23 18:13
:D, but it would be even better [worse to the policeman] if they grabbed him after mTw loss :D:D:D
2011-01-23 18:13
omg they would be screwed :D
2011-01-23 18:21
Hmm if they took Pasha this news could be about 2 almost dead policemen ;)
2011-01-23 18:31
hahaha. It is a bit sad that markeloff wasn't there to grab their heads from some km away.
2011-01-23 18:33
hahaha, good point mate :D
2011-01-23 19:57
I really wouldn't pay, I would call the embassy, this police is worse than thieves...
2011-01-23 18:11
lol thats not how it goes you either pay or dont pay but you dont call anywhere :D
2011-01-23 18:22
they wouldn't let me call? It's strange, how big difference still we have between some countries that belong to EU.
2011-01-23 18:28
you just dont start mess around with police there it would make things only worse
2011-01-23 19:47
of course they wouldn`t... Welcome to Ukraine :( they can even take away your stuff, like mobile or notebook if you don`t pay...
2011-01-23 22:02
Singapore Nephalith
That's really low. Way to spoil their tourism value.
2011-01-23 18:11
Аhahahah - i recognize you Ukraine! Welcome guys!
2011-01-23 18:12
how much would he of had to pay?

2011-01-23 18:29
F*cking Ukraine-police who cannot do what they are supposed to do.

