Stockholm E-sport Arena on the rise

Stockholm will soon feature its very own e-sport arena, as Inferno Online is set to finish their most recent expansion by the end of September.

It is the Swedish tabloid rakaka who today brought the story, that Stockholm's E-sport Arena will be ready by the end of September, and the kingpin of the project is the world's largest online gaming center Inferno Online.

Inferno Online back in May received the Guinness World Record for the largest online gaming center, and already back then the talks had started about their next expansion, which would include an e-sport arena.

The latest information given to rakaka is that the arena will be a total of 400 square meters, which means Inferno Online will have a total of 2,000 square meters and more than 400 computers. The arena will specifically be used for tournaments and other e-sports-related events.

With this, Stockholm challenges Kiev for the e-sports Mecca of Europe, as Kiev currently sits on the throne with the 1,500 square meter and 200 PCs Kiev CyberSport Arena, which opened in April 2010.

There is yet to be an official announcement from Inferno Online regarding the arena. The only information currently available is that the arena is expected to be ready by the end of September.

Stay tuned for more information on the matter as we will be sure to bring you more news once it surfaces.

for 2 tournaments? :D germany is a fucking online country, you wouldn't move anyone to a local event without a prize money of 10.000€, full refund and good teams participating. even the weakest players think this way - german extravagance for no reason. the "fast" development of internet nearly killed our offline scene

Ifngs aren't enough at all. In such an arena you need players who want to practice and organizations that want to adjust a tournament. Afaik iol and cyber arena are well visited by players and teams as well as a lot of tournaments taking place. Even in EPS you wouldn't collect 5 teams to make a bootcamp
2011-08-16 18:52
sadly. in germany, there are practically no tournaments for pro- or "better" amateur-teams with independent organisation. EPS made our teams think they wouldn't have to play anything else because they had their save slot and some income for half a year of idle.. i really wish someone with interest in cs/esports would create some big offline scene in germany again ... but thats nearly impossible without players attending. they always say "there are no lans with good prizes, so we won't go" .. its a vicious circle. @ #58 above me: ifng numbers are decreasing immensely, especially regarding 1.6. and that's only 1 match mostly for a team per season - not really a big thing, look at IOL finals or such things ... we once hat WWCL but yeah. dead.
