fnatic have been crowned champions of MSI BEAT IT 2011 at DreamHack Winter, overcoming Lions in the final.
Setting out on the grand final clash against fnatic on de_nuke, Lions opened up the match by securing the initial round, awarding them an early lead against their opposing countrymen.
In-between Lions' triumping, fnatic had a few rounds in which they managed to get the better of them, but Lions were the dominating force of the two, making sure to maintain a fair lead.
As the half-time bell rang, Lions had achieved a five-round lead against fnatic, going into the second half with a confidence boost, not only from the lead, but also the crowd's loud cheers.
Now playing Terrorist, Patrik "cArn" Sättermon's men made sure they would not let the second pistol round fall into the hands of Lions, but a countermove by the latter stopped further fruition.
Following the setback after the first three rounds, fnatic struggled to cope with Lions powerful play, ultimately losing out at 16-8 and witnessing their contenders secure the first point of the match.
Worth mentioning is the fact that fnatic have been able to return from being under by one map point twice in the MSI BEAT IT 2011 tournament, against Anexis and mousesports earlier today.
Going forward, now on de_dust2, fnatic came out on top of the initial round, but a couple of careless maneuvers gave Lions the opportunity to collect a few points to close in on fnatic.
And close in on fnatic is just what Lions did. After the 12th round, the two sides tied up. However, fnatic would be the team to leap ahead and seal the first half, with a scoreline of 8-7.
fnatic proceeded to take out the third pistol round in a row, giving them the edge for the following rounds. Impressively, fnatic scored eight points straight, putting the overall score to 1-1.
The last and final map, de_tuscan, was once again kick-started by Sättermon and his men, who by now had claimed four out of five pistol rounds in the match.
Meanwhile, this only rewarded fnatic with two rounds as Lions managed to strike back and initiate a streak of back-to-back rounds, growing a more than fair 7-2 lead against fnatic.
While both teams sealed additional rounds, Lions proved to be the stronger team of the first half, locking it down with a reasonable 10-5 scoreline.
Switching sides, fnatic made up for their defecit from the last half by overpowering Lions, with Michael "Friis" Jørgensen playing exceptionally well, to tie the two sides up at 10-10.
fnatic then leaped ahead to a three-round lead, but were shortly after followed by Lions, once again tying them up. Ultimately, fnatic claimed the two remaining rounds, securing victory at 16-13.