2011-01-23 18:14

2011-01-23 18:14
Spain vkk
SPAIN also..all the fukin tourist have free way
2011-01-23 18:42
Spanish police are highly corrupted. Haven't heard about anything nearly as bad as this happening over there though:)
2011-01-23 23:56
EDIT: Maybe not highly, but indeed corrupt.
2011-01-24 00:23
go outside your home's sometimes, read\watch news, get a real life - it's usual stuff in so many countries, not in eastern europe only. even in usa things can go the same way, maybe w\o face mashing, but still. don't walk around without your passport, especially when you are in different country and have different skin color
2011-01-23 18:15
Something like that would never happen in the US... illegal immigrants walk around without documentation all day long here and nobody does anything about it.
2011-01-23 18:28
Denmark JtS
Bored police.
2011-01-23 18:16
Estonia Loz
2011-01-23 18:17
omg... anyone remember the Hostile thing? xD
2011-01-23 18:18
funny how not many Ukrainians are talking here
2011-01-23 18:20
There is nothing f-ng funny, man - u don't live here, so enjoy ur calm life abroad/
2011-01-23 18:25
You didn't get it.
2011-01-23 18:28
And what are they supposed to say?
2011-01-23 18:53
Na'Vi!!! Na'Vi!!! Na'Vi!!!
2011-01-23 19:22
ROFL. Here you go. Na'Vi!!! Na'Vi!!! Na'Vi!!!
2011-01-23 19:49
respect :)
2011-01-23 22:01
2011-01-23 21:50
2011-01-24 23:50
2011-01-23 18:21
what kind of a police is that? seriously wtf.
2011-01-23 18:22
ex urss it's normal ..
2011-01-23 18:22
how many times have you been there (in ex ussr countries)?
2011-01-24 01:21
This accident is obviously racism based.
2011-01-23 18:22
2011-01-23 18:24
And roman's?
2011-01-23 20:34
Racism is the belief that the genetic factors which constitute race, ethnicity, or nationality are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that ethnic differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Probably the agents saw that they weren't Ukrainians and took advantage of that.
2011-01-23 21:04
corrupt bastards
2011-01-23 18:23
What else do you expect in a country where CS players make double the average salary of someone with a real job?
2011-01-23 18:23
orly? so what we'll expect from country where 60% of citizens is fat?
2011-01-23 19:18
48% Anyway that's beside to point. Here in the US it's the poorest cities that tend to have the most corrupt law enforcement and that's the point I was making, but you obviously didn't get it.
2011-01-23 19:24
2011-01-23 18:25
f*ck sake...
2011-01-23 18:25
lol, whatever :\. Stupid police !
2011-01-23 18:25
haha and people complained about China? :)
2011-01-23 18:26
2011-01-23 18:26
2011-01-23 18:27
If they identify policemen then our community punch them 1000 times more then they did it to players!!!
2011-01-23 18:27
f#cking shame... so sorry and hate those bastards
2011-01-23 18:27
you dont have to say sorry, it's not your fault
2011-01-23 18:38
Its common to say sorry even if its not your fault. I wont give example since you should realize it yourself. ;)
2011-01-23 19:02
And response for his apologize is also common ;)
2011-01-23 19:22
-_- He doesnt have to apologise because something happened in his country. It's like a finland guy kill someone and you have to say sorry for that becasue you are from that country. And I mean "sorry" like apologise, not the "sorry" like "I am so sorry"
2011-01-24 00:49
say sorry is not the same as feeling sorry
2011-01-25 00:57
You may thank the former USSR of this wonderful state of affairs.
2011-01-23 18:28
THIS IS UKRAINE WHAT ARE YOU WANT????? IDIOT's : they go to ukraine and don't know this things....OMG
2011-01-23 18:29
What do you want* idiots* But thanks.
2011-01-23 19:29
One more country added to my 'dont go there' list :S
2011-01-23 18:29
for this i like brazil... XD
2011-01-23 18:31
Ukrainian police > Brasilian mafia?
2011-01-23 18:36
here is the same thing about corruption, but the people arent racist...
2011-01-23 18:56
are you crazy??? I've heard a LOT worse about brazil
2011-01-25 00:58
Kinda sad... ofc it can happen anywhere in the world, in russia, poland, argentina, brasil or even in the USA, germany or where ever.... but such an incident is more likely to happen in the poorer countries. i hope once there will come a time, where the human beings all over the world does not only care about their own wealth and their own advantage, but see that the whole live is, in a simplified way, not more than football/soccer, counter strike or any other "team game"....its all about teamplay, the human race will only grow if they understand this, despite skin colour, origin, religion, or any other superficial aspect.
2011-01-23 18:32
"they punched the player twice" for what ? :DDDD
2011-01-23 18:33
for not giving them money
2011-01-23 18:34
:o omg :o I think police did that because they knew zE- played at Terrorist last day, and they thought he was a terrorist, possible ;o It's so bad :s
2011-01-23 18:33
That are really bad new because now ESL have to pay them bodyguards except FX they have Pasha.
2011-01-23 18:35
I wonder if it happened with Pasha, i doubt they would even consider on punching him, haha.
2011-01-23 20:40
im actually shocked with this situation, isnt there any kind of law punsihment for police abuse?
2011-01-23 18:38
Ahahaha Simptrix good one
2011-01-23 18:40
I dont want to offend anyone but I have heard if you are not white then you get picked upon alot in Eastern european countries like russia , ukraine etc. I have my friends studying over in Russia and Ukraine , they say there are lot of skinheads who attack brown and black people and the police also treat them badly. If ZE was white maybe then the police wouldn't have assaulted him.
2011-01-23 18:42
What about roman than?
2011-01-23 18:42
He didn't get punched
2011-01-23 18:43
Because he payed the money they requested...
2011-01-23 18:45
You're absolutely right.
2011-01-23 18:44
Yeah, there's a lot of Neo-Nazism going on in those countries - Russia in particular. Kind of ironic, as Hitler saw the Slavic race(for the lack of a better name for it) inferior to the Germanic race.
2011-01-24 00:06
in poland also, which is at least as strange imo as Hitler even invaded the country
2011-01-25 01:01
So sad...I would sue them straight away! EDIT: Oh yes...and if I didn't know Baljit I'd say that maybe he rejected to cooperate or something like that, but he's a very very nice lad and I'm really sad it has happened to him. Hopefully nothing serious.
2011-01-23 18:48
markeloff would have own them.
2011-01-23 18:44
His skinny body would probably have been pulverised by those to punches.
2011-01-24 00:09
hostel 3 starring ROMAN and zE
2011-01-23 18:49
lol fuck the cops
2011-01-23 18:48
i hope that this wont be the end of this case and the "police" will get the consequences !
2011-01-23 18:51
Like that's ever gonna happen:P:P
2011-01-24 00:10

