IEM6 GC New York viewer's guide

IEM6 Global Challenge New York will start this Thursday in the Big Apple. Wondering when your favorite team or teams will play? We bring you a complete schedule for the event, allowing you to plan when to get up or rather how late to stay up.

IEM6 Global Challenge New York will feature eight teams all fighting to get a slice of the $40,000 prize purse, starting Thursday at 18:00 . Also on the line will be two spots for the IEM6 World Championship next year in March.

Below is a detailed schedule to guide you through the four days of Counter-Strike action. All times are listed in your local time zone, so make sure to edit it in your profile settings if you have not already. Please note that the times are subject to change.

Maps will be determined by the teams shortly before the match begins. Both teams remove one map from the map pool untill 1 is left (3 in the playoffs).

In addition to the Global Challenge, ESL will host two Counter-Strike: Global Offensive show matches, with the teams and players yet to be determined, both matches will be broadcasted by ESL TV.

+1, as a native English speaker I love seeing people from other countries using the language. It has some pretty funny results sometimes, but I'm glad people aren't afraid to attempt to articulate their ideas. International's broken grammar can cause them to be more concise and, in my opinion, can sometimes allow them to get their point across more effectively.

azn played in their esea matches but isn't listed on their team for this lan and if i remember right, che didn't play in their esea matches so che's most likely azn's stand in perhaps because azn lives in hawaii, so that'd be an expensive trip for him

its a NYC mix they are all great guys and fun to play with. some of them have played multiple seasons of esea-invite which is the highest league in North America. They could be deadly and make some close games and possibly win one but it will be very hard for them being a last minute thing =]

it's in a sense funny to call the 4 us teams local. i mean that honestly, as i chuckled when i read it. frod lives in tx, 2700+ km from where IEM is; n0thing is even farther at 4500+ km. in comparison, at sec, m5 wasn't a 'local' team, but moscow is only 1100+ km from warsaw, less than 1/4 the distance n0thing will travel. of course sweden to guangzhou is like 8000 km, so it doesn't quite match the distance euro teams traveled to get to iem gc. but i agree with you that it would be more interesting to see more big teams there to then compete with one another, or at least a more diverse set of teams, like if ate or m5 had made it. i imagine this will go like arbalet dallas did. an interesting side effect of this, though, will be to see how the us teams play. in their last lan, EG mentioned they basically worked off a default and called things on the fly instead of running strats because the us scene is small enough that it's easy for teams to memorize anything their strats, being as static as they are by definition. so, it will be interesting to see if they play non-us teams entirely differently than us teams, and to compare their success in each.
