SK Gaming has defeated ESC Gaming to win GameGune 2011. SK only needed to beat ESC on one map, and de_inferno proved all that was needed, winning the map 16-14. SK Gaming will now be crowned GameGune champions and receive a cheque for €12,000.
SK Gaming started the half as Terrorists on de_inferno. However it would be ESC Gaming who continued their strong performance in pistol rounds and this one was no exception. After the pistol ESC took the following two save rounds and opened up a handy 3-0 lead. SK hit back taking the first gun round and ESC’s save rounds. The teams traded round for round and after eight rounds the scores were locked four each. SK started to pick up the pace in the ninth round and won a few unanswered rounds. ESC responded late in the half and the teams went into the half 8-7 in favor of SK Gaming.
In the second half, SK managed to the pistol and the following save rounds. As we have seen time and time again ESC were able to hit back and take the first gun round. ESC put together some nice Terrorist strategies and had a good chance of snatching victory but in the end fell short, SK winning 16-14.
The final placings for GameGune 2011 were as follows:
1. SK Gaming - €12,000
2. ESC Gaming - €6,000
3. Natus Vincere - €3,000
4. fnatic - €1,500
Apologies to those whose HLTV was laggy towards the end of the final. It seems our HLTV was being attacked. Luckily we were able to switch to another one, before they realised and the match could finish in peace.
The next main event for SK Gaming will be e-Stars MSI BEAT IT Championship which starts on August 19 from Seoul, Korea. Will Natus Vincere and fnatic get their revenge?