could you please translate it?
2011-01-23 22:26
its pretty racist.. ^^ "corrupt and shit country, sad that it wasnt destroyed" before that he tells something about his meeting with the police.
2011-01-23 22:33
Thanks. Well that's pretty sad but I can partially agree with him
2011-01-23 22:35
well, he deleted his comment now.. he was just in rage

police sucks ! if you travel to our country and see them. please kill them by knife or smthng like this :)
2011-01-23 19:14
corruption... damn that sucks, really sucks.
2011-01-23 19:15
What a corrupt fucked up country. No wonder EU dont want them in their Union, despite Ukraine want to join. They have to improve much. Thank God, I dont live there.
2011-01-23 19:17
yeah , north europe is a heaven
2011-01-23 19:58

2011-01-23 19:21
Russia, Ukraina is the same, POLICE>ALL :DD
2011-01-23 19:21
Really sad. Feel bad for zE- Hope he is alright. He did not have money, it wasn't his fault.I don't understand how beating him up is an alternative for not having money or passport. P.S-Yes maybe he should have carried his passport when leaving his place since its a foreign country. But isn't passport safer at home? :|
2011-01-23 19:22
in some poor places here in my country, we can see some cops that invades your home, kill you and say to the media that you had a extensive criminal record or you were a junkie, or ask you money to let you live in your own home...
2011-01-23 19:23
totaly agree
2011-01-24 01:55
it is sad to see it
2011-01-23 19:25
welcome to the 21st century... fucking gestapo :-!
2011-01-23 19:28
zE should approach to cyberarena staff and explain them the situation: give them all detailes, names of these policemen officers. Furthermore, Ukrainian admins of Kiev cybersport Arena / cyberarena will address this claim to other police department. As a result, inner investigation within police departments will be held and bad policemen will be punished - fired at least. In any case, zE should handle this case to police station with help of some native speakers. And roman should assist him in doing it of course.
2011-01-23 19:29
pretty weird
2011-01-23 19:32
In Spain we have a fool government and president, but the police is 100% legal and the don't ask you for money if you don't have you passport or something like that
2011-01-23 19:35
Was really looking forward to attend an event at Kiev CyberSport Arena in the future, but reading this, I am unsure if I will ever go there :S

#366 yes, but in ukraine policemans (people in general) earns ~100-150$ per month or even less. spain or portugal (espacially portugal) was the same s*ithole ~20 years ago, before they joined to the eu...
2011-01-23 19:53
Wrong information. The average sallary is like 300$ and in bigger cities like Kiev ~500-600$ but of course you can earn much more if you got something in your head..
2011-01-23 22:22

ye 'reply' button rules
2011-01-24 00:10
i don't know where you got those facts but, before the EU thing, Portugal, was better than it is now, maybe not in terms external wealth, but more like human values and stuff. And believe me it was EVEN BETTER without the Euro money. Portugal was bad, when it was a f*cking dictatorship, where everyone except higher social classes, didn't have the means to support a family
2011-01-24 04:24
Fucked up Country...
2011-01-23 19:53
this country is so decay and corrupted

