Alexander "ave" Holdt has announced his retirement from professional gaming, leaving mTw to focus on his studies. Filling Holdt's place will be the gifted AWP'er Michael "Friis" Jørgensen, who for a long time has been playing for the second best team in Denmark.

The time has come for the 23-year-old Alexander "ave" Holdt to call in his retirement, as he wants to focus on his studies. Holdt teamed up with Danny "zonic" Sørensen in August 2006 when joining NoA. Ever since, Holdt and Sørensen have played alongside each other, but the day has come for the two to separate.

"I'm retiring from CS. I've decided to retire mainly because I'd like to focus more on my school and my everyday life. The upcoming events this fall would make it really hard for me to do that. My desire to play the tournaments is still there, but the practice hours required is too much for me at this point. I've been really happy to have such a long streak with the team, and I'll always remember this part of my life as a really good one!" - Said Alexander "ave" Holdt on mTw's website.

Playing five years with the best Danish team, Holdt has managed to win a great number of titles, including gold at WCG, KODE5, WEM, DreamHack, IEM European Championship and many more.

Joining mTw and filling Hold's place is Michael "Friis" Jørgensen, who for many years have been playing for the second best team in Denmark, with the goal to dethrone mTw.

"I am really happy to have been givin the opportunity to play with one of the best teams in the World. I will do everything I can to prove that they have chosen the right person and hopefully I can be a part of a team winning a lot of tournaments again!" - Stated Michael "Friis" Jørgensen on mTw's website.

The time has now come for Jørgensen to join forces with mTw, where he will become the main AWP player. This move is something the community has called for a long time, as Jørgensen truly possess skills that qualify him for a place in the best Denmark can field.

Friis becomes a part of mTw

mTw now consist of the following:

Danny "zonic" Sørensen
Timm "ArcadioN" Henriksen
Martin "trace" Heldt
Oliver "minet" Minet
Michael "Friis" Jørgensen

Jørgensen will have his debut today, when mTw compete in the first European qualifier for the IEM6 Global Challenge New York.

they won't replace him now...if there was any chance before... i think ave is saying studies but he knows that he needs to let go so the team can improve...this just means that trace will free up and play his game proper now without having to think about awping and be just the second awper(i always liked zonic's awp more than his anyway:P)... the team is more balanced this way...

Arcadion is the leader in game, not Ave. So if ave doesn't lead anymore, he's not as important as he used to be. It's gonna be very interesting to see the upcoming tournament.

its really sad, he is one of my favourite players because he could keep being competitive at cs and focusing at other important things at the same time. anyway i expect some pros to start retiring. i don't know exactly when maybe in the end of this year or in the next year, GTR said that he is getting old and wants to finish his studies, carn is about to retire probably, same goes to dsn.

They should perform a lot better, but it doesn't mean that they will! We all saw that trace was becoming uncomfortable with the awp lately! It was really hard for him to be the main rifler and awper and the same time! mTw lacked in firepower, zonic is good but this is not really his year, minet is doing his role, but ave and arcadion are simply too much doing the same role! I mean mTw needed a madfragger, which ave is not! Similar thing like SK! Robban was good with the awp but not outstanding. Nowadays it's really hard for a player to do two roles! Replacing dennis they got that stable awp, so Robban could concentrate more on his strats! Now trace can concentrate more on his rifle and leave the awping to arguably a top3 awper

yes ave had the worst K/D ratio compared to all A-league team members... yes there was no need of him since arcadion took over the role of igl... yes he is not at the level at which once he was... but when it counted the most, at the big stage it was always ave who stepped up, perhaps more than zonic and trace ! for mtw's unending streak of losses against Na`Vi, zonic is more responsible than anyone else ! i think zonic was the right one to go ! fortunate or not to sum it all up, couldn't disagree with you more ...

Eeh? ArcadioN was the caller, i.e. he decides what to do. Of course when they practice up to events they speak about the tactics, but ave didn't call anything on LANs except if needed. ave didn't have the same pressure on the team after ArcadioN joined them.

He might use it inside when he has cash for it, but I think they will do so Friis can back them up inside fast and then trace can remain with the rifle. But yeah, we will see :) No doubt trace can use awp, but he is just not the "awp-man" imo. He is sick with rifles.

