digifest to revamp staff
The digifest organisation has announced that it will make drastic changes to its staff ahead of the next event.
This decision comes after the massive problems which occurred at the last event, held in March, where the Counter-Strike tournament faced a "catastrophy", in the words of the organisation.
Technical issues caused severe delays in the competition and ultimately made the organisation decide that the remainder of the tournament would have to be played online.
"People who were responsible for the part of the whole project in question will find replacements from the old EAK organization," a digifest statement read.
The event organisation has revealed that the four Lithuanian teams who attended the event - RESET, MMORI, ultra-h and HeadsWillRoll - have been banned from future editions for "inexcusable behaviour".
Contacted by HLTV.org, the digifest chiefs stated that this is a provisional measure until they learn the names of the Lithuanian players who were involved in an incident with the bus company who would take the teams from Estonia back to their homeland.
The use of alcohol and cigarettes by the players in the question and the fact they disturbed other passengers made the company ban a total of 40 people and cancel the return trip.
"We had to use another transportation in order to keep our word regarding the transportation costs and the coverage of it," digifest chief Martin Veermäe told HLTV.org.
"Even though the extra costs are not enormous, we still feel that it is injust for us to be responsible for the extra fees and the time that it took for the organizers to get another transportation that fast (within couple of hours - to organize a busload of people from Estonia to Latvia-Lithuania) as we already had a lot of techical problems in the CS 1.6 tournament and huge delay's."
Meanwhile, it has been announced that the next edition of digifest will take place in October in Tallinn, with the event hosting a qualifier for "the most desired e-sports tournament."
The digifest online tournament is still underway, with Power Gaming, who come from the Upper Bracket, set to meet Online Kingdom, a match which has not yet been scheduled.