2011-01-23 20:05
382 do you know about Portugal's story? 20 years ago Portugal was one of the richest countrys of the world. In Portugal nobody dies with ungry. Not now, not 20 years ago. Gold from Brasil, Diamonds from Angola etc etc...
2011-01-23 20:09
Lol it wasnt, they didnt have one of the highest BNP in the world for 20 years ago. Portugal and Greece wanted to join EU, because they were in economic problems and was untill, EU took the Eastern european in the union, the two most poor countries in the EU. That was also the reason why Greece and Portugal didnt want the new countries in the EU.
2011-01-23 20:58
just stfu. Portugal only have economics problems nowadays, 20 years ago was one of the best countrys of Europe to live!
2011-01-23 21:16
no, it wasn't. an economy based on subsidies from the EU cannot be called a good place to live.
2011-01-23 21:23
+1. Same problem here. For 25 years now! You weren't bombed, that's a + comparing to us xDDD
2011-01-24 02:05
Btw the offence committed is "Battery" and not "Assault".
2011-01-24 03:45
and who cares are you still living in the history? are you still calling germans nazis and hitlers? :D
2011-01-23 21:24

2011-01-23 21:01
bad country. :S
2011-01-23 21:03
ohh there are many countries in the world where something like that is possible, also you must take ID, passports in unknown country. Ukraine is great country to visit, but if someone decided not to visit it - it's not a big loss for us :DDD PS ACAB
2011-01-23 21:12
How its life in Ukraine? In Portugal we have a lot of Ukrains building houses etc etc, its a bad signal and image from ur country.
2011-01-23 21:30
doesn't mean much, in france portuguese ppl do the same as ukrainian ppl do in portugal. Actually it happens each time someone emigrates to a richer country than his..
2011-01-25 01:12
>> Ukraine is great country to visit I have to disagree =)

same at prag...
2011-01-23 21:34
xD ukrainian police style xD
2011-01-23 21:51
Sorry but you ALWAYS have to carry a passport (outside of EU) or an valid ID to get identified when you're travelling outside of your home country. What's so special about it? They should've known it considering they're travelling so much. Lucky they didn't face have any further consequences. And before you all start juding the police - remember it was after the club, that danish guy was prolly super drunk. Maybe he even said something to provoke that hit? It's a onesided story - don't forget that!
2011-01-23 21:58
True by some parts but police cant use violence, just for self-defence. And asking money for not showing his ID, that is just freaky.
2011-01-23 22:48
The alternative is staying overnight, in best cases having someone bringing over your passport and in worse case deportation. Consider it as a fee to refrain all of this happening to you.
2011-01-23 22:52
can you give any alternative links wich may describe this sistuation?>
2011-01-23 23:12
Which one?
2011-01-23 23:46
about Ze's & Roman's adventure with ua police (actually I did not know details about clubs and condition of players;))
2011-01-23 23:53
It's absolutley normal for Ukrain (as for Russia)... Just totally corruption.

ne hodite deti v ukrainu gulyat tama kashaloti, tama begimoti, tama Zeus i Senya, tama est zlie menti. xDD
2011-01-23 22:25
This incident is a real shame. zE and roman should have turned to the cyberarena staff after this case. I'm sure those retards would be at least fired.
2011-01-23 22:29
Now i know why Finland is the best country in the world. Here is free health care, free education and if you dont have money/work/home goverment will give it to you. And here is no corrupted polices :)
2011-01-23 22:33
Yeah the Finnish police force is among the best in the world.
2011-01-23 22:55
true acording to the statistics of something called humand development level os something like that I readed that norway and finland were the best, but still unecessary that everyone os forced to do military service.
2011-01-23 23:06
yeah that is fucked up. Here should be army like in sweden. Not forced but a job u get paid for that. But in my opinion all the countrys should close their armys because war is stupiest thing what mankind can do. Humans are stupids. Im maybe a little hippy, but its my opinion :)
2011-01-23 23:18
not anymore. at least in norway. they search for somewhat "elites" in the millitary. people that actually want to be there
2011-01-24 01:32
sounds like a communism
2011-01-23 23:33
The Nordic countries are somewhat socialist countries because of the welfare system. It's not even close to communistic socialism though. It's quite sad though that the effects of the Soviet Union's corruption are still seen in ex-Soviet countries.
2011-01-23 23:44
You replied to that dumbfuck ? rofl, I've been to Finland, and it's fucking FREEEEE as it should be. Forget about entering a Pub or having alcoholic beverages in a public place if your under 18. although i got pretty fucked up in midsummer fest ^^
2011-01-24 04:32
"Forget about entering a Pub or having alcoholic beverages in a public place if your under 18." Lies. Didn't have to show my ID once when I was visiting Finland for Assembly Winter!
2011-01-24 11:51
well he never said it wasn't, did he? he said it sounded like communism which is understandable as the Finnish system is a sort of mixture between capitalism (free market & competition) and socialism (welfare state and help to the poor)
2011-01-25 01:18
Not according to UN's statistics. Not even close, actually.
2011-01-24 15:44
by reading these comments i think i have to change flag here :|