Well yeah, everyone has their own opinions. but lets be honest, GeT_RiGhT is playing sick every tournament. In 2009 in fnatic he was more of a madfragger and was easily the best player in the world, since then he have just stayed on the top since forever, he would have been 1:st 2010 if markeloff didnt have navi owning it up as they did. Anyways, now he have become more of a teamplayer and people dont see that. GeT_RiGhT is one of a kind player :)

Mvp is based on how much 1 player stands out in a team & carries it (mostly) it's perfectly easy to see that it will mostly be neo cause he carries the team , 85 % of te time, while in sk, one day it might be delpan, f0rest, gtr & sometimes face ..

Holy SH*T! This was so not expected! Both good and not good, they lost a really great player in ave while they got a amazing AWPer in Friis which means that trace can leave the Sniper role to Friis and focus more with the AK47 and M16. I don't want to say which line-up is better because I don't know, let's wait and see how they perform! Glad they kept ArcadioN though!

actually i prefer ave than arcadion..yes ok arcadion is a fragging IGL but ave is/was one of the best players that had a true feeling of the game. his plans and tactics were better than arcadions but new age cs doesnt rely so much on tactics but at extreme aim and teamwork. Gl ave about friis. I was saying that friis should join mTw since he was playing with team MIRROR with trace fagaan wazorn arcadion..they were super awesome back in the day and each one of them has evolved so much!! new mTw will now have one of the top5 awpers worldwide (delpan markeloff fallen barbarr friis) and i hope he will be the missing part to restore mTw's success they had in the past when sunde was on form..gl guys

I cant describe how underrated ave has always been, sad to see such a tactical legend like him go to retire. Ave is the smartest pro player in the scene without doubts, and he is a HUGE clutcher (remember his 3 deagle headshots) when it really matters. His retirement is a great loss for the whole scene. Friis is a sick player so I don't think mTw will be any worse, possibly with the dominant role of awp nowadays they will improove a little. :)

I never see Friis succeed in international competitions as Sunde(now Friis>Sunde is true because Sunde is/was inactif). this is gonna be so interesting. especially considering everything that has been said about Friis and why he didnt get a shot in mTw until now. my guess is that they will do well the first couple of months, just to totally crash down when it's starting to get tough. if the team chemistry was bad before, it's probably even worse now. but for their sake i really hope they'll succeed, they got a great mix of players on the field, it's just off the field that i'm worried about. zonic is now the only guy left from the old golden mtw team and my guess is that he will, too, be gone come silly season (around xmas/new years), unless they've performed over the top. btw, how fun wouldnt it be if zonic actually left in the beginning of 2012 and reformed the old mTw team with MJE, whimp, Sunde and ave just for fun and only attended danish events? i think they'd totally be able to smash everyone just by routine and teamplay, even if the mTw team would be better on paper/skillwise. would love to see that happen!!

I think this change will have an positive effect on trace, because he is now able to play his own game and do what he is probably the best in the world at, playing with rifles. If you have watched the latest games against Na´Vi, trace hasn't shined as he used to, but I think that this will help him. :-)

A much needed change i guess! Have been following the cs scene since only 2009 and started following mtw since mid 2010 Really liked ave as an igl! So watched mtw's old demos and was impressed with ave's strats.When arcadion replaced sunde they were still good and was surprised how an igl can turn to such a good fragger once the pressure is off his shoulders. I just have the same feeling when HeatoN retired cause he is just as best as him was. So many of us do not know it because ave was always in the backround leading the team and fragging importants frags... of course not so many as zonic or trace or sunde that is why he was not so famous but you can belive me everything that mTw has ever achieved was mostly baceuse of him, because of his brain and his leading ability. He was a fantastic player. I usually use "one of the best" but not this time, He was the best for the last 4 or 5 years for me of course he was my counter-strike icon after heaton. We can thank him so many things. It was a pleasure ave so long and all the best.

They definitely got stronger. No offense to ave's skills, but I do think Friis will have a bigger impact on the fragging side of things. Now, I'm not sure why they don't keep trace as the main awper, but anyhow, I think he will still be using it... even though he is a great rifler as well. Double awp setup will be deadly if they do it too.