2011-01-23 23:37
well, in normal countries police stopping you if u did something wrong and then check for id and stuff. In ukraine police stop you first and then looking for a reason to get money from you. thats why i moved to US
2011-01-23 23:49
so true :)
2011-01-24 15:50

2011-01-23 23:57
True :D
2011-01-24 00:07
Gee I wonder why? lol. Every person especially police in eastern europe, Czech/Slovakia/Ukraine/ etc are so racist all white supremacists, guarentee if he was white nothing would have happen, sad but true
2011-01-24 00:15
are you white?!! :DDDD
2011-01-24 00:46
Yes I am....but my close friends are northern african and I have travled with them to Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Serbia all the same....everyone treats them different, stares at them...plus there is that unsettling feeling that the police can do whatever they want its really uncomfortable
2011-01-24 01:23
then i guess its all great for the rest of the world, because racism is only in eastern europe......
2011-01-24 01:26
No there is racism everywhere but it is much more prolific in Eastern Europe than North America , France , UK from my personal experience. And 99% of people will agree.
2011-01-24 02:14
i'm wondering, in how many countries in eastern europe have you been already that you say something like this? and Czech/Slovakia eastern europe? maybe my map is so bad...
2011-01-24 01:34
Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Serbia, been to Poland too but didn't encounter much racism in Krakow too much partying.
2011-01-24 02:15
you are so wrong.. :) in our country Policemen are affraid of aresting Gipsys because they would YELL: xenofobia, rasism...and they would have problems :) so in our country Gipsys can make allmost everything without fear of being arrested :D so sad, but true But I cant agree with you with one point.. Almost 95% of czech people REALY HATE gipsys :) (nothing against asians, afroamericans,...) And there is HUUUUUUGE difference between Czech republic and Ukraine. I realy know the difference, because I have family in UA (ukraine), and as a foreigner you must have around 100 dollars allways with you - just for the case, when you meet policemen. This doest not appear in Czech rep.
2011-01-24 15:52
i agree
2011-01-24 20:57

2011-01-24 02:09
I love how english people hate the police, yet there one of the best police forces out there - stuff like this disgusts me, stuff like this should be in global news (im aware some of it is) about how currupt police are in forigen countries, liturally disgusts me and i don't know how b*stards like this get away with sh*t, no offence to anyone from the less deprived countries but I honnestly feel sorry for u lot a you have to live in the same country as these scumbags, hope politics etc can sort itself - not acceptable in the slightest, and i hope the police men in charge have karma coming to them... f*cking c*nts..
2011-01-24 02:21

you guys say its cheep there? fuck the police, how about the girls? :D
2011-01-24 04:50
a lot of Ukrainian girls prefer to work as prostitutes in the different Eastern European countries. And it is just because of it's not profitable to work as prostitute in Ukraine (for example, you can rent a whore for just $15 I guess) =D most of other girls at that place are kinda "hoe" too, they would love you so much if you have money :')
2011-01-24 11:11
"a lot of Ukrainian girls prefer to work as prostitutes in the different Eastern European countries." What are you talking about? Are you mad? an idiot? Lots of Ukrainian,Russian etc girls were deceptioned, and as a result they were compeled by force to work in that "industry of entartainment". People, perhaps like you or not, just come to public house and say: "I want something special, beautiful young girl, especially from Urkaine or Russia" Isn't it?
2011-01-24 13:53
The cheapest prostitutes here cost like 50$. Those who got more or less good appearance cost 100$+. It's not Thailand dude. And actually most of the ukrainain prostitutes in europe are forced to do that.
2011-01-24 15:03

2011-01-24 15:39
I suppose you have to take your own house to not be arrested
2011-01-24 15:59
Police are like this (fucked up) here in Ukraine But the coin has it's other side. Let's say that ukrainian visa in your passport has expired a week ago and you try to leave the country. Here in Ukraine you'll need to pay smth like 50-200$ to custom officer and the case will be closed right there with no departation nor 'persona non grata' stamped in your passport. Life is simple ;D Ukraine - to the Europe Union ! xD
2011-01-24 16:16
freakin RACISTS always hated this country ukraine
2011-01-24 16:26
lol american talks about racism :D and btw you can put your hate deeper in you fat ass.
2011-01-25 09:12
People "don't judge a book by a scrap"... Life here is pretty ok. I can say that as i lived in UK, in Israel and in Germany. But girls are most beautiful in Ukraine.
2011-01-24 16:38
2011-01-24 16:49
Need to say a word regarding Ukrainian police (militia - the title remains since past USSR) - they are 90% bidlo, not intelligent, brutal, with 'special' (neagtive) attitue to people (and tourists). Remember one thing - the ONLY goal of police is forcing you to pay them money via cheating, threatening, assaulting, aressting and using blackmail.Every tourist have money according to their logic. Avarage salary of ukrainian policeman is about $250-300 and they catching every opportunity to 'earn' more using their police status. It's 100% true. They can catch you with 5g (legal amount) of Marihuana, force you to confess about more grammes about trading drugs and they can add more 'fake' crimes you didn't perform by forcing sign papers (if you refuse to sign they may beat you or (more often) impacting on your psychic by jaling you for some days in bad conditions with dummy persons (ex-prisoners). And after it you'll try to pay them for your release and canceling you fake 'crimes'. The amount of money eq about price of good euro automobile and somitemes more. Many Ukrainian police officers have good cars (that they unable to but for the their legal salary), cotteges, their children, wife or lovers feel good. Actually those people rob and assault (not guard as it have to be by the law) their citizen.
2011-01-24 17:09
as my friend says there are not criminal authorities now, police are criminals now
2011-01-25 09:15
police in our country - realy brutal... They can hit girls and old men... sad
2011-01-24 17:24
If you are a foreign person in Ukraine, look like an Asian and don't have the pasport, you may have troubles with them. So don't forget your passport if you are going out. And if you have any issues with them, the best thing you can do is calling your country embassy imidiatelly, save their number into the cellphone on fastdial. Our policemen always try to get money from foreign persons, since them don't know Ukrainian law. But our laws like the laws in EU, but the policemen don't obbey them... For Lal now the best option to write an application into internal police security devision. It will help to fight for the human rights in Ukraine. This news already got resonanse in our press, so they will not ignore it.
2011-01-24 17:56
f*ck it's my country. i feel sad about my country

2011-01-24 21:59
I think he meant the song by N.W.A. 'cuz of the way he wrote it :) the one by RATM is more for the Philly cops as far as I know but it does applies to all of them
2011-01-25 22:30
("money under the table") Hahaha =D
2011-01-24 18:58
This case is being widely discussed in ukrainian internet press atm and will probably be on TV shortly
2011-01-24 19:33
ahh seems like we're not the only ones with those problems jaja
2011-01-24 19:48
One-sided story, he might be drunk to nuts. Anyway, we're living in a shit, that's 100% true =\
2011-01-24 19:53

2011-01-24 19:53
ahahah xD
2011-01-24 21:58
This accident is NOT unique. Foreing ppl do NOT understand such behaviour from police. We becoming ghetto/police country. Tip: Tourist have to learn distignish 'bad/bidlo*' and good/open minded/modern people in Ukraine. There are some amount of hornest open-good-minded people in Ukraine and 'bidlo'*. Visiting Ukraine try to find a man/girl guide from you online friends, trust enlish speaking, modern/free looking/wearing young people (16-2*). Grey jackets - avoid them. *'Bidlo' (slang) that has unique and local meaning. Other nearest words by the meaning for 'bidlo' are zombies/masses/animals/slaves ie primitive, limited people with animal behavior, needs and mind level. Some people argued that they are 70% of Ukrain population.
2011-01-24 20:00
your post is rly true. but not 70% i think 50-60 cuz we have good ppl too.
2011-01-24 20:01
u really think that?
2011-01-25 08:48
Nice comments must admit. But you exaggerate a little. From your comments it became clear we've got nothing but bydlo (dumb people) here in Ukraine. But i've been living in some of EU countries. Imho it's not so much better even though life conditions are not comparable to what we have here.
2011-01-24 21:20
but in Eu is better than here
2011-01-24 21:23
It depends...

For all haters i can say only "It's life". No wonder this has happened to some of our european guests. Every country, region has it's own 'shit' that may happen. In the USA some still say that russian (as well as ukrainian) people use caps with ear-flaps (ushanka), and bears walk on a city and no one cares. But i know many 'cool' things and stories about russian\ukrainian people living abroad. :)

"It depends..." Common ppl don't be so shy saying that we now live in police country with bandits at goverment, clans intereses, high level of poverty and corruption, mind and body degradation amoung some layers of human beings. I'm almost 30 single and it's kinda time when you see very clear whats going on around indeed. You're mostly young (16-22) and you feel more happy and kinda 'if got no problems - its ok for all' + low XP. You know kids are very happy by themselfs cause they are kids. They can live in jungle and be happy. Relatevly good opportunies for EVERYTHING, good health, everything is interesting - you're are happy playing online games, bmx-ing, having fun with friends, till the day when you realize that EXTERNAL factors cheating you health ammo and armour. Realize you can live much more better IF..Did we see other life? How many of you (ukrainians) were traveling around the world? "but in Eu is better than here" Sure better about some things. You cannot be assaulted for nothing! ) and more

funny how many people keep bashing Ukraine, calling it inferior to their nations etc. In a reality, this happens everywhere, human rights are abused on daily basis everywhere, however, in some countries it is more open. In USA, I mean cops would never do that, ass they know better, that if you report them, they are fked. In Ukraine, on the other side, police gets away with this stuff, as mentality is different there and people usually just pay, so they won't be bothered.

The fact of the matter is, yes its sad that the police think its ok to do somethink like that, and probably knew there were international tourists at the club, however, you still need to respect the laws and rules of the country you are in. If they require you to carry your passport at all times, then so be it, you need to abide. Its not our place to say what rules are right and wrong, unless you are a citizen. Police corruption happens in a lot of places, it is very sad that it does, but remember if no 1 stops it why would they think its wrong. They probably see the gamers as wealthy and thought Ze was taking the piss by saying he has no money. In the UK people often take their passport to clubs as means of identification. Either way u shud not judge a country on a few bent cops. As Nix said previously, most people who go can't wait to go back :)

Its not just Ukraine lol.. this shit happend in Ukraine as it could happen' in Portugal or any other country.. it is sad it happend there.. dispite living in Portugal I was born in Moldova and lived there for quite some time so I know how shit is by those places.. imo it really depends on the place you are living/visiting.. I never had problems with authorities but I know that in the bigger city's cops don't behave themselves the way they should.. so don't say Ukraine is shit or so.. all country's have their Good's and Bad's..
